Electric Karma has a great vibe with authentic Indian decoration. Staff is very friendly. Food is tasty, we had the Lamb Curry, Tandoori Platter and Garlic Naan. Curry and Naan were delicious. Tandoori Platter could have been a bit juicier, but overall you get great Indian food at a great price. Will come again.

I have been going to Electric Kharma for years and it has been very good and consistent but on my most recent trip I found it was not up to the level I remember. Plus there was a B in the window This to me means there must have been a change in the cooking staff and the owner is not there enough to keep the place clean We ordered the shrimp tandoori as an appetizer and the shrimp were mealie. Tasty but the texture was not good Both the onion and garlic naan were dense and heavy and too doughy as if an amateur just learned how to make naan We asked for vegetables Khorma with no potatoes yet there were potatoes We asked for white meat only chicken tikka masala and they gave us dark meat. They did replace it but it still was not as good as in the past The palak planner was good The Bengan Bharta was tasteless to me. The chicken tikka was excellent though as well as the raita which was rich and creamy and the vegetable biryani I will try this place once more– if it is not improved I will need to search for a new Indian spot

I’m so happy I found this place. The owner was so kind and provided wonderful service. I had the bhindi masala… They use fresh bhindi and you can taste the difference. It was very good and not too oily like other restaurants can tend to make it. The ambience is beautiful… The décor is rich and the place looks lovely. They also play Bollywood music videos. :) Overall I loved it and will be back.

Sadly, I need to update my review to caution against ordering delivery from Electric Karma. In my initial review I mentioned that the food was great — we had found them on Unilocal after all! — but that there had been a glitch with our delivery. Basically they sent someone else’s food to us and ours got to us after quite a bit of confusion — I have no idea what happened for the poor other people! But, when the food came, it was good enough that I overlooked that misstep and the somewhat high prices for Indian food and gave them four stars. We were hankering for Indian food again last night so decided to try ordering from them again. Well, it was a giant cluster. After an hour and a half of waiting(we had ordered with the«deliver ASAP» option) I called and the gentleman who answered said he would call the driver and find out what was going on and call me back. I waited 10 minutes and called again. Then I was told, «oh yes, the driver got lost but will be there in 5 minutes» …Of course I am thinking to myself: in this age of gps, what driver gets lost? As the time I had asked: what if it’s cold when it gets here and I was told: don’t worry, it will be fine, if it’s not, you call us back. Well, after TWOHOURS, our food finally arrived. It felt like maybe it would still be warmish so we accepted it. But the minute we opened it we realized it was cold. It definitely does NOT taste anywhere near as good cold. I called back and complained about this and was given a new story about how we live a little far away and there’s traffic and it will take 80 to 90 to minutes always to get to us. I checked google maps and it showed that it should have been 15 minutes in the car — zero traffic. I said this was our SECOND time with issues with delivery and I told them so and said I had just spent a LOT of money to wait two hours and then get cold food and I wanted them to do something about. He refused to do anything about our existing order but said«next time I will give you 20% off, I promise, call next time and I will give you 20 percent off and make sure your order gets to you.» Well, that is a nice promise, but it means nothing after really bad delivery service TWICE and no effort to reconcile our existing dissatisfaction. I have no interest in ordering delivery from them again… sadly, I will reiterate, because their food is REALLYGOOD, and I would discourage others from risking such annoyances with delivery as well.

Loved the food, loved the service, and definitely loved the vibe(in the back room)! It was nice to walk in and immediately be greeted, and to feel welcome. Our server and the manager/owner(? I don’t remember, exactly) actually asked if we’d want to move to the SUPER cool, and more secluded back area, where there’s lower(and more traditionally Indian) seating, and cushions galore. The front looks like a typical fancy Indian place, but the back room is decorated with giant wall murals. As far as food goes, the cuisine is kind of the«Mughal-style» in terms of offerings, which makes sense as far as the atmosphere of this place is concerned. We got the palak paneer, naan, malai kofta, and several other dishes that proved to be amazing and satisfactory with respect to quantity, also. The drink menu looks interesting but we were too full to explore that — so next time, I guess!

went with a big party and honestly the big B at the front door was a turn off. Then all the food they brought out was pretty cold, I expected alot more based on prior Unilocal reviews.

Love this place! First of all, they are right next to my house… But really, the food here is delicious and they have just the right breads and sauces to make it perfect. We love getting take out or dining in their lovely dining rooms!

