A good friend of mine knew I had been searching for some great«hood» tacos, I moved to Arizona for a while so no longer knew where to go for tacos since my old guy wasn’t where I used to go. We get to El Pelons taco truck and I seen it was just him and his wife, very sweet nice people. We put our order in and didn’t take more than 10 minutes for them to have our tacos ready, you get to see them actually heating and preparing everything right in front of you so as you are watching them cook away your mouth can get a bit watery ;) and they also provide all the salsas you want to add and they also have champurado and or horchata depending on the wather. I took my first bite and the juice from the lime and green salsa was getting all over my hand which i do not mind the jucier the better, so I would not suggest taking it to go because by the time you get home your tortilla will be soggy. Of course after that I was hooked! Oh and now I drive to him all the time(coming from East Hollywood). I also tried the tortas and my oh my they can hit the spot!!! At first their was only one size which was huge now they have small, medium, or large. Trust me all these negative reviews on here just dont know what great«HOOD» tacos taste like. It can’t get better than this.

The lady that takes the orders should note the orders down on paper. She took our order made us wait 10mins then later tells us that we still haven’t ordered.

The worst tacos I ever had. I picked up 13 tacos to go the total was $ 16.50 each taco $ 1.25 the tortilla was falling apart they gave very little meat close to none very disappointed. I got 11 asada and 2 al pastor I started with al pastor and they gave me al pastor n finished of the tacos by adding buche which I never asked for. Then I open the asada n the same little portions of meat with tortillas falling apart and then I noticed that four of the Asada tacos the meat was red compared to the other meat I don’t recommend this place to anyone this place is garbage. I would give it no stars if Unilocal would let me but unfortunately it doesn’t

What screams LA cuisine better than tacos off a sidewalk grill? Nothing I say. I never actually know when this man is supposed to be here but whenever he is I always stop(yes even after having eaten dinner already) to get some al pastor tacos. It’s especially good when he adds the pineapple to your already delicious taco. I would’ve given El Pelon a 5 but I have to agree with other reviewers that it hasn’t been the same since he got an actual truck instead of the sidewalk griddle. Moving up in the world I suppose…

The first time I came here I was blown away, handmade tortillas Pastor on a trompo with pineapple Amazing salsas this was also three months ago Came here last night and saw that it was no longer a stand but a truck with some updates, very nice! However, one update means no trompo and no pineapple, which I’m pretty disappointed about I will say the tortillas were better than the first and the pastor is still VERY good, just not the same style/cut and I do really prefer the trompo kind.

The best Al Pastor in the HP. They moved and are now on Ave 56 and York, right next to El Super, which is technically South Ave 56. The tacos don’t start up until about 6pm, so we had some drinks in ‘Dena before coming over. I had dos de chorizo y dos de al pastor and they were excellent! I love how the pineapple flavoring adds to the spicyness of the meat. Neither the spices or the pineapple mess anything up. It’s a perfectly balanced al pastor taco. What also rocks is that the tortillas that they use are home made. The tacos are $ 1.25 each and they DONOT serve burritos here. I think they only have mulitas and maybe quesadillas in addition to the tacos. You came for the tacos, right?
