I’ve consumed likely around 35 – 45 of Del Rey Deli sandwiches, love every bite. Portion Size: On the average to below average size depending on what bread you get. Inconsistent amount of meat. Somedays you’ll get a proportional sandwhich, other days literally half the amount of meat you got the last time. Probably my biggest complaint. Price: Cheapest sandwhich is $ 9 pre-tax; ouch. Sometimes the special sandwhich of the day will run you $ 13, and it fits in the palm of your pre-teen son’s hand. Yikes. I get that you have cool stickers, but I’d prefer you use tape to wrap my sandwhich and pass on the savings. But yet you offer avocado for $ 0.75 extra; this is too cheap. Not sure on who decided on this pricing matrix… Service: Pretty much the same folks have been working here. Rarely see them smile and kind of awkwardly standoffish. The«my sandwhich shop is trendier than yours» attitude, or a «Subway is down the street if you want» is what I get most of the time. I appear to be a new customer everytime despite spending $ 700 dollars here. It’s OK, I’m not here to make friends I just want a sandwhich. Conclusion: Started off thinking I would never get sick of this place. The more I went, I realized these are overpriced delicious sandwhiches. It’s just missing that X factor for what you pay. PS. I ordered a sandwhich and my girlfriend didn’t get anything. Once my sandwhich came she wanted to get the side soup with it. So I ask the guy behind the counter, «Hey can we add a soup to my order?»…“Sure! No problem!”($ 2.5 to add a soup to a sandwhich order combo)…My girlfriend goes up and the lady charges her $ 5.50, and even leaves a $ 1.00 tip just because. That kind of stuff bothers me, so I just ask him hey you charged her double; I thought I was getting the combo? I get an «uhm, yea…, sorry»…he looks at the gal who rang my girlfriend up, and she looks at me like I’m from outer space… doesn’t even offer me chips, or a drink? We just paid you $ 6.50 when it should have been $ 2.50? Back to Rinaldi’s I go!

Fresh veggies, large sandwiches, soup of the day was a sheep cheese cauliflower, and was so damn good. The bacon is 1.50 extra for any sandwich but adds a sweet bright maple brown sugar taste. Two large subs, two drinks, soup and chips for 30 bucks. The service is delightful and friendly! If you’re in the area stop in!

Great sandwich. I’m glad to have another solid lunch option in the neighborhood. Black Forest ham with Swiss on a pretzel bun. With everything. Outstanding.

I wanted to get something interesting to take on the plane and LA Times suggested this as a good choice for food near the airport. It’s not actually that convenient unless you are coming from the beach – it’s at the far end of Manchester Blvd, near the water, where it taps out into a residential neighborhood. I had the muffuletta($ 10) which was a-ok. It was too dry – I’d ask them to hit it with a little extra sauce next time. But a really nice side of brussels sprouts with prosciutto($ 4) kicks it up to 4 stars. They’re doing some imaginative things with their dishes in this little shop. Note: unlikely you’ll find parking in the tiny lot, but there’s street parking around the corner on Manchester.

This place is great. Came in here a few years ago and loved it, then moved to the neighborhood and immediately became a regular. Great meats and a super friendly staff!

I was having a really bad day on my visit to Del Rey Deli Co. I ordered the Cubano and was blown away at the quality and portion. These folks are doing it right.

THEREISNOCORNEDBEEFHERE!!! GOTOFROMIN’s. Cole Slaw is delicious; Pastrami is so-so; service is rude. I asked about Unilocal saying they have the # 1 best corned beef, and she said«We can’t help what people write on Unilocal…» Not true. If she was simply kind, I would have given her TWO stars…

Wanted to love this place, as I’m always looking for great subs in LA, and everyone who works here is really nice. But, ordered the veggie sub on the deli roll, and the rolls were stale. Also, the olives contained pits, which was a drag. Great coleslaw, though. Maybe will come back for a breakfast sandwich sometime.

This place is the go to spot for lunch in Playa Del Rey. Their attention to detail is fantastic and the sandwiches, salads, and soups are exceptional. I haven’t eaten 1 thing I didn’t like yet and we’ve been going here a bunch. The specials are killer. Recently, I made an order via their app and there was a glitch but called in and they took care of he problem immediately! Great service, great food = 5 stars.