Ordered delivery the other night. Food was great. Ordered veggie pakoras — great flavor, would have been perfect in the restaurant I am sure. As with anything battered, a tiny bit soggy on delivery, but would definitely still order again. Also, nirvana chicken — its worthy of being one of their specialties, really great flavor; sag paneer — great flavor, great texture both to the spinach and the cheese, plain naan — standard but good, chef’s vegetable karma special — also really tasty, vegetable basmati rice which was good, and mango lassis — yum! Basically, we ordered from here because the reviews on Unilocal were very positive and they did not disappoint. There was a bit of confusion with our delivery initially — the delivery guy brought someone else’s order. But they rectified it asap. We’ll definitely order from here again and hope to visit the restaurant itself soon too!

I love this place so much, it’s perfect for date night. The owner and staff are always warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is great, it’s perfectly lit and great for long conversations over a beautiful dinner. I love that the tables are not too close together. My favorite dishes are the Nirvana Chicken(so so good), the Tandoori Platter, along with their garlic naan. I love that we always leave with leftovers too due to the generous portions.

The worst food I ever had in My life. I ordered Lamb biryani, after some time they did bring in small plate and said your lamb biryani is here, honestly it worth around 5 $ but they were charged us 15 $. My sincere suggestion those who like INDIANFOOD. Please avoid this place.

The worst ever food I have had in LA…15 $ for the Vegetarian Thali and what you get is a miniature of the food you ordered for. A $ 14 worth Lamb Biriyani which is kind of served in a saucer and I mean literally a saucepan which looks similar to the one used by those roadside tea vendors in india. I have to make a point that even a Indian student over here in LA cooks better than what these guys served. Good luck if you are expecting some good Indian food… You get it better in the ready to eat packets… I am surprised to see how so many people have found this food worth the price they paid. I would give a negative rating instead which apparently is not an option on Unilocal. Lastly the service is too bad. You get the same food in 40 mins if you order on Tapingo, Grubhub or any of those online food ordering sites. But they made us wait for an hour to serve this wonderful stuff. Also, what a great disaster was waiting for us today. They had to play Uday Chopra songs on their screen with mute ON. And a gujarati 80’s song to cover the Uday Chopra disaster.

Don’t go there for lunch on a Sunday it seems like they’re not supposed to be open for diners due to lack of service. We were wondering why they’re even open. We waited over 30 minutes for the Samosas that never came. The waiter said that the kitchen ran out of dough. I didn’t think you can go wrong with chicken tikka masala but mine was definitely wrong. There’s a big full bar maybe the cocktails are better than the food.

Two stars, purely because of the ambience. Individual ratings(all out of 5 stars) Ambience — 5 Food — 2 Service — 1 We loved as we stepped into the restaurant, with hopes of good food after a tiring long day sight seeing in LA. The excellent rating this place had was what added more hope, and looking back I wonder how they got a 4 star odd rating, somethings fishy. Anyways, it all went downhill after we sat down and we’re ready to order. The waiter was rude, and impatient while taking the order. The food came in pretty quickly. The food itself was very average, nothing close to the Indian food I have had in this country. We waited for an eternity for someone to show up with our naan, but no sign of it. Not sure if we offended the waiter or the owner or the random guy on the street somehow, no one even came and refilled the water. Forget checking in about food. Not coming back here again, and seriously makes me wonder about authenticity of Unilocal ratings(not reviews). I see good and bad reviews for this place, but super star rating overall.

I came here because I was craving Indian in my neighborhood and saw the reviews. I was so excited this place was walking distance. I get there on Sunday night to dine-in for dinner and even though they had so much space they wanted to sit me at a table with the wall covering half the space. I asked to be seated at the table next to it and they didn’t seem happy. This is what is wrong about this place: Bad service– I was given the«you don’t matter to me because you are one person and I won’t make any money off of you» attitude. From the moment I said I was 1 person, to ordering, to service during the meal– they made me feel like I wasn’t worth their time. — I asked for Spicy vindaloo and it was so bland, I had to ask for spice on the side. They didn’t seem happy to serve me. Even with the spicy sauce it was still BAD. — My water cup was ignored and refilled once when they filled the neighbor’s. Again it seemef like a huge favor and inconvenience. They made a big mistake because I eat out with friends all the time and if I liked this place ad much as I wanted to like it, I would bring people and come often(as I live literally walking distance) This place made me feel insignificant, gave me poor service, and on top of that the food wasn’t good. It’s a shame because I really liked the interior and the floor style seating, but unfortunately I won’t be back. Don’t waste your money here. If you want GREAT Indian with Fantastic service go to Anarkali on Melrose. You will be treated like family there, not just a walking profit. 2 Stars for décor and the floor seating, that’s it.

