So happy I discovered this place today and the fact that I live 5 min away from it! I’ve always had mad love for«Lomo Saltado» but never found a good Peruvian restaurant around my area until I found Cocos. Not only do they serve Peruvian food, but they also serve Salvadoran, Guatemalan, Mexican, and Mediterranean food! I got the Lomo Saltado plate to go and let me tell you, they really packed it with steak and fries! They packed a good amount of rice which I was extremely stoked about! Everything was well cooked and juicy. The steak was well marinated and tender af! The fries were cooked to perfection. The juices from the tomatoes and onions made the whole plate even juicier. No complaints about this plate what so ever. It also came with a side of pupusas and buttered bread which were both amazing! Try their version of «Horchata». Instead of that cinnamon rice flavor you normally taste, this one has a Hazelnut Nutella kind of taste which I really find interesting. The texture is milky and creamy. I guess it taste like a light Butterfinger drink. I would definitely get it again! In conclusion, if you’re looking for a good home cooked meal, this is the place closest to home.

Came in, with no real expectations, but I was satisfied with the food. I got the pollo chipotle: the creamy chipotle sauce was very good, and so was the salad. The chicken itself was mediocre, and the rice it came with tasted like minute rice. Overall it wasn’t bad. What I did like is that everything seems fresh. In the sense that everything seems to be made to order, and the staff is very friendly and readily available to answer any questions.

Their items are over priced $ 3 for a side of two plantains. They charge $ 1 to use a credit card. And to make matters worse the food is not even that great. The place is seedy, I wouldn’t bring my relatives here. I feel like the ac in the building doesn’t work. So I am concerned how they are cooking the food with sweaty chefs working in the back. I would never come here again. Oh and there is no wifi… That’s a blatant LIE

This will be the first review I’ve ever posted. People need to know about this place… A wide variety of unique dishes that are all Cooked to perfection. It looks like some average place on the outside, I only first wandered in bc I was doing laundry next door. Now it’s a restaurant I crave weekly. I try different menu items, the breakfasts are my favorite. Do not sleep on this place and it’s ethnic foods!!! It’s real home cooking.

I was craving pupusas and I wanted something within walking distance so I came by this place that I had driven past a number of times and wondered about but had never tried. The restaurant itself has an odd setup, when you order, behind the cashier is where they keep most of their restaurant supplies and their kitchen is tucked away kind of out of sight. It wasn’t the best sign to me that this was the setup. I’m sure that original construction may have dictate this is the way they have to run their restaurant, but part of the joy for me of going to small place like this is being able to watch the cooks work the flattop grill. The fact that it’s kept out of sight made me a little uneasy. Instead of staring down my food being prepared, instead I was given the sight of boxes of paper towels and napkins. The pupusas satisfied my urge but by no means were they the best I’ve had in LA. Other reviews seem to tout their agua jamaica, so I’d be willing to walk over again just to give that a shot. On the whole though, nothing to write home about.

We asked for tamales. They didn’t have any. We asked for flautas. They didn’t have any. We asked for sprite. They didn’t have any. Hahaha I had Jamaica. Yes! It was absolutely delicious. But it wasn’t clear what on the menu was actually available when we were there, so we ended up leaving after we paid for our drinks.

My agua jamaica comes out fast, and I can tell you that this is without a doubt the cinnamoniest, floweriest joy I’ve ever sucked through a straw. For food I order the churrasca tipica, since I have no idea what it is, and it sounds big, and I am hungry, and the drink is so good I’d better take advantage of the food. The platter, when it comes, is not as sprawling and intimidating as I’d pictured it. It’s cute; each food item is compact, perfect, and arranged artfully separated from its neighbors. This is a flourish I attribute sometimes to the Japanese and sometimes to five-year-olds who don’t like their food items touching. The plantains are an absolute crispy cloud of flavor, melting almost like a good macaron on the tongue, but with a satisfying oily bite. The chorizo, though it looks kind of like fruit cake, is a crunchy play on textures, almost like that Lao sausage with the crispy rice. There’s a triangle of white in the upper corner that looks like those pre-cut Brie wedges at the grocery deli, but is better: fresh, crumbly, moist, salty cheese. And the steak, that wild card, that meat I never, never order on purpose because it’s either bloody or bust, and even then I can only ever manage a few bites of it? Gone! Even though it’s medium-well, it’s also pounded thin like chicken-fried steak, and rubbed thoroughly with a savory dry spice blend. While it isn’t spicy in the fiery sense, I am provided with a bottle of homemade-looking sauce whose dominant flavor profile is pork fat. The grilled tomato quickly becomes the second tomato I’ve ever happily eaten in my life.(The other one was in Japan, at a soba house.)

Great food! Amazing quesadillas, great fluffy white rice, good hummus, crunchy yummy falafel! They have coke by the glass bottle too. Really cheap and high quality.

Don’t get it twisted – this is not the Coco’s Bakery Restaurant Chain. Tucked in a nondescript strip mall is this little diamond. The food will make you feel all warm and homey inside. Definitely come for some comfort food. Pupusas and fish dishes were good and the pureed black beans that comes with most orders has an AMAZING coffee note. Yup, it kinda blew my mind.

Stopped in for breakfast and had the huevos rancheros which were bangin’. Coming back for dinner to try their lomo saltado. This place is like food mashup: Mediterranean, Mexican, Peruvian, Salvadoran

If you’re looking for chicken noodle soup as a cold remedy or flu remedy, get the sopa de gallina here. Matzo ball is great as «jewish penicillin» — but I think that makes this soup«latino penicillin». Get some, everyone is sick in LA!

Popped in to grab some pupusas… they were good! Classic red sauce and cabbage came with. We tried bean/cheese, spinach/cheese, and zucchini/cheese. This is a rather charming unpretentious strip mall storefront S of Sunset on Alvarado. Stop by and give this family run business some love. They also serve a falafel/Mediterranean menu and other traditional Salvadoran and Mexican food. P. s. we did grab them to go, and did not get the salsa in a bag ala Stephanie M.

Decent pupusas but I resent having to buy a minimum of three. Also the to-go order was a mess — including salsa served in a plastic baggie. I prefer La Botana for gettin’ my pupusa on.
