I’ve been seeing Penny for over 6 – 7 years now, and she’s the only one that I trust to cut my hair. I’ve had so many bad experiences, especially with Korean hair stylists that don’t listen to how much I want off and get snip happy. Penny makes sure she listens to me and only cuts exactly how much I request.
Penny is a perfectionist and takes great pride in her work. She will meticulously cut my hair for at least 45 minutes. I’ve been to some swanky Beverly Hills salons that cut my hair in 15 minutes and charge over $ 100. With Penny, I definitely feel that I am getting a great value.
They recently moved locations and name (check out the past reviews at Young Lee Hair Salon). The new location is really nice and the parking is much better!

Penny has been my hairstylist for 17 years. Need I say more? I drive from South Orange County to LA to see Penny.
We’ve been through curly perms, color, straight perms, magic perm, colors, my first scary dive into getting bangs, and a short short cut.
My hair stylist understands the trends but most importantly she listens and tries to understand what I want. When I explain the look, feeling, my lifestyle, Pinterest clips etc, she transforms that into a cut. There is always a conversation (questions/​answers) beforehand. She really cares about my challenges and works with it. Ultimately she cares about how satisfied I am with the look.
She is the former owner of Young Lee Salon on the 6th and I’m happy that she relocated to this beautiful salon. A cool feature of this place is the new hair washing station — your neck will thank you!

This is the new location for Young Lee Hair Salon that used top be on Sixth St. Penny has been doing my hair for almost a decade now and I would not go anywhere else. I’m asian, but have really unruly and wavy hair. There are few people who have been able to tame it without using harsh chemicals perms, and definitely no one in LA. I actually get compliments on my hair now, which was unfathomable before I met Penny. My brother also shares the unfortunate bad hair genes, but Penny had kept his locks in check as well. Would recommend to anyone — especially if you have problem hair that requires more than average skills to tame
