This place is one of my favorites in LA. I come here anytime I am in the area. My go to is the no animal burger which is awesome. Tonight I got The Partridge Family dinner which was amazing, and a lot of food. Crispy fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, greens, corn pudding and a mini waffle. I don’t think anything on the menu here is just average. They also have a rotating list of craft beers. It’s nice to sit outside and enjoy the food and a beer. The only downside is that none of their sandwiches come with fries. You have to order them separately.

The breakfast burritos use to be amazing, but they changed the sauce so it’s bland. The chorizo is super salty. I feel like everything in this place is covered in sour cream… Our server was the only part that was decent. She was very sweet and attentive. The best part is that as you walk the side walk to come in or leave the cooks hang their heads out the door to ogle you and say things like«mmmm mommy» I don’t usually pay to be cat called…

Went there for a ice cream sundae at 3 on the morning however their food wasn’t that great. Their sandwiches were sloppy and so were their burgers. They looked disgusting, my friend only finished half of her burger. They also didn’t have many things like mashed potatoes. The waitress also gave my friends attitude. The bathrooms weren’t nice kept either. Probably not going back at all.

The food was decent but the service was better. I had the enchiladas and they were decent, not memorable but decent. I locked the waffle with ice cream, it was amazing a must have.

This is one of my top 2 diners in LA. Interesting clientele and great food. I like to come here after I’ve had a rough night, and drown my emotions in fried food. I usually order the veggie burger, which had a really nice-flavored patty, avocado, pickles, onion, lettuce and tomato and chipotle mayo. Then I add the side of 50⁄50 sweet potato fries and onion rings. The onion rings are really the high point of the meal. Other things I’ve really enjoyed here are the chocolate cake, a grilled cheese with tomato and avocado, and the veggie sandwich. Once I took a date here and he got the poor boy, which looked amazing too. I like the hipster-ish interior, but I love being able to sit outside when it’s sunny.

Got my fix delsihhhh. However my foodie buddie was not crazy about his 2×4 breakfast he said the chicken sausage was mediocre. I had the coffee shop grilled cheese OMG so good and dipped in the tomato basil soup to die for nom nom. I had the hunka hunka pancake its banana pb choc single layer pancake add your own butter and syrup so delish!!! Good food right after a late night movie. Wee!

I’m not sure what happened to this place, but I used to love this place. I’d bring all my guests new to California here for the Hollywood diner experience, and they would love it. Recently, a friend visiting from France wanted to come back here again since he had such a great experience. But we were kind of sad to see that the menu had completely changed. What happened to the«Hunka Hunka Burnin Love» Pancakes? He ended up opting for the«Mr. Frenchie» French toast, which I thought looked TOTALLY boring and typical. It’s supposed to be covered in cereal, but compared to some other brunch places I’ve been to, it was very sparse and lackluster. The menu is completely boring and the omelette I got, while fresh, was also just very typical. I was so disappointed. I’m not sure if the inside décor changed as well, but it also seemed to be less decorated than I remember. It was all just so so expensive for what you get. The only extra star I would give this place is for the cool outside décor, and the fresh ingredients. Otherwise, it’s just not worth visiting. I’ll have to find a new diner to bring all my guests.

Went here for breakfast this morning, and although it was busy — they were turning the tables very quickly! We were seated immediately, my girlfriend and I, and had some waters at the table within a minute or two. They came back to check on us once before we ordered, but we weren’t ready yet. I opted for a menu item that I can’t remember the name of, it’s not on the website — but it was delicious! It was composed of two poached eggs with bacon crumbles and hollandaise sauce on top, served on two halves of an oven-baked and stuffed tomato, with hash browns on the plate as well. We were in and out of this place in less than an hour, they’re on top of it here. It felt like only a couple minutes went by before we got our food! Definitely going back again soon. Update: it’s called the«Fredstone»

The 2016 Unilocal500, Review #083: I enjoyed the old Hollywood flare that this 24⁄7 eating establishment has. Compete with sketches upon the walls of famous actors and actresses from days gone by, the booths are semi-circular and have a headrest on them, like a late 50s car would. The menu is a delight that offers something for everyone. They even have a section of the menu for late night dining. It is called something like«Drunkards and Stoners»… I will be back eventually. I totally love this quaint section of L.A.

