Though I enjoy the food here I will no longer come here ever again! I typically go here during lunch hour and have never had an issue before. Just recently I purchased food and saved it for a later time. I come back in to set my food down and had planned to get a drink and I immediately receive stares from the older woman who works there. Before I can even place my things down the older woman accuses me of purchasing food from another place despite having the exact bag and condiments they gave me for my food. After attempting to explain to her that I purchased the food from them The older woman was still very rude and nasty. The older man who works at the cash register also decided to imply the same thing despite the numerous times he’s seen me! Overall the food is good but the customer service is… HORRIBLE!

Today I found a nose hair in my spicy pork. I thought I could look past the fact that no one uses gloves to prep… but nah… Onwards to the next cheap and tasty spot nearby.

Rude kitchen staff. I came here around 10am. It was slow. My eye caught the daily special featuring chicken curry and rice. I almost ordered a $ 5 veggie burger. But… the staff was extremely impatient. The Latino chef was extremely impatient that I order and get the hell out. The Latina lady with the red cap started giggling and started talking about me in Spanish. It was my first time there and I needed some time to look through the menu. Fed up with their rudeness and their pushy tactics for me to order and the hell out of their sight, I just left. The Korean owners should just fire these losers.

I come here semi-frequently. It’s never very busy which is nice. I call ahead and it’s ready by the time I get there. Mom and pop joint that’s been there for more than a few years and has gone through more than a few owners according to my co-works, the connoisseurs of local lunch spots. I’ve had their breakfast burritos, coffee a burger, a chicken sandwich, a teriyaki chicken sandwich and teriyaki chicken. With that being said I can only vouch for their breakfast burritos. Everything else I’ve tried is so, so very bland and simple it’s crazy. A little salt and pepper would be a MAJOR improvement. I’m not asking for the world, but really if they stepped their food game up I bet the business would be crazy. With places like Plan Check, Kachi and Organic Corner within a few hundred feet, it’s surprising this is what they offer. Now the food wasn’t horrible or disgusting, just very simple. Prices are more than reasonable which is nice for the area, $ 6.50 out the door for a burger and fries. $ 5 for a breakfast burrito. Ah yes, the burritos, they’re great, greasy, cheesy, goodness, the perfect thing after a long night to get you back in gear and the salsa they throw in is perfect. The four stars are pretty much a burrito review.ha. The staff is VERY friendly too, once or twice and they remember your name. Lastly, and I hate to bash a mom and pop spot, the coffee is horrible, seriously it’s just bitter brown water. If it’s coffee you’re searching for go to Starbucks across the street or Kachi next door. It might run you twice as much but it’ll be good. PS– their fries are great.

Excellent little shop in the City of Hope building. It could use a little TLC but they’re always friendly. I just wish they took credit cards. Oh, and must try their breakfast burritos.

I had the teriyaki beef with rice and salad. It was approximately 7 bucks and you pay with cash only. The size was good and reasonable. I really liked it, the beef was great and it had onions and bellpeppers. They give you plenty of teriyaki sauce and dressing, although you can only choose from thousand island or ranch.

Quick, good, cheap, and yummy. I don’t understand the bad reviews. You really can’t get any simple than that. I would give 5 stars but they only take cash so that’s an inconvenience for me since I hardly ever have any one me. Otherwise I’d be there every day! My favorites are: Healthy Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Tacos Plate, and the Breakfast Burrito! Oh, and there fries are so YUM! I also had soup there once — Vegetable Noodle Soup– it was pretty good as well. Stir clear of the hamburgers though. Unless you are on a diet or something and really don’t like to indulge yourself. I pretty tasteless.

Hole in a wall joint inside the lobby of an office building. Is that even possible? Ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. They just literally scramble the eggs and put a slice of cheapo cheese on top. They have stuff that you basically make and taste as if you made it from home. Prices are ok I guess. This was the only place that had breakfast around the area. We were in town for a dctor’s appointment. Cash only.

5 of us walked down to this Deli for lunch, all of us were very disappointed. The sandwhiches were very small for $ 8 — we were all still hungry, quality was just ok — would not recomend this place…

Love these guys we drive them crazy we order cheddar burritos all the time and even though they don’t use real cheddar they do an fantastic job. Great prices for the food and the owners operate the place them selves and you will get food with some love.

I work right across the street, and for my coworkers and me, Express Deli is our lunchtime default! Whenever we do not have a particular craving or just don’t want to go far, we hit up what we call«the snack shack.» This place is pretty reliable in terms of quick convenient service, affordable prices, and decent food. Food is definitely not gourmet, and it’s not very healthy –but there’s a good variety to choose from. I took my boyfriend to work with my one day. We decided to try and grab breakfast somewhere before hand. He wanted a breakfast burrito. I took a chance, hoping Express Deli would have one, and it definitely delivered! Like I said, it has a great variety! Staff here is definitely very nice. Same familiar faces everyday! mom n’ pop shop for sure! Gotta love it.

