Safe to say, I’m a regular here! Every time is a good time. Next to no problems ever, great service, great food, and fantastic prices! Roberto is my favorite server, though he does not work weekends(so I’ve been informed). I always look forward to the«#1» which has the best of everything :) The margaritas are awesome and hardcore, you have been warned!

My family and I were in the area and this restaurant really stuck out because of it’s location size and private parking lot. Obviously this is a Mexican restaurant, and I really enjoyed how they went over the top with décor and even their uniforms. We were greeted by a host and she walked us over to a table. I thought we would have to wait a while because the placed looked jam packed. I also noticed they have out door seating, very cute patio. A serve quickly came to take our order for beverages. I usually always order the same thing at mexican restaurants. However, they do offer more of a variety then a typical restaurant. So we then place all of orders. My family and I don’t get together often to it was nice to catch up, but we noticed that the food was taking a little long than normal. We somewhat became frustrated, but then the food arrived. I looked at my plate and I quite surprised that my enchiladas had chicken on top, I told the waiter but he said thats how they come, weird. I’ve never ever been to a restaurant where they have it like this. I was also unpleased with the overloading my beans and enchiladas had, I had to push it to the side because it was just way too much. My brothers agreed the food wasn’t great, the fries were stale. I wish the food would have been alot better because the ambience was perfect.

Good Mexican food with a vintagey vibe in a fun neighborhood. Family friendly, decent service, we would visit again next time we’re in LA.

A little spendy but worth it. Arguably the best Mexican food in LA.

I have dine here countless times and never once wrote a review. I live in California for more than 20 years and this Mexican place is the best in the state. I wish I have taken more food photo to show you but every time the food arrive on my table I would immediately grub and by the time I remembered to take picture it was already too late. I always ask my server what he/she recommended each time I’m there and they always have great recommendation. Then after dining there for a while, I realize that every items on the menu are super delicious.!! My favorite dishes are Shrimp tacos(street tacos), Guacamole Chunk(side dish), Chicken Burrito(with all the sauce on top), Shrimp Fajitas and Chicken Quesadilla. I probably try all the food in all categories at least once before. The only thing I haven’t try is the Tamale and their Salad. I’m not really a big fan of the«salad» since I’m at Mexican Restaurant. I want fulfilling food, why have a salad? If I want light I go to a place that has a salad bar. I love my server too. He always got great recommendation on alcohol drinks. Well, the drinks are terrific but sadly I never remembered the names of it lol. No, I’m not drunk! This is a type of restaurant where you can trust your server to get you the right drink. I don’t remembered how many different drinks I have gotten in the past but they were all pretty good. What you need to know: — Food comes in large portion. — It’s a valet only. I think it’s $ 3.50 or something like that. If you want to go to MILK to get dessert after El Coyote, walk straight there. Don’t bother walking to your car in an attempt to put your Togo food away. The valet guys are vicious man! Be careful. They won’t let you keep your car there even if it’s only for few more minutes…

Vintage LA style Mexican food. From the antiquated façade to the uneven floors inside, this is a taste of old LA. Food is good but not great. Portions are decent and the margaritas are good. Salsa has a kick to it. You can request the back room and have a semi private event while everyone pays for themselves. We felt like our own private banquet space. Loved the period Spanish art, very retro! A definite LA must. The inside is a maze and that adds to the charms private feel.

Me, my wife, and our little one come here at least once a week. The food is great(we always order the same thing lol) and the service can be a hit or miss. Generally its pretty on point, but there have been instances where I felt as if we were totally ignored. All in all awesome place, with a great authentic feel

There are only two items worth the money: Green Corn Tamales and the Enchilada Howard. Both hit the spot every time. Everything else is hit or miss in my opinion. This place is also great for parties or when friends are in town.

Great service, thank you Rosaria, «festive» décor, think X-mas 12 months a year and good food, not outstanding but good and served hot.

I used to love this place. After 5 years I came back again. The service needs to be stepped up. I waited over 15 minutes before my food order was taken. The minute I arrived I was seated right away. Nothing is worse then asking 3 times to refill your ice tea. Me and my guest started off the fresh guacamole that was excellent. After that I ordered the chicken burrito that was okay, not great. I felt the food could of been warmer. They have a great bar area to enjoy food or drinks. Would I come here again, maybe! They valet parking or street parking. One of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles.

I’ve been going here for the last 2 years. There is always a nice crowd and from the sound of it, a very long tradition of regulars. I don’t mind this place, clearly because I have come here quite a few times, but it’s not my favorite. The food is fine, the price is inexpensive, and service is quick. They don’t have queso dip(why why why haha) but their green corn tamales are amazing. I think the thing that gets me «ehhh» about this place is their cheese. It’s never quite melted. I’m not sure why. I love beans, but theirs aren’t super flavorful. Their chips and salsa are good and you can’t beat the price. They have a large lot, but it’s valet only. I’ve been lucky finding street parking but you do have to look!

My best friend and I tried coming down here 3 times now. Looks like third Time is the charm. Super cheap and tasty Mexican. Sadly they just serve fountain cola. Service was fast and friendly. Really cool décor.

El Coyote was my only reason to get out of Malibu to go to the city lol. I’ve been to Southern California so many times that I’ve never heard about this place until a few years ago through a trivia that I heard. This restaurant has been around for over 80 years, they must have done something right. The ambiance was kind of dim, but very colorfully decorated to compensate the dimness of the room. I didn’t care which table that I got as I was only there for the food. My friend and I shared the half order nachos, I got the chicken enchilada rancheros as the entrée, their house margarita, and we shared the flan. All of their dishes really hit the spot. Their margarita is definitely one of a kind, and I doubt that any other places can duplicate that. El Coyote and the staff have all been wonderful, I will definitely be back whenever I am in Los Angeles.

After driving up and down Melrose, Larchmont, Hollywood and then Beverly Blvd, we finally decided to just get some Mexican food at El Coyote.(Which is shocking because Mexican is NEVER my first choice). We had NOIDEA what to expect with this place, all I knew was that I was going to throw back the fajitas!(I tend to crave chicken like a pregnant woman does pickles in ice cream). The place was INSANELY crowded, seriously, half of Hollywood’s population was scarfing down tacos– I had NOCLUE this place was so popular! That being said, we were seated pretty quickly and I think our overall dining experience lasted about an hour! As I said, I ordered the chicken fajitas and they did NOT disappoint ATALL!!! Super flavorful, sautéed to perfection, complimented very well with the guac, and the PORTIONWASLARGEANDINCHARGE!(You better believe I ate it all). The pork carnitas were tasty as well but I was told they skimped on flavor, as did the rice and beans. So over all, this random pretty much«blindfolded» selection of where to eat was good! I would definitely come back and I think my dining companion would too but he’d probably order the beef fajitas instead. I would have given this restaurant three stars, but our waiter was great– fast & efficient– just the way I like it! *valet parking is available but you can easily park a block away for free street parking– just make sure to read signs!*

Food is your standard Cali-Mex fare. Margaritas are really good. Chips and salsa don’t disappoint. Prices are decent. Location is decent. Seating is great. Service is friendly. Will return when feeling like having boozy Mexiness.
