Add one more for ‘LA Views’… A nice, little theater downtown on the third floor of a historic hotel. Friendly staff, homey atmosphere, even a mini-bar. The ‘foyer area’ is located above what seemed(on the night I went, anyway) a ballet studio. It’s a small theater so there’s really not a bad seat. Unfortunately, their sound system was stolen, so they had to make do without whatever soundbytes/audio props they usually use. I enjoyed the play very much and despite any missing soundfiles, the heart of it was the storytelling and acting.

Just saw L. A VIEWS V: APRIL29, 1992. It was my first experience at a CoA production. I cried remembering the riots. The acting and depth of characters was awesome. Also, the historic Alexandria Hotel was cool. I love downtown landmarks and the photos of the movie stars from the Golden Age of film. I will definitely look out for the next play.

We just saw the company of angels production called, «LA views 3: hunger in the city.» the show was comprised of 810-minute short plays about various social topics affecting the lives of angelinos(prop 8, homelessness, etc.). the company performs in the«black box,» a small theatre on the third floor of the alexandria hotel on 5th and spring. the space is wonderful, and being inside the alexandria is a treat unto itself. for the most part, the acting was good. we booked tickets online for $ 20 /person, and it was totally worth it. way better than going to a movie and paying nearly as much. they seem to do a lot of shows, and i’m looking forward to their production in july about the LA thai slavery case. it’s really nice to have them in the neighborhood. yay for downtown.