You are the most delicious sandwich ever, Salmon BLT! If you love salmon sashimi, you are in for a treat. This isn’t made with salty, thin pieces of lox. Their cured salmon is thick-cut and the natural flavor totally shines through — it’s salmon like you’ve never had before! Added to their glazed bacon, it is the perfect combination. Now I understand why people would travel so far just for this sandwich, because I totally would too.

Great place to get a gourmet pretzel bread sandwich. Make sure to order«everything» as the toppings. Always check the daily specials too because the soups are amazing! I also like that you can get sides to-go. And if you go during the holidays and they have the stuffing sandwich order it. It’s so good. Note: It’s a little on the spendy side for lunch(but that seems to be a trend in Playa/Marina) if you get a drink and a side, and one of the ladies who works there can be rude/seems like she doesn’t want to be bothered. It’s become a Playa Del Rey staple for sure! Won’t disappoint.

We stopped in when they first opened on a Tuesday morning. Service was quick and the quality and flavor of the 2 sandwiches ordered were good, just a little skimpy on the filling. He ordered the Don, lot’s of variety of meat and cheese but the slices were really thin. For the price, we’ve had better. I ordered the Prosciutto Parma and it was also the same, 3 paper thin slices of meat, it was mostly bread. Everytime I took a bite, I got stringy sinew caught in my teeth. Flavor was good, it had everything on it, just pricey for what was in it. I’ve had better Prosciutto sandwiches on a roll with a lot more meat for under $ 8. We only stopped in because it was on the way back from the airport. We don’t plan on going back again.

Solid deli with great quality meat. They are located in a little business strip with limited parking in the lot(as the lot is shared with a few other businesses). You should be able to find free street parking within walking distance. The sandwiches are delicious. I tried the Don — salami, mortadella, capocollo, ham and proscuitto — I added fresh mozzarella and had it on the deli roll… it was delicious. The meat is very fresh. Sandwiches run between $ 8 — $ 12 depending on which one you want. They also sell certain meats and cheese by the pound and have a nice assortment of sides. The deli sides run at $ 3.50 for one or $ 5.50 for 2. We tried a pasta with pesto sauce and it was very tasty. I’ll definitely be returning.

I really didn’t like this place. I ordered a pastrami on rye. The bread was a marble rye and the slices of bread or so thick that I could hardly taste any of the pastrami. The pastrami was very stringy with lots of fat and not easy to eat. Between the super thick bread that took away all of the taste of the sandwich and the stringy pastrami I really didn’t enjoy even one bite. Also, I would expect much more meat on a true deli sandwich. Plus, what kind of deli doesn’t serve corned beef? Staff was relatively nice but the wait for this bad sandwich was too long as well.

I tend to give places I’m unimpressed with 3 tries, but I’ve been to the Del Rel Deli Co now 5 times and I just don’t understand what anyone sees in this area. Why 5 times? Well, 5 times because every LA online site raves about this place. It’s always on some list like, «best sandwich by LAX,» «best sandwich in the south bay,» or some other eye catching title. Food The sandwiches themselves are just not that good. I would say the best part of the sandwich is the bread, but everything else just tastes sub par. It feels like the creator of the sandwiches googled up all the trendy ingredients to put into a sandwich and slapped them all into their various creations. Of their list of sandwiches, i have tried: St. Jude, The Don, the Dr. Muffaletta, New Yorker pastrami, the breakfast burrito, another special turkey pastrami sandwich, and the breakfast sandwich. NONE of these sandwiches are impressive. The positive reviews confuse me to the point where I think people are just easily fooled by a place that has pour over coffee and bottled coca cola. As mentioned before, the breads are definitely very tasty though(really enjoyed the pretzel bread), but I don’t really care of the meats or condiments that go inside the bread. To be fair, the veggies do taste fresh and the meats taste fine, but none of the flavors truly marry. It would probably taste the same if I broke down the entire sandwich and ate each ingredient separately. Prices I think the prices are way too high for what is being offered. The profit margin must be huge. I have no qualms about paying high prices as long as I am getting what I paid for(for instance, I love Manhattan Beach Post Brunch). Services I have never felt welcome in this store. It feels like there are a few locals that the owners are friendly with, but the service was always slow, uninviting, and unfriendly. Today(the final straw), I had to wait over an hour for my sandwich. I was informed by the cashier that it was due to the fact that they had a great deal of call in orders. This makes sense except, 4 of the couples that ordered after me got their food before I did which made me doubt the veracity of his excuse. I understand orders get screwed up when times are busy, but at least give me the truth that my order was not taken instead of insulting my intelligence with a blatant lie. In conclusion, this ratings and reviews for this place baffle me so much that I have begun to wonder about my own taste and if I just have bad tastes in sandwiches. Even if this is possible, there is still no excuse for the awful services and overpriced sandwiches. Bonus: The place puts spinach in their breakfast burritos, what’s up with that?

