El Tejado

I ordered a small shrimp cocktail and they took forever to bring it although the restaurant was rather empty. I had horrible service as the waitress never came back once to check on me. I’m a super slow eater but that didn’t matter. I ended up walking to the register to pay my tab. They charged me $ 16.34 for a small cocktail. I questioned the bill and she said I ordered a large which I didn’t! She refused to honor what I ordered. To boot the cocktail was just barely OK. I had to do some mad doctoring up. First and last time for me!

Bad Service!!! They took forever to bring my husbands food we had all finish eating already when i ask her when was his plate gonna Be served? She said she forgot he had order! Shhhhmmm Always Check Your Receipt they were charging us an order double and she didnt want to fix it! Never going back there !

first review i ever make! 5 7 mins to sit us down we were the only ones waiting at that time there was 2 tables empty one inside one outside. the lady said she wld have the outside table cleaned for us took 5 mins to have someone clean it then abt 10 mins to get our order. we ordered a tostada de camaron my husband and i. simple and fast to make. 25 minutes and nothing!!! it was our first time here too i understand they were super busy but the waitresses kept helping the same tables over and over! so we just paid our drinks and left! they dont even deserve 1 star!

It’s my birthday and this has to be the saddest one I’ve ever had. First off, I walked in on a horrible house band playing loudness; I would call it music but I don’t think that’s what it is. Secondly, came for the lobster to find out that it was sold out. We ordered the shrimp burrito, the 7 mares soup, and breaded shrimp. The burrito was ok; mostly rice and a few shrimp clumped up in the same section of the burrito. The soup and the breaded shrimp however were very tasty. They serve you free chips and salsa in which the salsa is pretty good as well. Our waitress offered mediocre service; lack in bringing out the things we needed (I.e. Lemon, tortillas, etc). I’m very sorry to say that I rarely write reviews while I’m still at dinner but it’s so loud that I can’t even converse with the people at my table and decided to be rude and get on my phone instead. I hope the person eating the 7 mares notices that I’m giving him dirty looks because he’s not eating it fast enough for us to leave! Sorry dad :/

Not a bad spot to hang out at but man the music is way too loud and you can’t even talk to your peeps. So if you are going there to chit chat, it ain’t gona happen. You want to go sit w/​people and not talk to them, then you good. I had read other reviews about the waitresses being shady. They sure are. If you are a woman they will not attend to you cause you might not tip them as much as a drunk horny man will. Kinda sucks, I like to tip for good service. Micheladas a lil whack. I did enjoy the aguachiles though, those were pretty dayum good. So not too bad as long as you are with good company. Didn’t try the other food. Maybe next time. We will go w/​men so they can pay attention to us.

I don’t even know where to star… First ridiculous u have to pay $ 5 parking to park outside their restaurant, food is really not worth those prices… a soda is $ 4 …service is really bad… The females there are something else… i saw one greeting 2 elder man customers with kisses… like who the fu*** sees that in a «family» restaurant… And lastly i was over charge ! I usually NEVER mind paying for food whatever is it .but for the firat time iT bother me it was hust NOT worth it. the reason why im rating this place is because it was the WORST place i have ever been to… If ur looking for a fam. Good food, good time and good service… THIS IS NOT THE PLACE

Personally I love the aguachiles there, the micheladas are pretty good. Everything I think is good but the service is horrible hands down unless you’re a guy offering something good.
Everytime I go to El Tejado I get bad service, I’ve worked as a waitress for many years and I’ve never seen service like this place. I don’t go to any other place for the aguachiles, but when I go I’m always hoping I get a waitress who is attentive and on her toes, I mean you want a good tip right? Well they don’t feel like they have to work for it, they’re half assing all the time.
There has been many occasions where I’ve gotten an attitude, and when I ask for something they don’t bring it until I’m almost done with my meal…
Today I was pretty upset because my mother told me she went for lunch and found a white hair in her food, she told the waitress, the waitress said «ok» took the plate and never came back to ask if she’d like something else or to see if she wanted anything, she disappeared until someone else came to charge her. My mother then noticed she got charged for the food she only had 3 bites of and told the waitress, the waitress still had the audacity to tell my mom, «Pues canas aqui nadie tiene.» Really?! Who does that?
The place isn’t a five star restaurant but damn come on, I’m sure the owners want business and they want to see their business do good but to have waitresses like this makes the place look really horrible.

I used to come here for lunch when I worked in the area and remember the food being tasty but this is no longer the case. The Ceviche was super dry and bland. The Tostada Mixta was was also pretty tasteless and had more imitation crab than anything else. My brother did enjoy his chilaquiles though! Pretty Pricey too and Extremely Loud since they had a live banda. The service was decent which is why I gave it 2 stars.

Okay i don’t write bad reviews. But let me make an exception.

