Chastellis Food Truck – 100% Animal Free!

I just ate a great burger.
There are many ways to get your veggie burger on in this town, and I’ve had them all. I’ve gotten to a point where I prefer the patties that aren’t trying to be something they’re not (meat), but their veggieness emphasizes their healthiness and sometimes I just want a freakin’ burger. Chastellis does just that. The patty on its own isn’t my favorite (akin to Veggie Grill’s veggie steak), but the symphony of flavors and textures took me back, took me way back to when drive-​thrus were a frequent dinner option. And the fact that it’s out of a bag, wrapped in foil, well… it was an American experience. This is the kind of food you eat standing up, on a street corner.
They have delicious treats from Das Baker, who you might know from Doomie’s fame. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and was smitten. The guys working the truck, Jason and Anthony, were really awesome and seem excited to get out there to bring vegan food to the masses. If you like Doomie’s, I think you’ll love Chastellis.
