I would have liked a less June-gloomy day, but all in all a wonderful event. Choice of trucks almost overwhelming, but moving at a slow and steady pace I got my full, and was able to sample several I’d been missing.(Fave by far: Flying Pig’s pork belly on bun) Glad my gluttony went for a good cause. My only ‘beef’: I made a point to arrive as the doors opened at 11am, and a number of trucks weren’t open yet. If the fest opens at 11am, you should be ready to serve. One truck was ready to serve… but the person with the money drawer hadn’t arrived, so they couldn’t sell food or make change. So they lost sales as I went to trucks that were open. Still, that’s on the truck, not the event.

What a great tasty surprise to stumble upon today. We were looking forward to the IE Food Truck Fest on the 18th and this event was a yummy teaser to hold us over until the Fest… From the beef kimchi tacos, delectable raggin’ gumbo and lobster rolls to the mouth-watering waffles and ice-cream…It was a hit with only a few misses with ordinary things such as french fries and mediocre raviolis. All in all, a great couple of hours to satisfy undecided palates.

This thing was horribly done and a complete monetary rape. 1. I went for 2 trucks, the first I finally found, you’d think for $ 10 they’d point me to the dim sum truck I went for and couldn’t find which brings me to point 2 2. The dim sum truck, one of two trucks I paid $ 5 to try and avoid chasing down was nowhere to be found. After a long time and being pointed around the park I’m told they cancelled, but they didn’t update anything to reflect that! What’s $ 10 for??? 3. All drinks were raised in price, for $ 10 I expected SOMETHING not an increased rape in drink prices. I won’t ever attend something by this company again. I’m sort of confused at the high ratings Unilocalers gave it even with their mentioning of the damning negatives…

50+ food trucks in one place? A dream come true. They had everything you could possibly imagine: Shaved Ice. BBQ. Sliders. Ramen. Boba. Icecream sandwiches. Dim Sum. Waffles. Grilled Cheese. Sushi. Filipino, Argentine, Greek, Brazilian, Korean trucks… just to name a few. $ 10 to get in for this seven hour long event, and a portion of the proceeds goes to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. There was also over 40 vendors present, carnival games, live music performances, an acoustic tent, art/car displays, and an electronic gaming truck! I really liked that xylophone display. it was really fun to play with it. There was also a Unilocal tent, and I got a cool bag and necklace after signing up :) I was really afraid that it would be really crowded(last food truck festival I went to was a disaster) But it was not! Wait time was usually 5 minutes for most trucks… and up to 15 – 20 minutes for the popular trucks!(Grilled cheese!!) Although I wish it wasn’t sprinkling in the beginning, my friends and I had a blast! We all sampled 12 trucks!(Ta Bom, Rebel Bite, Tornado Potato, Temaki, Jogasaki, Tropical Shaved Ice, Crepes Bonaparte, Flying Pig, The Boba Truck, Tango Mango, Sweetesbakeshop, and Chef Che). Yes. yes. I know. I kinda let myself go here. My favorite: JOGASAKI! One thing that really bothered me is that none of the food trucks sold drinks because they wanted you to pay for the overpriced ones at the bar :\ $ 3 for water/soda? $ 7 for beer? No thanks. I hope they have this again next year :)