The food in general was tasteless
We order 2x cocktails, 3x fish tacos, 1 mixed fajitas
The cocktails had no taste like eating shrimp on water the water had no flavor. The tacos on the other hand had too much flavor, SALT was the flavor super salty. Looked like quesadillas not tacos. And the fajitas had a very sour taste and burnt after taste the plate arrived with so much smoke and smelled like burnt wood which gave the entire food a burnt like taste .
The price $ 83+ for the 2cocktails 3x Tacos & 1 Fajita
CONCLUSION
Never again to come back horrible

We liked the atmosphere, there were many places to choose to sit and they had live music (Sat) We got acknowledged and got our order quickly. The Tostadas de ceviche de camaron and pescado were decent. We got our food quick. I ordered a lime margarita, waitress took so long to bring it. She brought me a strawberry flavored margarita. Had the flavor of 7up, wacky taste. My husband and I thought the small bottled Coke for 4 $ was expensive. We didn’t ask if they had fountain drinks. When we were finished, we asked for the bill, and servant never came back. After 10 min of waiting we approached the cashier and paid. (Place was not full)
Overall I would probably think twice if I’d like to go back:
24 $ for 1 fish tostada, 1 shrimp tostada, 1 Coke and 1 margarita
We were hoping to like this place since we like supporting local restaurants.

The steak and enchilada platter is very tasty! It hits the spot. I’d order it again.

La comida mas mediocre que he comido y el lugar no estaba lleno la mecera ni si quiera nos a tendio bien se equivoco hasta en las bebidas. Definitivamente no vuelo a regresar a este lugar.

We had the ceviche both shrimp and fish, chicken chimechanga, shrimp cocktail, fish tacos, and beef tacos. The octopus isn’t bad. We’ve driven past here for years and finally came in. On the weekends they have a live band in the afternoon which kind of adds to the ambiance. No AC so i would not come on a hot day for sure. Don’t think we’ll be returning.

Good prices and Good food! The manager (lady usually wearing a dress at the front) is super sweet, always greats me w a hug a kiss on the cheek.
I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for one specific waitress thats super lazy (inattentive) and has a bitchy attitude. She has a fake body all around a has a major B**** face. Prob in her early 40s, shes always there!
Oh and one more negative thing is that there is no dancing aloud. Although theres live music

Valet parking (because otherwise you have to park really far). I have ordered the fish tacos and shrimp ceviche tostadas here and both are really good. I always get «pulpo enamorado» plate (octopus fajita style) which comes with rice and coleslaw. Don’t care for the coleslaw but the octopus is good! If you plan to have a conversation during your meal this is not the place to be because they have live music on weekends. When it’s busy their service sucks which means on the weekends. I come here for the food and nothing more so my review is for the food and service. I also find the vendors annoying (roses, bracelets, CDs or whatno) but I know they’re trying to make a living so,… Yeah. That’s it.

We almost always have to valet our car cause parking sucks!
Despite the parking situation and not-so-great-service…hubby and I tend to come here about once a month to get our live banda music fix. He enjoys his Micheladas while my pregnant body enjoys some water and the food of course. The pulpo enamorado are like fajitas is my favorite dish here. Good spot for a date night if you like live Mexican music.

This place sucks balls !!! Service is HORRIBLE, prices is ridiculous for the amount that they serve and drinks you’ll be safe sticking with direct liquor or beer to avoid disappointments. It does not deserve not one star

The only reason I’m giving this place 5 stars is for their AGUACHILES, HOT FIYAA. lol
I have been on a mission to find bomb bomb AGUACHILES and Tejado just treats my boyfriend and I so good, LOL.
Their filetes are good too.
Prices are pretty high, and their beer is super expensive.
Overall good food, good customer service.

Best Ceviche In DTLA and The Band always plays good! Also don’t forget to try the fresh Oysters by ½ or Full Dozen!!! Steak taste great as well! And Don’t Forget to Tip The Band playing!

I would give this place a 3 ½ stars. I love live banda so I enjoyed it very much when I came here 3 weeks ago on a Friday night. It has valet parking for $ 3 & they park the cars in the same dark alley the restaurant is located at. So i am not a fan because it is too dark! The service was ok but its understandable since there were only two waitresses to accomodate everyone in the restaurant. I also didnt like the tiny restroom! Only two stalls and only two people can wait inside the restroom. Thats how small they are…worst restroom I’ve been too.. .
The tostada mixta was really good but the camarones a la diabla were disappointing. The sauce wasnt spicy and it was just bland.. .customers beware because they charge for sitting in the tent where the banda plays. We were surprised when we saw the bill and were charged $ 4 for a soda & $ 4 for a water. When we asked they said they included the fee they charge for sitting down to listen to the banda. We will be back again though to enjoy the banda play even if they charge for it. Its only a few dollars. And to try a new dish!
