I don’t get what the hype is. Fact is the place is junky and the food is really overpriced. It’s in a dirty shack first of all. The staff are rude and distracted. The guy basically had the attitude of he didn’t give a f. For $ 17 I basically got two small chicken breasts, a scoop of rice, a scoop of black beans, a tiny side salad, and two plantains. The food itself was decent, but $ 17 for that? I can go to many places where the exact same meal will be $ 10 – 12 and the ingredients fresher. Also, coffee was $ 3 with no free refills in a tiny cup. Espresso is $ 3 per shot. Complete rip off and they’re not even in really fancy area to justify it. The executive lunch, which is more like $ 10, might be a good deal, and if I was ever to have lunch in the area, I’d go for that.

This food is a joke. The polenta portion come 3 pieces and is full of oil. Napolitano pastel is just full of tomato and air and what is the dough of this coxinha?! If you see this before come, just don’t do it.

The worst Brazilian restaurant I’ve been. Is a shame for the Brazilian cuisine. I didn’t see any Brazilian working and the attendance was terrible, they messed up our order and warmed up the empadinhas on microwave, what spoiled the dough. Also, the pastel was stuffed of air and couldn’t really taste the cheese and beef inside. The vinaigrette wasn’t fresh, looks like it was made with old onion, tomato and pepper. We order polenta as appetizer, but it came with only 3 pieces full of oil. This place is definitely not a good place to taste Brazilian culinary. I’m Brazilian and I know what I’m talking about.

The food is home style. I ordered the sausage plate it felt like something I could make at home for half the price. I enjoyed the black bean soup but it was a bit redundant considering I already had black beans on my plate. I didn’t find anything to particularly outstanding or special. Dining area is a covered patio with wicker chairs. Really simple set up. Not bad for a local spot but i don’t recommend coming out of your way to try it.

Small little restaurant. It’s like a hidden gem. Most of the seating is outdoors if you’re looking to eat there but they have a seating area with a very home like vibe. The food is delicious. The lunch special is a pretty good portion for $ 10.50 so that’s usually my go to.

I love coming here. I will always make the drive from the valley just to eat at this spot. Always leaving full and so happy. Everything is so good. I always stick to the chicken and i don’t know what they do to season the meat but it’s great by itself but throw that hot sauce on it and ahhhh! The beans the salad the salsa and the bananas. I just ate and I’m already missing it. Definitely a must try.

«Galera» — you can’t do much better in LA, unless your Brazilian friend decided to throw you a surprise party and gave you delicious foodstuffs from his/her home country instead of gifts. The juices are exquisite, the meats seasoned perfectly, and the flavor combinations make you rethink why you’ve ever bothered eating American food your entire life when this existed… the. whole…time. My brain’s doing a little samba just thinking about it. «Foi otimo» — a.k.a. — it was, and continues to be, great.

This place is so cute. I loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant and the food was delicious. What I could do without is the weird service and the guy screaming into the mic with order numbers. I think it really threw off our dining experience. When we were placing our orders, the same guy was kind of rude and not that helpful. The food made up for it however. I got the black bean soup which was amazing! Vegetarian, spicy and flavorful. I also got the Malibu vegetarian which was just OK, I wish it had more salsa in it to give it more flavor. My friend got the skirt steak platter which she really liked. I tried some of her plantains and they were delicious. The prices were kind of expensive(platters were 15 – 18 bucks) but you get a decent amount of good food. The seating areas are mostly on there covered indoor/outdoor patio. It’s very cute with wooden chairs with pillows on them and bright décor. They have parking behind the place too which is amazing given parking is hard in the area.

This was a cute place. It has a small intimate feel to it with indoor and mostly outdoor seating. The prices are reasonable and the food portions are fairly large. The employees are very nice and welcoming.

This place is a hidden neighborhood gem. Decided to pop in a couple weeks ago after walking by it many a time on my way back from Oldfields. Was not disappointed! You walk up to the counter to order and then grab a table(chairs are wooden but they have pillows on every single one) and the place is adorably decorated – very cozy and welcoming as is the staff. Now to the food: it’s phenomenal. My boyfriend got the sausage plate and I got the chicken breast. Both were tasty and juicy. Plates come with rice, black beans and plantains(my favorite) and are fantastic as well. Would definitely recommend this place to any and everyone. The menu is extensive and I can’t wait to go back and try more of it!

Might Café Brasil be the most perfect restaurant? My dad used to take me for lunch when I was a kid because he worked around there. He’d always get us a pitcher of House CK(fresh juiced passion fruit and sugar cane served over ice) and a plate of steak with sautéed onion, rice, beans and plantains. I hadn’t been since then, and I happened to be working close by and was hungry. Woohoo! The patio is the coziest of all time — each chair has its own seat and back cushion in mismatched toiles and checks; French café chairs mingle with ladder back chairs and foreign football games play on the small tv. The food is just fabulous. Homey, unpretentious dishes featuring all the best meats. The plantains are KILLER. If I were you I’d order an additional plate for dessert. The folks behind the counter are super nice — they called me sweetie. Café Brasil is an all around excellent spot for a great brunch, lunch or dinner. Don’t let 10 years go by before having it again like I did!

I was expecting better. I think if the kitchen took their time a bit longer and focused on quality they could have a better product. We both had the chicken Melanesia and we were underwhelmed. The chicken is very thin, a bit dry and not hot enough. The rice lacked heat as well. Bottom line is I was hoping to wowed and it fell short. The fried bananas were hot but way too sugary for my taste.

