Wow! Have you heard of kolaches? I never had until this wonderful donut shop popped up on Unilocal.A kolache is a form of Eastern European pastry brought by immigrants to the Texas area. The kolache as served here is sausage with cheese and jalapeño, wrapped in a delicious dough. Fantastic! The coffee was better than a lot of the java you’ll find at hoity-toity places in the LA area. And the cinnamon twist was absolutely delicious too! The exterior looks a bit old-school but the interior is spic-and-span and sports an «A» health rating. Everything was fresh as can be. Parking in the teeny-tiny lot but also free on San Pedro. Cash only but you won’t need too much… prices are very reasonable. If I lived in the area, it really would be my Daily Donut.

Kolaches in Los Angeles?! There are kolaches on the menu, and that is the only reason I stopped in. I lived in Texas for a stint and would regularly have kolaches for breakfast with my coffee. These fancy pigs-in-a-blanket are the perfect breakfast treat. The dough is something of a mix between a hot dog bun and a biscuit, and it is stuffed with a juicy sausage, filled with cheese(and, in this case, jalapenos). O. M. G. Daily Donuts asks $ 1 for each. $ 1?! I was fully expecting to pay $ 2.50 for a single kolache, so kudos for nearly giving these away! What else about this spot? It is a total local hub. Parking lot is shady as all get out. I imagine any surveillance camera trained on the parking lot after midnight must get an interesting stream of entertainment. That aside, Daily Donuts looks like it has been in business since PVC dresses, flared bell bottoms and tailfins with double tail lights were in fashion. And it keeps a stream of customers, seemingly from the nearby neighborhood. I imagine a neighborhood couple in their 70s walking up to the cash only window to order their weekly treat: a glazed donut and a cinnamon swirl. In addition to ah-mazing kolaches and a huge assortment of plain, glazed and jelly filled donuts, they also sell coffee and cigarettes(in typical L.A. fashion). Protip: The place is cash only, but there is a generic ATM right out front.

KOLACHE! If your from Texas, you will love this donut shop! Only donut shop in town that makes KOLACHE… and its bomb! Not quite like Texas, but close enough. Coffee is the best here. Neither strong or watery just right. Hand made ham and Cheese Croissant is to die for! And they make Turkey and Cheese Croissants for those who are watching their waistline. Donut is pretty good too. Not pretty from the outside but good place to visit. Need to check it out, its cheap too!

I was driving and I found this donut shop on my way to the freeway. Like any others, I judged the shop because it was small and it had no seating area, but I wanted a quick bite and so I parked and got out of the car to order(PARKINGLOTISSMALL). Anyways, I got a hot french vanilla and a chocolate glaze. I must say that it was absolutely amazing! The workers are very kind and they love to make conversation. They love to talk and some time make jokes. They made my experience worthwhile and I will be absolutely honor to come here again. I also notice that this shop makes Kolache(Coo-Loch-hee). It reminded me of pigs in a blanket(sausage wrapped with dough), and is one of my absolute favorite as well. This shop make the Kolache with only cheese or with jalapeño(w/cheese) either one is fantastic.
