This guy was actually totally normal — not like a super-I-can’t-relate-to-you IT nerd. He was really cool, relatable and very patient and nice about my lack of computer skills. I wanted to learn how to design my own website using iWeb on my MacBook. This is actually a service he provides — he does all kinds of software training. More than designing my website, he taught me how to design and maintain my own. He said he actually was a Mac Trainer for Apple for a few years before he was solo which was even better to know. Anyway, when I first contacted him, we had a short consultation over the phone — he asked me what I wanted to learn and why, and what software I was interested in. When I got to the lesson, he was professional and prepared. First, we talked about my ultimate goals and then turned them into weekly goals and developed what was like my own personal Mac i Web course. That was an awesome idea and really was a good way to learn. Surprisingly affordable — he charges hourly. In between classes he would email a summary of what we covered in that class and even give me a little homework to prepare for the next class. The classes were helpful and I actually had a lot of fun, too. It just felt really productive being there and I learned how to navigate iWeb efficiently. I’ll definitely be taking lessons in other software programs from him.
