This place is Closed I think. I was looking for the truck and could not find the truck.

first time trying the Crispy Truck at Granada Hills Food Truck Row on friday night i ordered the Chocolate Walking Waffle, but they said they were out of the chocolate bars that normally get baked in the waffle, so instead they poured Ghirardelli over it after it was made the waffle is a good size, not too big and not too small, good for single person who had a light meal or a couple to share the waffle, $ 5, is warm, real fluffy and not doughy but tasted fresh and delicious it wasnt heavy or greasy/buttery but light and airy for now i have to give them 5 stars for the delicious dessert waffle, but will update next time for a savory waffle!

Tried this food truck last night at Bergamont station and it was good. I ordered a medium fries and my boyfriend had the ham and swiss. I was really pleased with the ham and swiss waffle sandwich. I’m not that into the waffle craze that has taken over, especially after I tried Bruxie in Orange County(pathetic) but this truck was awesome. The waffles were the perfect mix of salty and sweet and so fresh.

I found this truck last Sunday at the Watermelon Festival in Sunland. I wasn’t starving but I needed something to hold me for awhile, I ordered the medium sized Frites. My order was ready in about 10 minutes, the frites are served in a paper cone making them easy to carry around if your going to eat them while walking around. The frites themselves are cut thick with the skin still on and you can choose from several dipping sauces. The dipping sauce container looked small but for me it lasted to the last frite mainly because I found myself using much less then I do with an order of regular fries, I didn’t want to overwhelm the taste of the potato /frite. The frites stayed warm till I finished, probably because they were cooked when I ordered them and the thickness holds the heat better than a thin fry. I enjoyed the frites and would order them again. If I run into this truck again and I’m hungrier than I was on this day I would like to try one of their waffles.

I have been to Belgium twice, once spending four days in Brussels mostly walking around eating the so-called frites and gaufres(fries and waffles, pronounced«freetz» and«go-fruhz», drop the«z» if there’s no vowel afterwards). I have been to this truck once, and I have to disagree with H and N. ******** First, the good: «The Classic Liège» Waffle 4⁄5 stars In Belgium, there are two main varieties of waffle(and a third, less-popular variety which isn’t relevant). These waffles are each delicious, unique from each other, and far better than what we call«Belgium/Belgian» waffles here. The styles are named after cities; «Bruxelles»(Brussels) and«Liège». There are two key differences between these waffles: 1. Liège-style waffles are covered all over the outside with a crunchy, carmelized-sugar shell which also permeates the dough itself, because it comes from pearl sugar which melts and carmelizes during the cooking process; Bruxelles-style waffles are sweet and crisp but without this signature coating. 2. Liège-style waffles have very deep, large square pockets with very thin, steep sides(the sides are thin to allow the pearl sugar to come into direct contact with the iron) and are roughly oval; Bruxelles-style waffles have smaller(but still big) and shallower(but still deep) pockets with thick, angled sides and are overall rectangular. The«Liège» waffles at this truck are neither Bruxelles– or Liège– style waffles but straddle the line between them. To properly melt the pearl sugar requires an approximately 40-pound iron made just for the purpose and these are only made in Europe. Crispy Truck clearly uses a regular American Belgian-waffle iron but does not fill it to try and give it the Liège shape; they come away with a hybrid shape that most closely resembles Bruxelles-style. The dough tastes more Liège than Bruxelles, but it does not get the heat required to properly melt and caramelize the sugar. Still, the overall yeasty flavor, dough consistency, shape, and serving style(plain with confectioner’s sugar on top as the standard) most closely matches true Belgian waffles out of any I’ve had stateside. Given the specific, exacting, and logistically difficult requirements of truly making Liège-style waffles(especially in a truck, I don’t think you could fit the real iron) and the fact that it is in itself a delicious treat(if not perfectly authentic), 4⁄5 stars. ******** Second, the bad: «Frites» 1⁄5 stars(sauce 4⁄5 stars) Belgian frites are served from street carts and food stands in paper cones with your choice of sauce: mayonnaise, sauce tartare(tartar sauce), sauce andalouse(my personal favorite, kind of like mayo + ketchup but thicker), sauce samouraï(like a spicy version of sauce andalouse). The frites are double fried: first at a lower temperature for a longer time span to cook the potatoes fully, then at a high temperature for a quick«finish» to crisp the outsides. The resulting frite is much crisper than a typical«crisp» or «french fry,» but without being burned — it’s still the same golden color as a french fry because the initial cooking is at a lower temperature. The cut thickness varies from what we would consider wedge-cut down to near-juilenned depending on the vendor. The Crispy Truck«frites» I had ditched the traditional, authentic sauces(except mayo) in favor of a selection of aiolis which probably offer more familiar flavors to the American palate: Blue cheese, garlic, lemon dill, rosemary mushroom, chipotle pepper, and others. I actually thought this was fine, although disappointed at missing out on sauce andalouse, I enjoyed the lemon dill: good texture, fresh, and nice flavor balance. The problem I had was with the actual frites themselves. Unfortunately, they did not live up to my memory at all. While apparently twice-fried, they had left the skin on(something I hadn’t encountered in Belgium, though apparently a New York adaptation?) which reduced the crispness. They had also overcooked them to a deep brown, imparting a burned flavor; despite this, the frites themselves were quite soggy(I suspect that unlike in Brussels, where they are cooked-to-order, these had been sitting under a heat lamp). They had clearly been sitting in their own steam long enough to lose the characteristic frite texture. I know times are tough, but when I pay $ 5 for a fried potato, I would expect it to be a freshly fried potato. ******** Overall, I can recommend this truck on the strength of the waffles. Close enough to authentic for the States; don’t put maple syrup and fried chicken on them, though, try nutella, strawberries, and whipped cream instead. Avoid the frites unless you can see someone else eating them and they are a true golden yellow color.