AMAZINGSERVICE! The owner of the restaurant goes to each table individually and makes sure that everything is great or if anyone has any other concerns. Came here on a Wednesday night for my book club meeting. It was easy to locate — google maps takes you exactly by the location. Parking can be little difficult — especially if you are like me and horrible at parallel parking. I had to drive a block further, pass S Sweetzer and park in the neighborhood for FREE. Restaurant does have a valet parking for flat $ 10.00. It has outdoor patio seating and an indoor seating. I loved the décor — very elegant and took me back to India. The walls are draped with saree and pillows with Indian artwork is spread around the restaurant. One can notice the handiwork of the painting by their front counter — the lady holding a lotus. The articulate stitching from India is vivid on the table cloth under the glass. Their décor is a great mixture of all the artwork and tradition from across the India. There is a huge projector playing Bollywood music videos on the wall. It has a typical Indian style seating room — usually people in India sit on the floor and eat their food. This is probably the first Indian restaurant I have been to with the typical Indian style seating — wish I had known earlier would have definitely reserved that room and sat in there. Food was really delicious! I went with two of my girlfriends, at first when our food arrived we thought it was lot of food but we finished pretty much everything! Oh the food proportions are pretty big! We ordered following items: – Sev Puri: I came in little late so I didn’t have an opportunity to try it but one of my friend told me that it was really great. It made her feel like she was in Mumbai and having the sev puri from the stalls. – Chicken Saag: I am vegetarian but my friend told me that it had the right amount of spices, and chicken was well made. She had got it with the white chicken. She said that she usually doesn’t like spinach with her salads but she really liked the vegetable here. – Paneer Tikka Masal: It was delicious, and it was the first item gone from our order. For Indian food, one needs to be very careful in regards to adding the right amount of spices and this dish is one great example of it. – Malai Kofta: I hesitate to order this plate sometimes because if there are too many nuts added I usually don’t tend to like it. It was pretty good here though. – Garlic Naan: It is a pretty obvious choice and one can never go wrong with this choice. – Kabuli Naan: I felt little courageous after tasting their food and decided to order this plate. The paste of coconuts and cherries was well made and it was the right amount in a naan. They had spread it inside the naan and it gave that perfect sweet and savory taste. – Vegetable Biryani: I usually don’t order rice at Indian food — I am not a big fan of rice items but after looking at my fellow Unilocaler’s reviews I thought to give it a try and I was not disappointed at all. I am craving for it right now while I am writing this review. Everything came out pretty fast, didn’t have to wait for long. It has a full bar with quite a variety of options. The bathroom is past their kitchen area — it is pretty clean. I judge restaurants or places based on how clean their restrooms are. Staff is very friendly and helpful. By the time we were done with our dinner around 8:30 pm place started filling up and all of a sudden it got busy for a regular Wednesday night. Don’t forget to check in for 15% off from your bill — if all of you are Unilocalers when you visit, the offer is valid per table only. We forgot to let our server know about the offer but the price is pretty reasonable compared to their proportions and the service. P. S. We must have been really enjoying the food that one lady who was eating by herself asked us about our favorite dishes here. She let us know that she has few friends visiting her this weekend she was trying this restaurant before she can bring them here and she loved it. We let her know about what we ordered and that we loved it and I highly recommend her to book their Indian seating room and to enjoy that experience with her friends.

The reviews looked great so, of course, I went to try this place out. My bf noticed the menu had random items that were not consistent with a solid Indian rest so we were already hesitant. I’m Indian, so my standards are higher but anyone could tell this place spent more time on their décor than food. Service was good, décor is gorgeous but the food, atrocious. It was a waste of money to have food that doesn’t taste like Indian food. The butter chicken wasn’t the right color, Chicken wasn’t good and the mixed grill chicken didn’t look fully cooked. I don’t write many Unilocal reviews at all, but this place needs a new chef quick.

The cocktails are overly sweet, the wine was left over and not stored properly so it smelled like canned tomatoes. The food is inconsistent, this concept needs more attention to detail. Just finished the food, now I get why this restaurant is busy– fantastic kitchen!