If you’re looking for a good and healthy meal, then don’t go here. This place is a good ol’ mom and pop greasy spoon that also serves things like the tacos, spaghetti and the occasional Korean dish. They also have the rack of chips that I covet, as well as a handy selection of cereals in to-go portions and instant noodle bowls of the generic and Korean variety. There’s also ice cream to satisfy the sweet tooth. I haven’t been too adventurous with ordering different things off their menu, and my staples are the patty melt and the salmon burger. You can get them with fries or potato salad, which are both pretty good potatoey goodness — the fries are sprinkled with a nice amount of seasoning salt and the potato salad has that slightly sweet tang that’s always welcome. They’ve also got hash browns for breakfast, which are done well, but not well done(which I prefer). These are the same potatoes that they load into their breakfast burrito, which comes with egg and cheese and your choice of sausage or bacon. The sausage is pretty good and salty, and one’s thankful for having all that starch to balance off the meat. The watery salsa that comes with it adds a lot of flavor to the whole thing, as well. This place does not champion culinary innovation by any means, but what it’s great for is a nice and heavy meal when you want it, and it will never change from that. It’s good enough that people call in big orders to go all the time. The cook behind the counter may be grumpy, but he’s balanced out by the owners and the [grand?]daughter that ring you up and keep the place clean and well-stocked. Just make sure that you have cash on you as they don’t accept credit — but it’s very convenient that there’s an ATM across the hall in the building.

Express Deli was my JOINT when I used to work at this building. Besides the usual chips, candy + drinks, they have a full kitchen with a menu that also features daily specials. The Korean owners + the Latin cooks are all very nice. The owners constantly speak to me in Korean and try to make my experience as enjoyable as possible. I was saddened to hear that Susan no longer works there, as she was my favorite. The cooks make DELICIOUS food. My personal favorite is the breakfast burrito, which has your choice of bacon or sausage, hashbrowns + cheese. I don’t know how they make them so delicious, but even though I no longer work there, I still go there from time to time to indulge. My co-workers like their spicy shrimp soup + the turkey burgers.

At this very moment I wish I were a maniacal and evil-minded crazy person, cuz I would blow this place up. Literally, my blood is boiling right now as my mind is scheming how I could possibly put this place out of business(plant vermin nests in there possibly???) I have never been so angry at a craphole restaurant before in my life. As Nicole said, this shit hole is really the only place in our building to eat. And I, as well, have been disappointed so many times, and try my darndest to avoid the place. Well I am currently doing a fabulous job sticking to my diet, and on my way into the office this morning I was feeling great cuz I woke up early enough to make it to yoga. And siiiince breakfast is the most important meal I decided to stop by the hell pit and get one egg over easy. Well the assholes wouldn’t let me get just one egg, they said I had to get a minimum of two. I told them I was on a special diet, and the greedy mother effers didn’t care much. The guy checking out was appalled that they wouldn’t just give me one egg(the place was empty other than him) as was I. The place sucks ass. The cook is grumpy as shit and it’s obvious he hates his job, the workers and owners are greedy and rude, it’s dirty and greasy, and one time I asked for a little paper cup to separate my sauce from my meal since I was taking it to go and they wanted to charge me fifty cents for a stupid little paper cup!!! Everything is overpriced, and the food is garbage. Long story short I very plainly looked at everyone in the restaurant and said«I am a paying customer who has wasted many dollars on your crappy food and you won’t cook me one egg? Well you just lost my business forever, you guys suck, and you always have!» and walked out the door. I don’t care if I am starving to death and that is the last place on earth with food, I would rather die than eat there. Moment of truth… I really hope that you don’t have to give at least one star to places that should not be in business… drum rollllll… DAMMIT! guess you do. boooooo… well y’all, just pretend like that start ain’t there.

the only reason i ever even eat at this place is because it is the restaurant in the lobby of my office. so when i didn’t go grocery shopping for the week, or wake up late and don’t eat breakfast, i have to eat here. this office building is located at the top of the hill and several blocks away from the«good food» so in a pinch, this is the only place to grab a quick bite. hopefully that will be changing soon with the opening of the mix-use apartment complex across the street. having said that, this place has a delicious, Vietnamese salad called bibim bab, or something like that i can’t spell. the only reason its good is cuz the owners are Vietnamese. granted I’ve never had this salad anywhere else, but only because I’ve never seen it on the menu anywhere else. maybe it only exists here at the express deli LA. well anyway, I’ve had the unfortunate pleasure of eating their eggs several times, uh! not good. whenever you ask for a side of like ranch or salsa(which is surprisingly good, hence the need for extra to overpower the nasty eggs), they charge you for it. it’s just awful greasy food, no healthy options what-so-ever. I’ve tried to ban this place on several occasions, but sometimes i just have no other choice.
