Elysian Valley Recreational Center

I grew up across the street from this park. Visiting this place brings back memories of my childhood. It’s nice to see that the park is still beautiful and running smoothly with activities for kids as well as adults. Back when I grew up here there were a lot of cholos and gangsters hanging out during the day as well as the evenings. And the walls were covered in grafitti. I’m not so sure how it is now, but I’ve started to visit this park on a regular basis to play some pick up basketball with some of the regulars here. Some of which I went to school with as a child. I miss this place and I look forward to visiting more often.

They have free classes for kids year round. The Elysian Valley neighborhood council meets here along with many other organizations. They also have men’s basketball. Check it out!