Very classy and elegant establishment. You would think by walking inside it’d probably set you back a few, but that’s hardly the case. I decided to come in today to a cozy intimate lunchdate with myself. I made prior reservations here on Unilocal but that wasn’t really needed since once I walked in I saw I was the only person in there. I assume making reservations are best for large groups or the weekends. I ordered the vegetarian 2 combo. That comes with basmanti rice, naan and 3 items to mix into the rice plus a salad. The drink I ordered was the mango lassy. The garlic naan wasn’t that garlic in taste but it was still good. The basmanti rice wasn’t plentiful but it was enough for a small meal tray(mind you, I’m use to buffets). The tika masala was the best but that’s true anywhere ive ever ate at. The spinach and the potatoe dish were spiced(seasoned right), but nothing i’d order separate on their own. Now the salad was interesting within its own right. Like the other items, it was small as in sample size small. It had this dressing on it that made it a true Indian salad. A little different for my tastebuds but edible. The mango lassy was perfect and makes me want to purchase my blender earlier(not waiting for Black Friday), just so I can make them everyday! Its a nice place to sit down and enjoy an Indian meal during the weekday without a lot of fuss. I personally enjoy solitude and the relaxing romantic Indian music jamming in the background. For under $ 8 this place puts a lot of other Indian restaurants to shame. Just don’t expect to get as full as a pig as you would at a buffet. Thats probably not a bad thing though. After I ate here, I was able to continue my shopping without all the stomach cramping I usually get when I visit Indian restaurants.

My go to neighborhood spot for Indian in LA. I love this place. The people who work here are always so nice and helpful with the menu, if you have guests who are unfamiliar with Indian food. The vibe and décor here are AWESOME if you are dining in. Love the Bollywood screenings. This place is great for take out too. The nan always arrives hot and fresh. My favorite dishes here are the chicken or paneer makhani or tikka masala. I also love the chef’s special vegetables and the samosas with tamarind chutney.

So disappointed with this restaurant. Discussing flys available to your liking right under your table. Been on a prime location they should have a fly catcher especially for the outside seating and the staff totally careless if you are happy or not. Host came and ask us how was everything minutes after we had complain about the flys under the table. Lentil soup was very acidity with too much lemon juice, the garlic bread almost without garlic and the chicken masala tasted more like chicken teriyaki. After all this they insult me with only offering a 5% discount. Seriously? Please keep it to save up to buy a fly catcher machine. I will never go back to this place.

Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special today for lunch. The lunch special comes with the dal of the day, rice, naan and aloo matter, as well as a mini salad. This is a nice option for anyone who prefers a little variety or is looking for a cheaper choice. Despite getting delivery, the food arrived hot and the chicken tikka masala had a good flavor. Although I don’t necessarily need all the additional sides and thought that the aloo matter was a little heavy on the peas, everything was pretty good. I’d have to try some other dishes to confirm the rating, but so far I’d give it a 4.

Spontaneously checked this spot out with my girlfriend after some afternoon hookah down the street, and we were amazed in every way by how delicious and comforting this spot was. First off, the hospitality was spectacular. We had three waiters and I believe the owner check up on us on a regular basis to accommodate our needs and ensure that we were pleased with our meal. Any time we glanced over, they were right there to help. The back seating area is so relaxing. I love that you can sit on the ground while staying extremely comfortable. The food and wine selection is quite extensive, but everything we tried was utterly delicious. We especially loved one of our desserts that one of the waiters recommended. I don’t remember the name, but they were two sweet and delicious balls of goodness. I don’t think I’ve left a restaurant so satisfied to my stomach. In fact, my body was even relaxed the next morning because of how delicious and nourishing the food was. I don’t think I could be more satisfied. Clearly, this place deserves 5 stars.

The food here is exceptional, very rich in flavor and fresh. The service is a bit slow, and I’ve never really seen the place quite that crowded, which is surprising considering how cute the setup is and how romantic and decorated the ambiance is. I would recommend this place for those who enjoy an authentic tasting Indian dish, who want to relax and enjoy the experience all together.

Wowee! I have been walking by this place for over a year and finally convinced myself to go in and give it a try. Usually I lament at how awful the Indian Food in LA(that I’ve tried) is and how I wish I could import it from back in Aus– no longer! Electric Karma is some of the best curry I have had in a very long time! Their Lamb Korma is ridiculous, you have to get it! Also strongly recommend the Cheese Naan and the Chicken Tikka. The décor is great, really relaxed atmosphere and lovely staff, perfect for a date night or dinner with the family. Very impressed with this food.