We passed this place years ago. Bookmarked it. Passed it again and again but just never went. Every time we passed, we would both say, «ah, we gotta go there.» We’re just not big breakfast spenders. Rather have a burger and a beer. But we finally made it. Never mind the stars. Never mind the bad parking. It was different. And different was good. Diner with a little Latin flavor. Well, it had to taste good too. And it did. She wussed out and got the avocado toast. It looks and tastes pretty darn good. And if you’re a chick, it’s a killer low cal breakfast. I went for a big ol plate of biscuits and gravy where the biscuits are drowned in creamy, hearty sauce. But, I didn’t get that. What I got was much better. Jalapeño biscuits with eggs and a spicy gravy. Not drenched but enough to make each bite delicious. I would definitely order it again and again and again. We sat at the counter. Watched them grind the coffee beans fresh. Got our water and coffee filled frequently. Great service. All I know is that I can’t make that biscuits and gravy at home. So I will gladly go back to eat there.

Pretty weak diner if you ask me, I ordered the poorest boy sandwich for pick upend what I got was some bread, and barely any chicken, I asked for no tomato twice, and then confirming no tomato at the end, still came with tomato once I picked it up. Communication sucked, quality sucked, I can tell you with out a doubt I would not recommend or return here

The quality of the food here is good. The atmosphere is fun. The menu is diverse. I have to take away a star because, for our group of 8, they brought the food as it became ready, and there was like literally a 30 minute gap between when the first meal(the pot pie of the day) and the last meal(an omelette) was delivered. This is really not convenient, and not good service. My husband ordered a poboy, and he added shrimp, which they charged $ 3 extra for and didn’t put that much of it on there either. His sandwich and fries was nearly $ 20 which is kind of a joke.

Been coming here for years. lucy burger and bossa nova are a must! Usually service is slacking a bit but the last few times we had the cute blonde tattooed waitress. Super attentive, honest about suggestions, and great with our kid. My 3 year old daughter loved her knowledge of all the my little pony dolls scattered across the table! My clumsy kid also spilled water and the waitress ran over with a towel and asked if she’s giving her dolls a bath! It’s so rare to find serving staff so patient with children. If you are going and have kids make sure to keep a look out for her! I tried the santa fe frittata which she said was very underrated and she was right! Delicious! My husband had the pot pie(also a suggestion) and couldn’t stop raving about it.

I’ve been coming to Fred 62 for about ten years now, and I can say that this is the best place to hang out and have a late snack in Los Angeles. I would definitely recommend stopping over here to eat after a Hollywood Bowl concert or basketball game from the Staples Center. For those of you that don’t know, this is the place were the«original» red velvet cake was created. The producers of the film«Steel Magnolias» hired Fred 62 to do the famous armadillo grooms cake in the film. Not sure if that’s true, but that’s what the waitress told us. I absolutely love this diner. They have very unique dishes on the menu not to mention the names. My top two suggestions would either be the«Juicy Lucy» burger or The California Omelette. I usually order Mac n’ Cheese Balls, which are deep fried macaroni and cheese balls. It is the only time I’ll allow myself to succumb to fried foods late nights! It can get very busy all day and night. There’s street parking and public parking across the street, but it usually gets packed in. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area!

Tl;dr: This place promised a table for 8 people and then reneged completely the day of. The quality of the food here is pretty besides the point for me. It’s like the food you can get at every other café in Los Feliz or Silverlake, but the customer service at other restaurants is rarely so shitty as to fuck up eight peoples’ plans. I called earlier in the week to see if I could secure a table for 8 people on Saturday, since I have family visiting from another country. They told me they did not take reservations in advance, but that if I called the day of(Saturday) that they would be able to set a table aside since it is a large party. Fast forward to Saturday, I call at 10am to see if I can set aside the table for around noon, just as the previous employee I spoke with had told me to do. The person I am now speaking with informs me that«the weekend is the busiest time»(no shit?) and that they can’t hold the table for us. I’m fully aware that the weekend is the busiest time for ANY restaurant, which is why I called basically an entire week in advance to make sure that me and my 7 relatives wouldn’t be standing outside waiting for a giant table to open up. It wasn’t even that they didn’t have any room. This guy simply refused to entertain the idea despite that very idea having been provided by the restaurant itself. In any case, a restaurant should respect the fact that one of its employees gave information that resulted in plans being made(and other plans not being made). They could have simply made an exception and held the table the since it was 100% their employees mistakes, but instead I had to scramble for last minute reservations elsewhere on OpenTable, which at that point has become pretty slim. The other option would have been for them to simply tell us they don’t take reservations to begin with, but I get the feeling they are so greedy for every possible customer that they are fine with totally contradicting themselves depending on what happens to be the most convenient thing for them at the time.

