Larger than an average Pupusa. I recommend the Queso con loroco, Revuelta and the Ayote(Squash) con Queso. $ 2.00 per pupusa $ 2.00 Horchata. Salsa is just right, with a kick. They are cooked to exact perfection. That is what makes this place very special. Unbelievable that after so many years of living in South LA, I didn’t know about this place. This is DEFINITELY a word of mouth type of place. Not your traditional setting. Let’s just say it feels like you’re family when you’re there(wink). Thanks to my bro, I found out about this place. Super yummy! A hidden gem!

I love pupusas and this was a stop during one of my spur of the moment, unplanned food tours. Chico Loco is hidden in the back patio of a house in a residential area in South Central LA. There an open neon sign outside, so you can’t miss it. You walk in through the gates on to the back patio. There was a monster Hummer parked in the carport during the time of my visit. In the back patio of the house, there’s a whole set up of tables and a section where they make the pupusas. I saw quite a few people take it to-go. They used to be out front and across the street at the family’s other house. They been serving up pupusas here for about 4 — 5 years and well known within the neighborhood. You walk in and place your order. I ordered my usual favorite, the loroco(fragrant, edible flowers) and the revuelta(mixed, a bit of everything). I was told that they champurrado, so I ordered that too. The pupusas are the largest I’ve seen, much different than I’ve had before. They puffier or pillowy(if that makes sense). I heard these are as great as what you’ll find in El Salvador. I recommend ordering the champurrado too if you’re a fan of hot chocolate. It’s probably the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in LA. The best I’ve had was in Spain. Since it is hidden, you can BYOB it here I’m sure. There’s a restroom you can use inside the house. Parking might be tough to find on the street. Highly recommended for a uniquely LA dining experience!!! A great date spot to impress… it sure would impress me.

So Authentic! Best pupusas I’ve had in a very very long time. Super fresh made to order. Good size portion. If you eat very little you can share 1. 3 tables to sit at. Very friendly & the curtido is the BEST!

They are the best pupusas in LA. This is not a restaurant. This is a legitimate mom location. The owner has her house drive way set up to cook and serve her customers. She has a couple tables and chairs to eat there. I usually get the pupusas revueltas, but all of them are good.

Legitttt pupusas! Chanita makes pupusas every Fri, Sat, Sun evenings rain or shine. Best way to order is by text or phone call to Saul at(323) 602‑7171. He can take both English and Spanish orders. Chanita only speaks Spanish and is super sweet. Pupusas usually take around 10−15min to be ready. 1. All pupusas are so good. My faves here are loroco and revuelta. The cheese is oozy and a little crispy on the outside just like it should be. 2. Curtido — super spicy! Very flavorful and pickled just right. But very spicy. Great if you can handle it. 3. Salsa — 2 kinds: spicy and not-spicy. Homemade also and tasty. I usually get not-spicy to go with the curtido. 4. Horchata — homemade and Salvadorean style(diff than Mexican!) and tasty

Where should i start. This lady took me back to my childhood. One of the best pupusas i have had since the longest. And the horchata true salvadorian style. From now on i will be a regular customer. The lady is very nice and friendly. She’s open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5pm and on.

This gal is makin’ pupusas out in her front yard so there’s a wonderful informality to it. This also means that you’re basically having dinner at her house. The pupusas were generously sized and were delicious. The curtido was intoxicatingly spicy and the horchata was clearly homemade. A nearly perfect late night, Salvadoran meal !
