Had a horrible experience here. I was charged $ 2.00 per pupusa when the menu stated $ 1.85. I was also charged $ 1.00 per glass of water(TAPWATER!). I disputed the charges with a man that spoke minimal English. He claimed that water is on the menu? I couldn’t find it. There are many other pupuserias in LA. Don’t go to this shady joint that seems to charge different prices for non Spanish speakers.

Yay! I finally walked in, even though I live a half block away. I get intimidated about not blending in, so it took me a while to get my ass in here. Long story short, I am half Filipino half white, and all American dorky. Most everyone in the hood talks to me in Spanish first, so I get flustered. Last night I was hungry, walked into a small room packed full of guys… hehe, everyone stared like I was weird, but I just sat down and ordered the pork and cheese pupusas… I liked them. They make me think of what I love about grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas, but better. I got full off just two, but I am going back. The ladies were so nice! One waitress spoke mostly Spanish, but it worked. The other spoke English and seemed to understand my whole«help me pick something out to eat» quandry. Oh, so yeah, somebody Habla’s Ingles! hehe

Habla Ingles? No! If you feel like stepping into Central America, or El Salvador to be more specific, without ever getting onto a plane, then I have just the place for you. After a long day of playing fix-it man, one of my handymen turned me onto this place and I keep coming back. Why? He loves Pupusas! What the heck is a Pupusa, you wonder? It is a corn pancake, stuffed with your choice of goodies(cheese, pork, cheese and pork, chicken, beef, and pumpkin?), accompanied by pickled cabbage and salsa. How much is each one of these delectable treats? $ 1.85 a piece and two hit the spot just right. It is an interesting experience because the last few times I have been here the waitresses have not spoken any English, so if you can say«cerveza and Pupusas, por favor!» you are set. Gracias, señorita — and the smile means I will be back!
