I love their dishes here. Sometimes I am wandering around Ktown and feel so hungry. The words that ring in my head is GAMJABAWI. You must remember the name: GAMJABAWI. If you are having a hard time remembering then remember it like this GAMJA!!! BAWI!!! Go there RIGHTNOW!!!

I wanted something soupy and my friend took me to this place. The soup was okay at first, but it got better with every bite. Basically it’s a creamy broth + fish + tofu + bean sprouts. It’s fishy and a little too salty. 3 stars! QUICKTIPS: ITISLOCATEDATKOREATOWNPLAZA. USETHEPARKINGSTAMPATTHECOUNTERFORYOURPARKINGVALIDATION. Gamjabawi is almost yummylicious!

This place was okay, but to be honest, everything was pretty bland. You pay restaurant prices for food court food. We got the bulgogi and the kalbi, and the total came out to $ 35 and change. It comes with japchae, kkakguki(radish Kim chi), and some broccoli for ban chan and some seaweed soup. The wait took quite a bit, about 20 minutes or more, so we ended up going to get boba and got those and ended up waiting another 15 mins(my friend spilled her boba and got a replacement and it still wasn’t done). If you are in a hurry, don’t come here. Like I said though, food was pretty bland. I think next time, I would go elsewhere.

Very good! The food was very filling and the fish was amazingly tender. Not too spicy, although the licorice leaf was certainly a surprise and something I do not enjoy… Besides that the wait time was around 30 minutes, which is okay for the fish’s cooking process.

I walked up to the counter and respectfully asked the lady standing at the register how long the food usually takes and she said 30 minutes, but that I wouldn’t be able to order any food, while other customers were placing orders right next to me, her exact words were«30 minute but you no order», I’m dressed very decently and my hair is nicley combed so I don’t understand why she denied me. I don’t stink at all, I take a showers and brush my teeth daily as well. So it couldn’t have been because of my odor, I have none, I wasn’t rude nor did I come at her in any disrespectful way, I’m filipino, maybe i’m just not the right kind of asian for them, I think they simply just prefer to serve only Koreans and white people. I accepted that fact and politely walk over to the next restaurant. I definitely feel DISCRIMINATED.

Been to this place a few times and I usually get the Dolsot bimbibap. Today’s bimbibap came out excellent, super hot and delicious, crispy rice in the bottom is great. Side dishes were a nice addition and the small soup was great as well. I have only been to one other restaurant that served bimbibap, but it was forgettable which is why I don’t remember where it was. Bowl was huge and I couldn’t finish the last bites of rice. Two thumbs up.

I have lots of memories eating at gamjabawi since I was a young girl as my parents were always busy and didnt have time to cook. I have introduced all my non-Korean friends here and also frequent this place with my boyfriend. However, starting from this moment on, I will not be dropping even a penny of my hard earned money at this place nor will I be recommending this place to anyone I know. I eat at gamjabawi maybe 2 – 4 times a month and frequented this place since I was a kid. Today, I went to eat here with my boyfriend and decided to get their stir fry octopus and dolsot. We ordered at 6:32pm and got our food at 7:13pm. This place takes FOREVER to prepare food at any time of the day. When we handed her our receipt with our order number on it, she pointed to our food and said«take it!» When we asked if we can have some extra side dishes, the owner literally said in Korean«come back when you finish it» in a rude and condescending tone. The owner(one with an up-do hair style) is freaking BI-POLAR! When I came a few days ago with my sister, she was extremely sweet and kind telling my sister and I how pretty we were. Today, she decides to throw a bitch fit at her customers. Fast forward to maybe 20 minutes later, my bf takes one banchan plate up and she clearly sees him waiting for her to acknowledge him. From a distance, I saw the owner pretending not to notice him. For about 5 minutes he was trying to to get her to notice him and even said«juh gi yo(excuse me)» multiple times. So we had alot of food leftover as our food took almost 40 minutes to come out. We decided to ask the owner for ONE to-go box. She then had the nerves to tell me that a to-go box will be 10CENTS! Clearly, 10 cents is not a big deal. However, gam ja ba wi NEVER charged for to-go boxes! I politely ask her since when did they started charging for to-go boxes. Her response«THEOWNERWANTSMETOCHARGE10CENTSFORTO-GOBOXESSTARTINGNOW». The OWNER is telling me that the OWNER is charging for to-go boxes. I saw from a distance her giving out to-go boxes and not charging that10 cents. SO, the 10 cents rule applies if you purchase over $ 20 worth of food, politely hand the owner your receipt with your order number before you take the food, kindly ask for some extra side dishes, and ask for a to-go box. The owner’s condescending tone and face expression made me feel really disgusted throughout and after our meal that I got indigestion after and swallowed a bunch of tums. I will NEVER come back here.

It was amazing ! First time coming to this koreatown plaza, and glad I bought some food from this place. Me and my girlfriend shared a bulgogi plate and it filled both of us up ! Will come back again !

I ended up here accidentally. The best part about it was the price and portions. I got the bibimbap for under $ 10 and was surprised to see it come with a few Korean side dishes. The sauce in the dish was pretty spicy for me, but I’m very sensitive to spicy foods, so if you like spicy then go for it.