I tried Café Brasil for lunch a couple of days ago when I was working in Culver City. Café Brasil is a small little place on the corner of Venice and Westwood. It is primarily a to-go place with a handful of tables on the patio outside the restaurant. At the peak lunch hour all the tables directly outside the entrance of the restaurant were taken so I had to park on one of the tables on the side which was not fun during peak summer in LA. Anyway after perusing their menu I decided to get their Grilled Top Sirloin Steak Executive Lunch($ 9.50) that comes with white rice, black beans, plantains and salsa. After ordering I moved out as the inside was very cramped and stuffy. 10 minutes later my number was called and I had my food so no complaints with service. Taste wise the plate was not much to look at. In-fact it looked like it had been haphazardly put together by amateur chefs. Well it definitely was not made by amateurs. The grilled Top Sirloin steak was literally one of the best that I’d ever had. It had a super marinade and was grilled to a perfect medium. The rice was not top quality Jasmine rice but was cooked well so as not to be lumpy. The plantains were nice and sweet. The beans had this intense dark color which I’ve not seen in other places, yet their taste was not intense. The salsa was fresh and although it lacked a kick, it went very well with the rice. You could literally taste the quality in everything on the plate. The only thing that I did not like was the quantity. It certainly was a petite portion, so as to keep it under $ 10 for the lunch special. My only advise would be to pair that up with some appetizer like their empanadas($ 2.95) or risoli($ 2) which is a deep fried turnover stuffed with beef or man up for the regular Ranchiera plate($ 12.95), the cost of which would be more in line with what you would pay for a typical meal in Culver City. Overall I was very satisfied with what I ate and would surely like to come back and try some more stuff off their menu if I had the chance.

A small restaurant with a cozy ambiance and great Brazilian food! They have a private parking lot in the back, but it’s shared with other restaurants so it can get packed at times. My gf and I walked in for dinner and automatically it just felt like walking into a friendly neighbor’s house and patio. Very comforting! We ordered the skirt steak dish that had a side of rice, beans, and plantains. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tender. Taking a bite of this with some rice and beans really complimented the slightly sweet and delicious plantains. We also ordered the spicy black bean soup, which did have a bit of a kick to it. I liked to take a dollop of the soup and add it on to the rice and steak. Really brought it up an extra notch if you like a little spice. We also had an order of a pasteis with ground beef. This was a thin deep-fried crust with a thin layer of ground beef inside. It came with a great, refreshing salsa. This appetizer was pretty good! It’s light so you’re able to enjoy the rest of your entrée and not feel so stuffed. The mango juice was great, not too tart and not too sweet. Tasted very fresh. We shared all this and found to be still hungry. Next time we’ll probably plan on buying an entrée each. We also saw people bring their own wine here too to enjoy with their meal! Definitely will come back here!!!

I came here the other day with my husband because we were hungry and wanted something to munch on. I was immediately impressed with the ambiance and the décor. They really transformed the place(small and right next to a busy street) into a welcoming, calm, Brazilian oasis. We walked up to the counter to order our food. You order your food, sit down, and then wait to be called. I wanted to try a few different things, so I ordered all appetizers. I got the Empadinha with chicken, pao de queso, coxinha, and a cheese pasteis. For my beverage, I had their fresh-squeezed passion fruit juice. It was so refreshing to find a place that does different fresh-squeezed juices that you don’t see all the time(mango, passion fruit, sugar cane etc.) The passion fruit wasn’t what you would expect to find on a tropical island, but my guess is that it was the best fresh-squeezed passion fruit juice that you could at least get in California. My husband got the fresh-squeezed mango juice and that was also good. All of the appetizers were really good and unlike anything I have ever tasted. They were crispy, without being greasy, and had a great savory flavor. I wasn’t as much of a fan of the coxinha only because the consistency of the soft dough on the inside kind of threw me and I wasn’t used to it. However, I really loved everything else that I got! The staff was super friendly and the man at the counter remembered my husband which was cool. We will definitely be back again when in the area!

On the Brazilian Venice block in Culver City, this little gem was a find. Almost reminded me like the Philippines with a mom/pop atmosphere in a cozy backyard setting. Not a big place, probably has about 15 tables, all outside. Place was clean, service was quick. They brought our entrees to our table. For the food, I ordered off the grill menu. I got the California chicken entrée, which is served in a sort of sweet black sauce amidst grilled chicken, onions, tomatos and bell peppers, accompanied by white rice, salsa and two fried plantains. The chicken was quite thin but moist. Mixing the flavors of the salsa, black sauce and chicken was a unique savor I’ve never known but overall delightful. To boot, you get a cup of black beans and your choice of soup or salad. I got the salad, which was a nice variety of greens. Did not care for the dressing which was a house dressing, tasted too mustard-y. Damage was $ 15.99 Has its own parking lot in the back, always a plus in my book. Would love to come back and try more entrees. they also have a breakfast item, yes only one item which is a package of Brazilian coffee, toast, jelly, eggs, some meat and cheese. Sounds hearty for $ 9.

this place is amazing!!! I am so satisfied about the food, the restaurant, the service ~ everything! my bf and I tried both skirt steak and california chicken and they were both so amazingly delicious ~ and also the salsa on top of the rice is probably one of the most amazing salsas I have tried! the only problem is probably that this place is kinda pricey. but other than that, everything’s amazing and perfect! I would definitely come back here again regularly!