So wrote the first part while I was waiting forever for my waffle. «Takes too long. I am writing this while I wait 15+min for my waffle. It better be good. I already had the chicken and waffle. It was pretty good. 4 stars on food. One less for wait.» but since then I went again. Didnt take nearly as long and the waffle was much better. Crispier on the outside, more sugar pieces inside, and just better overall. So net net they would have gotten three stars before, now I give them four stars. Not docking them a star for inconsistency but they should take heed :) All in all, next time I see them I’m getting another waffle. One with nutella and fresh strawberries!

Waffles are AMAZING! Best waffles I’ve ever had. I look forward to it every week. My only complaint is that they ran out of butter. If you are serving waffles, butter is essential? Their«fried chicken”(chicken strips) are also awesome. Yes, they are heavily breaded(as this is a «crispy«truck), but the crust on chicken is my favorite part. I loved it! 4 stars because they burnt the bacon on my $ 7.00 waffle with bacon and brie.

This review is for the fries only! I was expecting crispy Belgium style fries so I was very disapointed with what I received. The fries were too thick, greasy and not that good. They cost $ 6 for a large which seemed like a ripoff. They were soggy with grease and not that crisp. They also handed them too me right when I ordered so I think they had been standing around and were not as fresh as they could have been. I did like the garlic aioli sauce to dip them in. Without the sauce it would have been impossible to eat them.

So guess who added fried chicken to their menu? Finally, and these things are delicious. The fried chicken does its job. It doesn’t redefine fried chicken, but it’s a flavorful & spicy chicken tender, and a few come draped on top of the waffle. And that’s where it shines. It’s the combination of the chicken with their unique Liege waffle that works so well. The crispy sweet/slightly chewy texture of the waffle combined with the savory spicy chicken elevates em both. I’m glad they feature this meal now, definitely the best chicken waffle combo on wheels.

The Frites were pretty solid, although $ 6 for a large makes them a poor value. Island has a huge basket for $ 3 this is a medium cone for twice as much. Plus island doesn’t make you stand up on the sidewalk to eat them all the food truck. The service was freindly and fast. I wouldn’t go out of my way or pull over to get theses again, but if the truck was parked acroos the street from my house solid maybe. Waffles looked equally good, small and expensive.

2 stars for the frites! I was pretty excited, yet a little skeptical, when I saw this truck parked on Westwood Blvd. Ever since going to New York and trying Pomme Frites, I’ve been looking for a Los Angeles substitute for the crispy, flavorful, and mouthwatering belgian frites I had on the East Coast. Wurstkuche in downtown LA was probably the best I’ve had in the city but there generally aren’t that many places that sell these kind of frites. The frites from the Crispy truck are $ 5 for a medium size and $ 6 for a large size, each with one free dipping sauce. Each additional sauce costs $ 1($$$$). I got a medium order with the garlic sauce. The frites were flavorful but very oily, undercooked, and NOT crispy. It wasn’t that bad but I felt like I was just eating oily potato slices half of the time. The garlic dipping sauce, however, was delicious! I’d gladly get them and dip them in any other frites. I talked to the owner and she was super nice! I almost feel bad for giving them two stars but meh, I’ve experienced better. It wasn’t so bad but it wasn’t so good. I’d probably try it again or try a waffle if they come to Westwood again.

I tried this truck on multiple occasions… pretty good liege waffles… not quite as good as the real deal, but good enough for the states. They need to be a bit more chewy and not as soft… and I could swear I tasted maple which shouldn’t be there for an authentic taste… also the first time I had it, the waffle had some unmelted sugar inside… dunno if they use real pearl sugar or just crushed sugar cubes, but that piece of raw sugar should not be there. Their fries are really good too… I wish they weren’t so stingy about their dipping sauces. $ 1 for a tiny cup of mayo? Come on! Give at least 2 free sauces for the large fries!

Thoroughly underwhelmed. Maybe because they were in a hurry to close up, but my food was anything but crisp. The frites sucked! I knew Belgian Frites, Belgian Frites were a friend of mine. «Crispy Frite» you are no Belgian Frite! Alarm bells should’ve gone off when my food was hand delivered to me mere moments after ordering. Silly me to expect freshly fried potatoes. The oven heated monstrosities were barely cooked through. The aioli was ok so +1 star. The liege waffle was a little better, but again nowhere near«crispy». Topped with Nutella, it was edible, so +1 star. Price points a little high, but to be expected from a truck.

