Had the al pastor tacos here. I stopped by after I drove by and saw the al pastor cooking on the spindle! The al pastor was so delicious, with the slice of pineapple on top. Plus, they have a ginormous salsa bar!

4.5 review… Best taco al pastor I have had in a long time. The best thing about it was I found it by chance. I was headed south on Western to visit Chabelitas for a late snack. I was quite apprehensive making the drive to this place late at night. Pimps and hookers like to hit you up for a $ 1. Anyways, as I drove I saw the spit from the corner of my eye and I hit the brakes. It was my oasis. I saw a chubby, short Mexican guy manning the spit and with great ease chopping pieces of lovely al pastor meat and gently slicing a pieces of the pineapple. His wife who appeared to be short and chubby as well took my order. I ended eating 3 tacos and I filled them with all the possible toppings. They have a table full onions, cilantro, jalapenos, and 8 different salsas. Some were pickled, others raw, and grilled. This was by far the best condiment section ever. The taco al pastor was effing delicious. The touch of pineapple put it over the top. They have a couple of tables to sit down but compadre please wipe them down. This is my only complaint. I recommend this place. It’s a great value at $ 1.25 for a taco with unlimited toppings and it was delicious. I will be back to try out other items.

By far the best al pastor tacos I’ve had they’re juicy and with the pineapple added just makes it even better! I’ve been trying to go there but sadly I don’t think they are located anymore. Wish I could find out where they are located now.

Top al pastor in LA for me. The truck recently changed? I think the al pastor is a bit different now.

L.A.‘s finest!!! Great selection of different meats and dishes. Taste fantastic, and their homemade drinks are also fantastic! You buy the tacos and put on the toppings yourself, something that I found to be very nice. Their grilled jalapeños are one of my favorites! If you wanna try mexican food and especially tacos, you gotta visit this truck! The truck is located at the Melrose Car Wash on Melrose Ave and N Manhattan Pl.

Oh my gosh! In my endless search for the best tacos in LA, I happened upon this little gem of a taco truck. I couldn’t help but notice a little crowd standing around a table full of condiments with big smiles on their faces. Radishes, Limes, Cucumbers, Cilantro, Pico de Gallo, 4 kinds of amazing salsas, and some kind of super spicy onion mixture that blew me away. It would be irresponsible of my not to stop and see what was going on. I’m so glad I did! They have tables out if you want to stay and eat or you can load up on the condiments and take your food to go. Either way you’ll be happy!

This place is amazing. I live off Melrose, and i honestly can’t stop coming here for dinner. What could I possibly cook that will be cheaper and better than 4 tacos here? Answer: nothing. They have all kinds of whacky stuff here, ranging from basic tacos(excellent) to gringas(even better). Pastor is their best item. They have the spit on the weekends. The salsa bar is really what puts this place over the top. They line up tubs of salsa, pickled onions, peppers, cilantro, limes, and all kinds of other stuff. I almost cried one night when I came and they didn’t have this stuff out, but it is usually out. I may eat here 4 days a week for the rest of my life.

Pretty amazing tacos. It was cheap, seasoned well(not over seasoned), and you get plenty of toppings which they put out for you to choose from. Toppings range from grilled onions to chili peppers. A definite must try if you’re around the area.

After a concert at the Palladium, the bf and I were darned hungry. We were on our way to Pinks when we noticed Chiquis. Set up in a parking log, they had tables, chairs, and tents set up for patrons which is a nice change from standing on a street corner. First round: I tried the Asada y Cabeza while the bf tried Chorizo y Al Pastor. I enjoyed what I had, but bf gave a thumbs up to the pastor, but thumbs down to the chorizo. He has made the chorizo his gold standard for taco shops/trucks/etc. We polished them off pretty quickly and went for round 2. Taking the bf’s advice, I got a pastor. He got another pastor, then tried the asada and cabeza. He was right, that was tasty. They had a decent amount of meat and plenty of condiments to choose from. Always wanting to get a taste of everything, I loaded my tacos with onions, cilantro, and a little green salsa(tomatillo), red salsa and the creamy green salsa. The bf stuck with the tomatillo and red. If it weren’t close to midnight, and if we didn’t have a 90 minute drive ahead of us, we would have definitely gone for round 3.

wait… I’m really confused. Why is there only 1 review for this place? WHY This was probably the best & most authentic taco truck I’ve ever been to! It was so cheap. I ordered 3 tacos and it came to $ 3.75. They have all the toppings and sauces on the side so you have the option to put whatever you want on there. But, seriously… .everyone needs to go there… immediately, then review it… because this is just sad.

Real al pastor is carved straight off a spit. If you’ve ever been to Tacos Leo or Tacos Tamix you’ve seen it done right. Chiquis Tacos does it this way as well and just after they carve it off into your taco or burrito they also add a piece of pineapple to it! YUM. The juices of the pineapple give the meat a hint of sweetness as it cooks up on the spit. Oftentimes, you’ll find people preparing al pastor on a griddle, but that’s not the way its done! Tacos Tamix was one of the first trucks to come to LA and do it correctly and now we have three great trucks doing it the same way. This place is quite elaborate for being a little taco truck. They set up tents and tables along with a VERY extensive salsa bar out front with tons of various salsas, guac, sauteed onions, cilantro, radishes, cucumbers, cilantro, carrots/jalapenos and some very spicy sauteed chiles. I’ve tried the lengua, buche, and al pastor here. All very delicious. Tacos are about 1.25 each with is so good for what you are getting. Their service is top notch esp for just being a taco truck. They set up at the Melrose car wash everyday after 6:30pm to cater to the after bar crowds. So delicious! You must give it a try and its located in a much more convenient area than Tamix and Leos plus its open DAILY!
