A lot of people may notice this place before but the majority of them always tend to ignore it. Nothing new to its place, when I come here, its like 1990’s or 80’s or something that is very old. Good thing they have good stuff like pork spare ribs.

At most BBQ places the chicken is my least favorite thing on the menu, but not here! Their chicken is sooo moist and yummy. Yams and the baked beans… Yessss! Cooked just like my granny. The owners are great and always so friendly

The brisket was well trimmed, lean and flavorful. The greens were tasty and the yams were delicious. The yams had fresh coconut and were not doused in butter and sugar. Nice touches include free corn on the cob and whole wheat bread. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Q. wants me to have something yummy without having a heart attack despite the ominous sounding combos(bypass). A very nice BBQ joint. Very competitive prices. And they are really trying — inexpensive but fun decorations. Stick with this place. It will get better.

I drove by Dr. Q last week on the way home from a barbecue outing. I think they opened recently since I’ve never heard of them before. There’s a big smoker out in front, but I don’t think they use it. The spare ribs I got were baked in an oven. No smokiness or smoke ring, and so much fat and grease it takes the humor out of the lunch specials’ names: Bypass, Double Bypass, Triple Bypass, and The Dr.‘s Orders. Each rib has 2 oz. meat, 1 oz. fat. Not kidding, I checked the leftovers when I got home. The meat was a little chewy, which was noticeable but not distracting, and crusty on the outside. They were well seasoned with salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Maybe the owners are on the Atkins diet? The two sides I got were collard greens and mac&cheese. Both leave much to be desired. The greens are the vinegary kind, which I like when it’s done right, but these were overcooked and slightly bitter. At least they weren’t salty. They put in a little red bell pepper, which is a good accenting flavor. There was no meaty flavor to the pot liquor. The mac&cheese needs more cheese. Eh, what else… oh yeah. The hot sauce is on the low end of medium, sort of ketchupy and weirdish. Not recommended. Ditto the corn. Boiled far too long. This is not a take out only barbecue joint. You can eat in, too. Free parking is in the back.
