My boyfriend and I love Cal Video, we can spend up to 30 minutes inside just looking at all the movies and running into old friends. If you want to rent a movie and hate redbox, Cal Video is your spot. Lauren and Dane (the owners) couldn’t be more friendly. They know so much about movies and always have great recommendations. This is a perfect shop for our small town. Go in and check out our local movie rental spot, you won’t regret it.

This place is awesome. And the cool guy & chick working there know there movies! I rather give them bussiness than anywhere else! Fuck redbox! They have a lot of choices to choose from and they are more than happy to answer question and know what they are talking about!

These guys are the best. No vhs tapes, but it is 2015. They will let you pay your late fees over time. Give them your money, they deserve it.

Best of the «Mom and Pop» shops. I agree with the other 5 star ratings. Cal Video is a San Pedro tradition. Check it out.

I’d much rather give Cal Video my cash over a BOX that has such a vague selection of movies as well as no kind a refund or credit for DVDs that skips… I’m a happy consumer and glad my city still has room for a real video rental store.

Pretty cool spot to rent movies plus its right next to my house. I just came back from here & ill be coming back. Great movie selection, reasonable prices & the young lady was quick to help me find a title to a movie just from me describing it. Parking can be tight some times but it shouldn’t be a problem.

$ 10 membership fee (2 free rentals w/​new membership). $ 3.50 a movie for a couple nights. Good selection of new flicks. Lots of tv/​cable show box sets (you get to keep these a bit longer). They have a credit card machine but the lady said they aren’t using it for the time being so CASH ONLY. Although a card is still required for a new membership. There’s a ton of options these days when it comes to movie rentals so props to Cal Video for staying afloat! They do however seem to keep irregular hours of operation.

Barbar shop atmoshere. Cool décor and a family feel. I love getting the new releases ahead of all those other BIG CORP owned places. Classics to new released count on it being available! Love it!

This is the place to rent videos in San Pedro. David, Lauren and Dane Rock! Actually right on, moreover, for David… he doubles as a leader of a popular local rock band. I find the trio very knowledgeable about movies. When I forget a title, I just rattle on a little about the plot and David or Lauren will jump in with the title. You can’t that from rental vending machines or on line.
Cal Video has a complete collection of all categories of DVD’s. I like Cal Video’s policy: every 10^th video is free. David is really good about calling if something is not available and becomes available, and he gives an ETA on when the movie will be back.
Cal Video opens in the afternoon, which given they have a handy night drop, works for me. Cal Video’s prices are the best in town.
I think the best thing Cal Video rocks in is being incredibly cool, nice, friendly, and real people. The whole team is cool. Today, it seems harder and harder to find people like David, Lauren, and Dane. I love chatting with David and Lauren about movies.
They always have a movie going, and their poster collection is cool. They are really nice to my son Ian. They have watched him grow and take a genuine interest in his development. I’d like to give Cal video 6 stars, but my hands are tied a 5. Rock on Cal Video.

Best place to rent videos in the South Bay. The owners are chill and extremely extensive in movie information. Ask them about a movie and they can tell you the plot, the genre, and whether or not you’ll like it according to some simple questions.
Can’t find a movie? Ask them what’s good for whatever you’re in the mood for and they can direct you.
Could there be anything better than the service? Yes, the prices! They charge less than all the video rentals around and you get to keep it for two days.
Note: Pay in cash. Their credit card machine has been wacko for the longest time and you’ll end up with a bill. Plus cash is easier and they deserve the money upfront.
Bonus: Bring your old movies in and they might just buy them off you if they don’t already have it!
