what a sweet, courteous, and talented stylist fran is! every haircut by her has been nothing less than perfect, which is a challenge given the coarse and unmanageable nature of my hair. i very highly recommend fran to anybody in the market for an amazing haircut.

Found Fran through Heartbeat House and fell in love. Very friendly and a wonderful haircut experience. If you like to sit down and have someone who’s skilled and trained make you beautiful, than go to Fran! I also sent my sister, who always brings pictures and knows exactly what she wants, and Fran was able to do wonders for her as well! Highly recommend!

Fran is amazing. She always cuts my hair exactly how I want (or need) and she’s a great colorist as well. It’s a pleasure to sit with her while she works, she’s always warm, accommodating and funny. She’s positive, gives good advise and always works with me to schedule appointments that are convenient. Also, you can’t beat her prices for the kind of works she does. And she never tries to upsell you in an obnoxious way. I love Fran!

Fran is incredible! She gave me my first pixie cut ever, and it came out gorgeous! I couldn’t be happier with my cut. Fran is definitely my new stylist for life. Go see her, she’s awesome.

Fran provides a really good haircut, and is an excellent conversationalist to boot! It’s usually very difficult to get someone in this area who knows how to cut Asian hair, so her skills are very much appreciated.

Just the other day Fran told me a couple of hilarious stories, one about getting assaulted by an aggressive goose in Echo Park and another about a group of homeless guys that really like to party. And the whole time she was telling me these stories, she was making me look goddamn sexy.
Fran knows how to cut hair. I’ve gone to her several times, and I’ve never once been dissatisfied. Now granted, when she’s cutting my hair, she’s working with a thick, lustrous mane of silken, chocolatey locks, the kind of hair-​palette most hair dressers only dream about. But it can be messed up. Like when this one guy at Shorty’s gave me a faux hawk. Not good.
And she does it with scissors. I respect that. Any monkey with a functioning outlet can run a pair of electric clippers over my head. But Fran clips my hair with grace, precision, finesse, and the difference shows.
When I got home from my haircut, my girlfriend took one look at my head and said, Fran?” I nodded. she said, «she’s the only one who knows how to cut your hair.»
Word, baby. Word.

Fran is a fun, easy going person and the «hair cut experience» was enjoyable. She offered me a drink and made enjoyable conversation.
The haircut was grew in nicely, although, $ 45 is a little steep for a men’s haircut.

I explained to her of my problems of my previous stylist and she still gave me the same cut and messed up the nice growth I had going on. I also noticed they don’t have a wide variety of hair products like other salons for any type of hair all they do is have the basics moose and hairspray. Also she didn’t give out any tips on how to style your hair like other stylist it was just cut cut ok bye.
She’s real down to earth though and nice person to talk too.
I wouldn’t go back.

THE BEST! I’ve been going to Fran for a couple of years. I met her when she was right next door to TJoe’s on Hyperion. Then on to MIX and now she’s in a great space, The Complex. I look forward to my monthly visit. THere’s always interesting art displayed (for sale). Always a great cut. Lots of fun. Great conversation. Professional but oh sooo entertaining. We’ve shared some awesome stories. Just an excellent experience all around.

Awesome! She took my photo of some random dude and made my hair look pretty close to that. And the best part is I didn’t even notice. Thanks Fran. I’ll definitely be back!

i actually went here probably five months ago, following these Unilocal reviews, but had not yet written a review because 1) i had mentioned to fran that i had seen her on Unilocal and that i Unilocaled myself, and then felt self-​conscious that maybe she’d read my review that night and be like, i remember that girl, and because 2) for the first few days of my haircut, i didn’t quite know what to make of it, it was so new, so novel, so different.
i usually get an «A» cut or a layered look, pretty run of the mill, but i wanted something different, so i went to a different salon, and brought in a picture of a «mullet» that i found on google images. a cute mullet, not like a full-​on mullet. this was more of an assymetrical modified-​mullet, with diagonal bangs across my face. after a few gesticulations, a showing of the picture on my iphone, and the backstory that i just got a job with the county and needed to look county-​appropriate, she immediately saw what i was going for and gave me a dazzling cut. i was more just surprised at how much it changed my overall look initially, that i didn’t know how i felt about it. but after a few days, i felt comfortable with it, and got a lot of compliments about it.
i will go here again. oh, and fran is super nice too, and easy to talk to.