When the Italian eatery next door was closed, I stumbled upon Fred 62. Their menu is simple. I opted for the Pork Belly Bah Minh. At $ 13 with a side of cole slaw it was OK. But, if I am going to pay $ 13 for such a sandwich, I would rather go to Mendocino Farms.

I’ve only been to Fred 62 a few times, ever. I remember it being better than what I experienced the other day. We accidentally spilled water, and it was not attended to ASAP. All they did was put the yelllow«Wet Floor» cone on it. We got our food before we got our utensils, and when we asked for it, while addressing the spilled water, one server said something like«which would you rather have first, the utensils or the water cleaned up?» Um, how about both! I know it was busy, but it was not THAT busy! Anyway, fine, don’t clean the water, but how about replacing the cup? We put the cup on the side of the table and asked for more water. Another server filled that same cup with water, before I told him it fell on the floor. He said, «yes, I know if fell on the floor.» I said… «but IT fell on the floor…» It took a while for him to get that the cup TOUCHED the floor. He went and got another cup(I hope.) Now regarding the food, it was good, but just above OK. I got a simple BLTA. There was a good amount of thick cut bacon, but it would have been easier to eat if they were crispier. The texture was just kind of hard to chew. It didn’t help that the bread was just lightly toasted. I would have liked to see it with a few more pieces of lettuce as well. The giant slice of pickle that came with the meal would have been tasty if it wasn’t loaded with salt. Don’t bother ordering the fries… yes, it’s cute that they are shoestring, but they were on the soggy side. I love the old timey décor and car seats with headrest in the booths. It’s just a shame that the experience was tainted with mediocrity.

Regarding service I can say that the staff seems reasonably attentive and, with the exception of the dessert which was nothing much and the fries that were considerably overcooked, the food was decent. BUT…VERYIMPORTANT: My sandwich(which otherwise was really good) said on menu that it comes with«smoked tomato aoli» sauce. Pretty much ANYONE would assume that this means, ummm, smoked tomato aoli sauce? Actually no! It somehow to them it means: smoked tomato aoli, which is not so good for those of us who have ANALLERGYTOMUSTARD. Which I only figured out a few bites into the sandwich unfortunately. At that point I just took the bread off and ate without the top slice. When I told the waiter he seemed nonplussed, like I had commented on the weather. Hello? Customer is allergic to something that was NOTINDICATED on your menu and I am not getting a response? Not even an offer to bring me another slice of bread? Weird. Fred 62 — If the menu had said that sandwich comes with a «tangy sauce» or some other vague metaphor I would ask if there is mustard in it. But who — anywhere — would interpret«pesto ranch sauce» as containing mustard? And then completely not respond when alerted to this?

What the F How are they still in business? Awful bland food. Like… Very very basic sandwiches. Typical monstrous flavorless sandwiches where everything falls into an oblivion mess with the first bite. Desserts are the typical high sugar high fats cheap desserts you’d buy at Ralph’s. Exaggeratedly sweet apple pie topped with a store bought high sugar ice cream, or a sugary brownie topped with the same ice cream. Never ever again. How did I go for a second time, I’ll never understand.

Checked this place out yesterday in the afternoon and the food was bomb. We ordered the BLTA and the short rib sandwich and both were delissh. The winner was definitely the short rib! The meat was so tender and juicy. TRYIT! The chili, you can tell, is homemade and has the right amount of meat and beans. Eat it all down with a strawberry and banana milkshake!(Not pictured) WOW. AMAZING! Will definitely check this place out late night. For all the sleepy heads in the AM, the booth seats have head rests, pretty awesome!

Late night diner. This place is ok I have an interesting menu is a very interesting looking diner. However they have a time when you see the only order these 7 or 8 items during this time window and then you can only order these seven or eight items during this time window and then you can only order these couple of items during the late night time window. Now the rest of the menu is available all the time. But I had never seen the some items available sometimes and other items not. However we did make her a night whenever we saw a famous person Reggie Watts he was sitting at the booth right behind us so that made the trip worth it.

Everything tastes great at 2am! A group of us stumbled(read ‘über’) in here after seeing Nightmares on Wax in downtown. Craving Tommy’s burgers I was swayed by the group to come here and I have to say. left completely satisfied. My sloppy Joe burger was just the right amount of unmanageable mess, and my friend’s much cleaner burgers would have been described as delicious, if they’d taken a second from stuffing their faces to talk. Friendly service was an amazing surprise at 2am and our waiter was attentive, polite and jokey. I’ll be sure to make a trip here when those cravings start again.