Run by warm and friendly ajummas, Gamjabawi is the BOMB when it comes to all things bibimbap, affordable, and delicious. My mom and I were recommended this place by the ajumma over by the make up stores in the mall, and went to the food court fill our starving stomachs with savory and authentic Korean food after doing a large make-up haul. I got a plain ol’ dolsot bibimbap while my mom got the kimchi version. I wish we knew these things before ordering though: — The orders come with kimchi, pickled cucumbers, and mung bean jelly(the time we were there at least). If my mom knew this– she would not have gotten the kimchi bibimbap since there is already kimchi! — Orders also come with seaweed soup, which also fills you out rather easily. — The bibimbaps we got were both rEALLY SPICY! Korean people really love their spicy food, so that sneaky bit of red pepper sauce should have been expected. I would COMEBACKFORSURE! Though I have a cat’s tongue when it comes to spicy foods, I loved the flavor and suffered through the deliciously hot meal. With love comes suffering? In this case, I’m willing to suffer through the spicy a bit for the undeniably yummy and filling food. :D

I love their black cod soup with cut pieces of dough that are like knife-cut noodles. This delicious order is pretty huge and comes with a bowl of rice and some banchan. They cook everything to order so it takes a while for everyone’s food to be ready. They have a number display so you can watch from wherever you are in the food court seating area. The black cod soup is just so delicious. The only thing is you have to beware of bones. The fish is really tender and the pieces of noodle(dough) are perfectly chewy. For $ 13.99, I would say this is a great deal. I don’t know too much about this food court except they close at 8pm on a Friday night. We got kicked out. Haha. I’m a creature of habit so if something tastes good, I’ll come back for it repeatedly. This is one of those dishes I’ll come back for again and again. Just gotta figure out how to eat without choking on the fish bones. :-p

The lady who owns the place was yelling at some other lady who was asking to see if she had a job opening. I mean, she was just furious that somebody asked for a job. How rude is it to do that in front of your customers. I normally don’t get sad too often, but that almost brought tears to my eyes. The other lady asking for the job just apologized for bothering her and put her head down and walked away silently. I quickly got of line and I will never eat from here again. How can you treat people that way, just because she looks down on them. Please don’t support this kind of business. It is very immoral. Do not support this business and lady. Doesn’t she realize it is people and customers who eat here?

You just need to order one thing… SEAFOODDOLSOT: this was super good and tasty. The sauce was spicy and sweet./ but not too sweet. I will order this every time I’m at K-Town plaza SUJEBI: this was not good. Lacked flavor. My kids weren’t really fans. Will just stick with the seafood DOLSOT Banchan here is just meh. Bc the DOLSOT is so flavorful, you don’t really need the banchan

I love this place! Especially the galbi(sp?) and the hael-mul dolsut! The only con about this place would be the wait time but it’s likely due to the overwhelming amount of customers coming here in comparison to the other places. I understand that so I’m not gonna take a star considering it was worth the wait! I never thought a food court would become a favorite place to eat but yeah it’s a favorite now, yay for suprises!

Food was ok but man the lady at the cash register has some beef with the others in the court. We ordered one dish from her and another dish from another place… Asked for a second spoon for our meal and she hesitated and told me to be sure to bring the spoon back… Ok so far so good. My wife asked for another cup of water and she told her“why don’t you get it from the other restaurant… Didn’t you order another dish?” Ok that’s absolutely not the way you talk to your customers. I wanted to approach her about her attitude but felt reviewing here would be better. Not sure how restaurant owners think this type of behavior would be just personal interactions…

Every time I shop at Koreatown plaza, I have to stop by Gamjabawi! Their stone pot seafood bibimbap! The best in town! The wait time could be a little longer than other restaurants in this food court especially during lunch hour but worth the wait.

Wow! For about $ 10 you get a lot of food. I really like this place, and every once in a while I get the craving for good bimbimbap, so this is one of the places I head. You can’t go wrong, I think everything they make is homemade and it’s served in a stone bowl. Love hearing the sizzle as you get your order. It’s in the Koreatown Plaza food court, so the food is pretty fast(depending on how busy it is of course). They have about 25 different things on the menu, ranging from stews and noodles to dumplings and different types of bimbimbap. I think this is one of the oldest places at the location, the green and red neon signs are unmistakable. Good and efficient plus he price is right!

Standard Korean place. I think I have stayed in Seoul too long and now I have ruined myself when it comes to Korean places in America. But this place was decently good for its price. There was a lot of food and I was quite full. I recommend it when shopping in Koreantown Plaza. It’s cheap and there are plenty of seats in the food court for a large group of people! And you can always go to the Korean Market in the same building to buy drinks for your meal. There’s also a boba place in the food court. You can have yourself a complete full satisfying meal for around $ 10!!! :)

I haven’t been to any Korean food courts in NorCal. I’ve eaten Korean food at a few places, but I was only recently introduced to the awesomeness of bibimbap, so I only have one other place to compare this place’s bibimbap to. That is why I was here, as I heard this place had the best bibimbap in SoCal, and that might well be true. Sura in Long Beach, where I was introduced to bibimbap, does make it pretty tastily, but this place beats the pants off it as far as bibimbap goes(they’re still my go-to for ktacos though). Tons of super-tasty food for 8 bucks = very yes.(I was a little sad at there not being all that much meat in the beef kibimbap I had, but honestly, it didn’t even need it.) Kinda funny feeling, though, as a white dude, feeling like a minority for an hour — the whole time we were there(we also looked around the mall and bought some awesome cheap sake, which I’d been wanting for a while, at the market next door), I saw a grand total of 4 other non-Asian people. Our service wasn’t any different as a result, it was just kinda funny. Guess it’s too far out of the way for all the crowds of hip foody gaijin?

Great stone bowls. I come to this Korean food court about once a week I try to pick something different from the each food vendor but I keep coming back here for their stone bowls which sizzle when they give it to you. Let it sit for 5 – 7 minutes to make the rice at the bottom crispy. Try the ban chan they serve you which changes over time and season. They do take a few minutes to get it out to you but it’s because they make it all fresh.