There’s nothing that I love more than a great sandwich, and Del Rey Deli provides just that. I’m actually a pescetarian so I can’t speak too much to a lot of the sandwiches. But the house cured salmon is absolutely amazing. All their ingredients are quality and fresh and make for a great sandwich. Plus the workers are friendly and service is quick. I’m always sure to check out their sandwich of the day on Facebook to see what awesome combination they’ve come up with.

Del Rey Deli has great made to order sandwiches, tasty homemade soups(daily), some take out salads and great pour over coffee. Whenever I’m in the area and needing a sandwich I know Del Rey Deli will not disappoint. They have a combo for $ 2-$ 3 more which includes a soda and chips or a cup of soup. You can tell they take pride in the food they serve and everyone is friendly as well. Try the Kirby cake for dessert! It’s like a Hostess Ho-Ho but WAY more tasty! They usually have 3 different types of Kirby cakes the red velvet and the original are my faves!

There’s a lot I can say about the Del Rey Deli– their expertly crafted sandwiches, their delicious slow drip coffee, and their welcoming staff and atmosphere… But nothing can do this place the justice it deserves. At this point I’ve tried everything on the menu(a couple times over) and I am NEVER disappointed. But if you ask me, what truly makes this place shine is the daily specials. You never know what each day will bring, but you can bet when Chef Vince gets creative with blends of textures and flavors, you won’t be disappointed! Outside of their phenomenal(and I’m not using that word lightly) lunch specials and sandwiches, they also do a stellar brunch on the weekends as well as a monthly supper club. I’ve only had the pleasure of attending the monthly supper club once so far, but at $ 90 a ticket, you get an expertly crafted 5 course meal in an intimate setting amongst fellow food lovers and honestly, it’s quite a deal. And about that brunch? What can I say other than if it’s the weekend you can guarantee that you’ll see me there at least once! Sandwich game on point, awesome brunches on the weekend, staff/owners/chefs that make you feel welcome and a part of their family, and a special once a month dinner prepared by an individual who knows how to play with flavors in way few do– what more is there to say? Perhaps that it’s easily hands down my favorite go-to place since I moved out to sunny SoCal? Maybe that I recommend it to everyone I meet and they all call me the instant they’ve tried it filled with gracious ‘thank yous’ for the recommendation? You know what? No, the last thing I want add is stop reading this. Seriously, stop. Go do your taste buds a favor and just try it already– you’ll be glad you did!

No other choice really, this freaking«the don» was an awesome sandwich and I didn’t ever order it. So I read the other Unilocalers and I’m always looking for a great Sammie so in I walk. Nice spot, go street parking because the lot is small. Save the agro and just go street… Your welcome. I had the turkey, provolone on a ciabatta. Toasted cuz that’s how I roll(bread joke) it was very very good. Good meat to bread ratio and nice slathering of your mayo product. Delish. But on to the star of the day, the«don»! My wife loves an Italian(sandwich, that is) and she went nuts over this bad boy. All kinds of meat and cheese with a sauce that is so killer. She also went to the panini with it so it had a nice crunch to it. Crucial point. Toast the sammie!!! So, my recco is just go and sample because the boys here know what they’re doing. A 5 star lunch.