Fred 62 is a great place. The food is always great, the service is great(most of the time). As always, the parking can be difficult depending on when you drop by. One great thing, they are open 24 hours a day. Most chefs will eat here once they are done with nightly service at their place.

Fred 62 is a great place to grab a late-night bite after seeing a show at the Greek. It’s also a good alternative for 24-eats when you don’t want to visit Denny’s or Norms in the middle of the night. It does get crowded, especially if there is a show going on that night, but they have indoor and outdoor seating, so the wait time usually goes by pretty quick. Their menu is extensive and they have everything from breakfast to soups, vegan/veggie sandwiches and dishes, and some great desserts. During serving hours, they have two beers on tap as well a few different wines to enjoy with your meal. I went with their mango lemonade and it was a good balance of both sweet and tart. When it’s cooler temps, I usually go for the soups, but most of the time settle for their Bossa Nova which is a huge waffle with dulce de leche sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Perfect for sharing or you can take it on by yourself if you want a gut bomb. When I’m not desserting, sandwiches are usually a good choice and I think my favorite is the turkey club. It’s sliced turkey, a bun, avocado, tomato, bacon, cheese and more. It comes with fries or your choice of salad. Parking is a little hard, but they do have some spots on the street. I’ve always found a place for my car, though you might need to make a couple of loops as it’s near houses and apartments, so people are always coming and going. Prices are average, but the servings are big. We’ve always had great servers, so feel free to ask them their recommendations if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the menu!

Was looking for some late night spots that served French toast or waffles. But after two failed attempts, we were pointed in the direction of Fred 62. I was impressed by how clean the restaurant was and by the service. I didn’t get the name of the gal that served us but she was awesome — even tho I was looking all scrubby. Lol It was almost midnight. I wasn’t about to get out of my pjs guys. Lol! Anyways the French toast was fluffy and amazing !!! I can’t wait to go back. The turkey sausage though, was alright. It didn’t taste like turkey and felt rubbery and tasted sweet. But the server checked with the kitchen to make sure it was indeed turkey. The hash browns and eggs were totally on point. Love that this place is 24 hours!

I quite like this place for late night grubbing. I’ve come here twice now after seeing comedy shows in Hollywood, and the food has been pretty good each time. It is diner fare, but as far as diners go in LA, I enjoy it. I’ve tended to order off of their drunkards and stoners menu(available 11pm-3am): I had the f-bomb once(mac and cheese balls covered in chili: definitely good drunk food) it was delicious, and I’ve also had the lobster tacos which were underwhelming, but totally fine after a few beers. I’ve also had a few milkshakes here which I would highly recommend. The black and white one was my favorite, but the espresso one is pretty good too. My friends once got a chocolate banana one, and to quote them«damn that’s good.» Parking in the area isn’t bad: I usually end up snagging a spot in the neighborhood surrounding the place. And the service is better than at most of the diners I’ve been to.

So after catching the movie in the theater nearby, my friend and I were hungry again and were ready to eat. We passed by this place walking down the sidewalk and decided it would be as good a place as any to grab a quick bite. It’s supposed to be a 50s type restaurant serving typical 50s diner food. The décor inside was nice and comfortable with tables and counter seating that fit the 50s motif. Being that it was a nice sunny day however, we decided to sit outside on their sidewalk dining area which had umbrellas that offered some shade from the sun. Since I was on a strict diet regimen, I really was limited to what I could order and was looking for some sort of salad. I saw they had a few salads on the menu and one stuck out which was the Ahi Tuna salad. After confirming that a few ingredient modifications could be made, I went ahead and ordered that. Okay, it wasn’t the best salad I’ve ever had. I felt it was a little on the small side especially at the price for it and there were only a few pieces of ahi tuna. I don’t think I’d order this again and decided that this place is better-suited to the comfort foods which I will be able to have on a cheat day at a later date after I’m finished with my diet. There are a lot of restaurants serving this type of fare in the city and since I’ll only really have one day out of the week in which to splurge on these types of comfort foods, I’m not sure this would be one of the first places I’d think about when I’m looking for this type of cuisine since it didn’t really wow me. It’s open 24⁄7 which is also a plus for those occasions where I say, heck with the diet regimen and just eat some food which I know is bad for me :)

Decent service, open 24 hours a day, Fred’s is your hipster version of a 24 hour Denny’s or Norm’s. Have their breakfast, their specialty sandwiches, and their classic American fare. You can people watch with a table on Vermont(outside seating) or grab a nice table inside. The prices are reasonable, the food is decent.