4.5 stars for the BEST waffle I have tasted in my life!!! The outside is crispy and the syrup is perfectly caramelized and inside it is soft. It is filling because it is pretty thick but I did still think it was a tad overpriced.(sorry, I expect food trucks to be cheaper!) Fries were thick-cut and delicious too with the various aioli dipping sauces but it’s really the waffle that will blow your mind. I have officially been converted into a waffle lover.

Had the frites and waffles at a Gourmet Food Truck event. The frites were amazing especially with the dipping sauces. Get the large sized fries because you get so many more fries and once you start eating, you cannot really stop. I had the blue cheese aioli because I love blue cheese. I tasted some of the other sauces and they were equally as good. Try something different on the fries. I also had the Speculoos waffle and it was addicting. Definitely something different if you have never had it… truly like the new Nutella. Will try the truck again next time I see it.

Food/Cost:(4⁄5) Fries and Waffles — all good in theory and all YUM here. This Belgium inspired mobile eatery makes their waffles both sweet($ 4.50-$ 6) and savory($ 7) and also serves up Frites w/about 7 sauces so you can satisfy any craving. We opted for the Classic Liege Waffle($ 4.50) and Large Fries w/One Sauce($ 6.00). They’ve also got this really great deal — the Sweet Combination — where you can get a Sweet Waffle w/2 toppings + Medium Fries + Drink for $ 10. Or you can get the same combo with a Savory Waffle for $ 11. I loved the waffle. I think it was even better than the one I had in Belgium(granted I was in a touristy area). It had a good crunch on the outside and was slightly fluffy inside, striking a perfect textural balance between soft, dense, and crispy. I liked it plain and simple as it’s pretty sweet as is. The fries were good too — they were very thickly cut, had a distinct potato taste, and nicely seasoned. However, I like my fries crispy on the outside, and these were not. They were more like home fries in the shape of belgium fries. They were good, but just not what I look for in fries. I enjoyed all three sauces we had($ 1/ea) — the Rosemary Mushroom, Roasted Garlic, and Chipotle Pepper Aioli. Ambiance:(4⁄5) Their name isn’t creative, but I do like what they’ve done with the truck. The city landscape goes well is reminiscent of downtown LA and the cheerful yellow of the bottom, which is patterned like the squares on waffles, is nice. Service:(5⁄5) The girl who took our order was nice enough, but that’s not why I give them full marks here. We realized that they forgot our order when the ladies who ordered after us received their food. Why is this good? Because after we told them, they apologized profusely, comped our entire order, and gave us a variety of extra dipping sauces for our fries! That’s spectacular customer service for you :) For us it took longer, but usually people got their orders pretty quickly. Location:(5⁄5) Food that comes to you; for example, to the the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend. Full marks. Overall:(4⁄5) Good, freshly made stuff! Give this truck a try and dare to not like it.

My eyes alighted on this truck at the Renegade Craft Fair because I adore liege waffles and SPECULOOS. Oh, Speculoos. Like my friend said: «It’s a spread made out of cookies! Of course I’m going to like it!»(basically like sweet graham crackers.) The fries and the garlic aioli are perfection. Thick cut, greasy, salty, so garlicky you want to burrow yourself inside. But the waffle, while the correct texture(Syrup Desserts still makes my favorite), I guess had been sitting on the grill for awhile because it had that strange alcoholic taste that comes from sugar that’s been caramelizing for hours. Hoping this is a rookie mistake but it’s a pretty big one. so 3 stars, +1 for dealing me an entire jar of speculoos of my very own for $ 6.

We had the«speculoos and cream» waffle and also the«Triple B» Bacon, Brie, Basil on a waffle. First, the speculoos and cream… At first glance the waffle looked very tasty and was topped with a generous layer of whipped cream. I was actually very surprised by the amazing flavor of the speculoos cookie spread which was hidden below that whipped cream… wow!!! This was an awesome waffle and although sweet, it was very easy to finish the entire waffle without it being overly sweet. Mmmm, very very tasty! The Triple B was also very good but definitely the complete opposite of the first waffle. The warm waffle caused the Brie to come to a great soft/slightly melted state, along with the hot bacon layered on top and then it was finished off with freshly chopped basil. I thought the Triple B was a very creative waffle but for me personally I would have liked maybe even more of a sweet element there… maybe some honey?:) Overall I was very very happy to have tried these waffles!

I was walking back to my apartment when I saw this truck. They were passing out free samples so I had to stop and try them out! Never say no to samples! Originally, I was only going to only order their fries but I saw the waffle menu and my sweet tooth kicked in. I ended up ordering their fries with their mushroom aioli sauce and one of their waffles. The thick fries were fried perfectly, and gosh, I want to dip everything into that mushroom sauce because it was so yummy! I forgot the name of the waffle I ordered but it was pretty good as well. The waffle itself was nicely made and had a nice crunchy exterior. It was covered with nutella, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. Mmmm sugar! If you have a sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend this waffle. I would definitely come back for more of that mushroom aioli sauce! 4 stars!