I hate getting haircuts. Just hate it. I hated it so much I would force myself to go only twice a year for a bi-​annual cleanup. Then I met Fran! Sweet butterlovin’ Jebus how things changed! Fran not only gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had, but she’s also super sweet, tons of fun, and really cute! Now I get my haircut every 6 — 8 weeks like a normal person. It really shows too; I go to grad school where the girl to guy ratio is at least 5 to 1 and those ladies are always telling me how good my hair is! I literally have to beat them off with a stick. No kidding.
Listen up, fellas. It’s time to move on from Supercuts or your grandma or your Flowbee. Go see Fran and let her change how the rest of the world looks at you (and your hair in particular)!

After having twiddled around all over Silverlake trying to find a decent salon, I decided to give Fran a go while she was at Salon Mix because she seemed to have a lot of sincere followers. It’s next to impossible to find a decent stylist on Unilocal because every f’ing salon seems to have 5-​star reviews (yes, even Fran’s page I know) but I’m telling you, once you see Fran you won’t regret it. I know the pain in the as-​s it can be bouncing from mediocre cut to mediocre cut, there’s plenty of talentless people working in this area that seem to all have attended the same 5-​minute beauty salon school — such is why I so fully endorse Fran, she’s actually really talented. Fran gives great cuts and doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to what you’re looking for.

Fran is awesome! She totally listened to my needs and did what I wanted beautifully! My hair is thin, long, grows slow and breaks easily. She worked with all that and gave me a great cut!
I recommend Fran!

4 months ago I went and had my hair cut with Fran at Salon Mix and it was the best haircut I’ve ever had. I hadn’t had a haircut in over a year and was super nervous. I was soooo happy to have found someone who listened to what I wanted, but also gave insight and input to ideas and styles I could try.
After three months i went to schedule a follow up with Fran at Salon Mix and they said she was gone, and didn’t want to tell me where she went.
I sulked, and got a good haircut from another girl, but it wasn’t nearly as good as what Fran did.
For a mens haircut and style there’s no one I’ve found better than Fran.
I’m so glad to have found this review and Fran, I thought I had lost her.

Fran is one of the most down-​to-​earth, sincere and funny people I’ve met in a long time. Plus, she’s awesome at what she does. If you want to talk, talk — if you want to just have your ‘do done, just chill. Right away, I felt like she and I went way back.
She’s at a new place («The Complex») that’s super cool. There’s easy street parking, a quiet loft space, and you might be the only one there getting your hair done, so it feels more personal than at a traditional salon.

Indeed Unilocal,5 stars «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» is an accurate response to Fran Lee’s amazing hair skills. I get compliments on my hair almost on a daily basis. To be honest, it gets a little annoying… but what can I say? I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.
I just gave a referral the other day and apparently the word back was that Fran has moved to a new salon. Everyone take note: Fran is now at Salon Mix in Atwater. Since I don’t want anyone to miss out on the goods, here’s the info:

What a great little salon!
After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I decided to go with Hairdooz. I called in the morning and they were able to take me right away. Their very accommodating for walk-​ins.
They set me up with Fran. She’s a great hair stylist who knows her stuff. I’m constantly getting complements on my hair. Thanks Fran, ur awesome!

I’m thrilled with how Fran made me over with my edgy pixie cut (wonders for my wispy, fine, unruly hair!) and the new color – taking it from mousy blonde to reddish (which perked up my complexion).
I can’t wait to show everyone. It’s more than just a hairdo for me – it’s a STATEMENT. And Fran helped me make it happen.

The traffic and parking on Hyperion, especially in this area of a Trader Joe’s on one side and Gelson’s on the other are two challenges. Other than that, the atmosphere was very relaxed. And for me, taking this plunge into a new look, the ambience was important to put me at ease.
