Hidden Gem! I feel like Indiana Jones when I come down to this whole sale store, because it’s as if I am traveling into a dungeon or dark cave full of jewels that so many people don’t know about! The cheapest fish I have ever encountered! Yes, it’s all frozen, but the fish thaws into tender taste bud gems! Oh and if you’re as nori sheet obsessed as I am, you will be SHOCKED: $ 9.99 for 100 sheets!

Didn’t realize this was a wholesale store… but in retrospect, everything makes sense now. Large quantities along with your typical sized grocery items. In terms of sashimi prices, they were the same as the regular Galleria Market(which I think is fresher). They do have some pretty good deals here though, and it can get quite hectic on the weekends. Like REALLYHECTIC. Reminds me of Marina Market… kinda.

Wholesale open to the public. :] You don’t need a seller’s permit, a business license, or pay a membership fee like you do at Costco, etc. etc. Just drive down to the basement, grab a cart and SHOPON~ Best part of wholesale is that you don’t have to pay tax on any of the items :] but the bad part is. everything’s so big. so if you know you can’t finish eating everything. buy it from the market upstairs :] Don’t expect great customer service here. no one’s down there to help you except for the cashiers who will scan the stuff you’ll buy. and it’s kind ofa hassle to bring all the items for price check since a lot of their stuff doesn’t have a price tag on it. blah. If you HAVE to ask for help… ask the hispanics!!! They are more friendly and helpful than the damn Koreans. (I once asked for help from this one Korean guy I always see when I go, and he just told me go ask someone else for help… –_– so rude) Oh, and they sell those bigggg pot lids that you use as a grill. like you see at Honey Pig. I want one of themz for BBQ @ home: PP *Sometimes they have a crazy sale on brown rice (you know how expensive those things can get!!) I bought two 20lb bags for $ 6.99 each :]

Beneath the Koreatown Galleria lies the basement floor. Here are Korean bulk foods. It’s sort of like a Korean Costco. Just about everything is jumbo sized, much of it foreign to me, though still interesting. They have enormous bags of dried radish roots, fern shoots, chile & black pepper, an assortment of grains, such as rices, barley & even sacks of toasted sesame seeds. Gigantic bags of dried shitake mushrooms, as big as I could carry. Cases of dried noodles, already cooked riice, good in case of an earthquake to be prepared. In the frozen department there’s whole fish that will meet you @ eye level. It’s kind of unearthly. I didn’t buy anything here, though it was an eye opener. They have some freshly made noodles & mandu wrappers in the refrigerated section by the cashier. However a better selection is to be had upstairs in the regular supermarket: There are some smaller boxes of tea, bags of snacks, such as cookies, crackers & chips. I guess they’re not much into junk food.
