I almost can’t believe how bad my experience was here… I really really don’t like writing bad reviews! But I would like to help to keep others from having the experience I did by writing this, since I would appreciate a warning myself… I moved to the area and was excited to find a place for alterations and dry cleaning within walking distance. I brought 3 things here… The first was a beautiful dress that was way too big up top(it started off a little big but as I wore it the material stretched and it was pretty extreme), it would completely slide off my shoulders and needed taking it. I showed the lady there and she wasn’t quite getting what I asked, was suggesting another way I didn’t like as much and that didn’t fit as well. So for a little while I kept trying to explain. In the end she said, I would just leave it. I was like, what do you mean, so it is huge and falls off of me? Not really an option. Then she said you should take it to a seamstress… I thought that is what they were?!? I guess not? I had looked up alterations/seamstress online and this is what I found. Anyhow, she also suggested I sew it myself which I don’t know how to do which is the reason why I brought it there… Anyway, I thought to myself, ok I know now not to take clothes to be altered here, but I can still leave a few things to be dry cleaned. I left them there confidently thinking nothing much could really go wrong… One of the dresses I left to be cleaned was a very nice gown. It is one of my most favorite dresses that I have ever owned and also has sentimental value because I wore it for an album photo shoot with my band and an important show. It was $ 160 so not too expensive but certainly one of the nicer things I own. It looked clean enough at first glance. When I got home I unwrapped it and saw they had safety pinned it to the hanger on both sides. I removed the pins and there were large noticeable holes in their place! I was sooo upset! I called them and she said something about how they don’t put the pins in the clothes the people at the factor do but to bring it back. I brought it in to her and showed her the holes and she just kept going on and on about how they pin all their dresses and it is never a problem and if I didn’t want a pin in it I should have said something when I dropped it off, that their customers tell them if they don’t want pins… I was like«I brought this to be dry cleaned– not even altered, I didn’t have any reason to believe that you would be using pins and therefore to say anything about it!» She also just kept saying we always use pins let me show you the other dresses with pins. I was like«I don’t care if you always use pins. I’m not a fabric expert, but you guys are supposed to be, and that’s why I brought my clothes here. If you see that the material is delicate and can’t handle pins then why would you put pins in it?» She just went on about how they used the pins so the dress would lay better on the hanger and not get wrinkled. I was beside myself. I would rather my dress be wrinkled then have holes in it!(Btw, this dress was was purchased a year ago and isn’t available to repurchase anymore– I checked). The other dress I bought was more casual and not special to me in the same way. One reason I brought it was because of some light marks in the front and I was too lazy to try and use Shout to get it out myself. The marks were still there. I showed her and she said oh, we tried multiple times(clearly this was just a line she made up on the spot because when I had additional picked the dresses up she said everything went fine). She kept going on that they don’t get marks out of white things etc etc. I said… well then what did I pay for? And she said, all the customers pay they all do, and literally started to pick up another white piece of clothing to show me. I don’t know– maybe that it had a spot she wouldn’t remove? I was beside myself. I just left. I will never ever go there again. The fact that they don’t actually alter is fine although misleading, the fact that they didn’t get the marks out of my dress is upsetting because I paid for it for no reason and perhaps the stain is now actually set, but what is really upsetting is making 4 holes(from two safety pins) in a beautiful dress that is my favorite, when there was no reason to put pins in it at all in the first place! :/Needless to say, I would definitely not recommend bringing anything you care about here!

Gebhardt’s does a great job with all my dry cleaning. I’ve been consistently using them for the last few years and have not been disappointed. They are friendly and have not had a bad experience with them.

This is a great family-owner neighborhood business. They are very accommodating if you are in a rush on any cleanings or alterations and can take care of most any stain I throw at them. They do a great job on the alterations as well! That is, as long as you don’t have some vintage fabric item or something incredibly technical… if that is the case maybe you should consider hiring a traditional seamstress downtown? Otherwise these nice people can manage anything :)

I just went in here for a simple alteration on a dress, I was told by a friend who is a costume designer exactly how I could alter it, and I attempted to show the woman how I wanted it done, and she told me it was not possible. If I had a sewing machine that I knew how to use, I would be able to do it myself. But I don’t, that’s why I come to places like this. When she would not alter it the way I had asked her, she basically told me I should go home and try to sew it myself. Why the hell would I do that when I’m in an alterations place? Waste of my time.

had to get a couple of pants altered before vacation. this place is on the way to the gym so why not try it. i dropped in around 9a, the owner quickly measured the length and told me to come back tomorrow the same time. wow! i usually have to wait 5 to 7 days when i go to my other place. on my way back to the gym the next day, stopped in and my pants were waiting for me. nice work, very quick and very affordable. will definitely go back. thank you

Samsung gave them some nice free publicity for shooting one of their commercials in front of their store.

The owners are horribly dishonest. They messed up a very expensive cocktail dress and as a gesture, offered a modest amount of free dry cleaning. It wasn’t anywhere near the value of the dress — a dress that was new but had deodorant marks on it from when I tried it on. But I accepted their offer as a gesture to make good on their mistake. When I went to use the free dry cleaning, they refused to honor the offer they had made. Don’t use this dry cleaner. If they make a mistake, and mistakes happen, they will not make things right. They are dishonest.

I have been looking for a good tailor since I moved here and I finally found this place. They do an amazing job and very affordable. I had jeans hemmed for $ 8 and they look fantastic. The family that runs the place is so friendly(not true of other tailors in this area) and accommodating… it’s likely that they will have it ready the next day if you need it. Highly recommended

gebhardt’s always does the job and does it well. i don’t know the name of the woman who now owns the place, but she’s very nice and knows exactly what i need and want whenever i go in. i’ve had lots of jeans hemmed here, designer and cheap, and i’m always satisfied. i’ve also had some dry cleaning done and i couldn’t be any happier. the owner is very sweet and she will get your stuff done on or before the pick-up date. her kids are cool too!

Alright! First reviewer! These guys are great. Besides the confusing fact that an Asian family runs a joint named Gebhardt’s, they are great prices, and very very nice. I almost always get there as they are turning out the lights, and they never hesitate to let me in and pick up my stuff. I also get my pants hemmed there when I’m too lazy to do my own. Spot on every time. They don’t even giggle when I can hardly zipper them up. So glad to have them within walking distance in my ‘hood!
