My go-to place when my mom tells me it’s kbbq-at-home time. YES! The owners are super friendly and the meat is delicious! They always give me recommendations and throw in some extra meat«on the house»(well, I do spend a lotttt $$$) I always get the pork jowl, ggotsal, brisket and pork belly. Guys, those are the staple kbbq items! Get ‘em!!! If you know kbbq is all about, ask for the chadol(brisket) sauce! They have extra essentials in a little fridge on the left. I usually pay a little over $ 100 after four meat choices, rice paper, veggies(the green onion/leek), and big chadol sauce = food coma x4(four people). Pretty legit!

usually get my shabushabu/sukiyaki meat here, whenever i have guests over for it. great quality meat for the right price. friendliest owner/staff. i just wish i can remember to buy all my other meat from here… i sometimes go to the 3rd/western location, too but not sure if they’re the same owners.

this is my go-to place for korean cuts of meat. it’s great great quality, it’s fresh, and if you go frequently enough they hook you up(you get a frequent buyer’s card but on top of that they’ll throw in a couple things if they know you). coming here is awesome cuz you can ask whatever questions about preparation as well since they know what they’re talking about. if you don’t have a local butcher, go to lindy and grundy’s for organic/sustainable/high quality meats and come here for the korean cuts(can’t vouch for how organic they are but it’s better than supermarket quality for sure).

I routinely buy duck meat here. I honestly have not been anywhere else to buy duck, so I have no comparison, but I think they’re reasonably priced and their meat seems to be good quality.

If one more person asks me how to make Korean BBQ just because I am Korean I am ready to kick their… I mean point them to Choice Meat Market. No it’s not a meat market like the clubs in K-town, it’s a legit meat market that will have all sorts of cuts and meats used for Korean food(Of course since it’s just meat, you can use it for other food and not just Korean…). I must admit, I was intimidated by this place the first few times, because all you see is a lot of meat, meat cutters and blood behind the meat fridges in the front(wow I used the word meat 4 times in the last sentence). Basically you will see a lot of things you should at a butcher. I think it’s because my virginal eyes have only seen blood-less meat packaged nicely in styrofoam and saran wrap. Choice Meat gives you the option to get as much or as little as you need. They will custom the cuts the meat for you as well. The best part is that all their meat is the highest USDA grade(and yes 100% American Beef!). You will know this because the meat is stamped saying so as well. For those who ask me, «How do you make Korean BBQ?» I will point them to Choice Meats since they not only have a great selection of meat they also sell already marinated meats.
