Burning Buns

4 Stars, but I was a little disappointed due to Unilocal.I was expecting it to be amazing after reading the other reviews. It was good — I’d go back if they were in the area. It wouldn’t be in my top 5 burgers (or even top food truck burger), though. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would recommend them: The prices were good (it’d be more than $ 14 for a burger and fries at a local restaurant). The service was great and fast. The sauces make this place unique, so definitely try another sauce for your fries!

They say you eat with your eyes first. And burning bun does this to a tee. I usually get my burgers without a bun and most food trucks just slap everything on a plate and throw it at me. However, the guys at burning buns took the time and effort to make sure the presentation was up to par. I can tell you the smell and taste are no different. Its aromatic and it tastes amazing. Thank you kindly for your amazing service and even better food! I was very lucky to have experienced them here at my work in Santa Ana. I highly recommend them.

Just got done with the «southerner» burger.
This burger ROCKS! meat was perfectly cooked, melted cheese and onion rings.
the bacon was crispy and juicy.
The creamy Sriracha sauce had just enough kick… when mixed with the BBQ sauce it pushed my burger to a all new level.

Mmmmmmm, Cubano sammich! Why sammich? Cuz their Cubano is just that damn good! So good that I had to write this review right after having one. Their bread was toasted just right and addition of pickles and mustard added just the right amount of flavor profile to the sammich. Grilled onions were added per request which gave it a little sweetness and played well with the dish as a whole. Chef Mike was super nice and approachable and also informed us that they occasionally take requests for custom dishes with whatever ingredients they have on hand. Which leads me to the dish he made on the spot: a «grilled» veggie salad. It’s a cold salad but each bite had that essence of grilled veggies. Add in some croutons and a side of their house salad dressing and I was sold! A good compliment to that tasty tasty (and satisfyingly filling) Cubano sammich. Hats off to Chef Mike and Alex for awesome service, friendly vibes, and excellent food. Definitely look forward to when they stop by around our neck of the woods again.

This food truck came around the rotation for Irvine’s residential food truck nights and the walk to this truck was well worth it.
The husband and I split the Cubano. That Cubano was super good. The mustard and the pickles were just the right amount of goodness to make the Cubano awesome.
They cater to vegans and varying tastes and diets. It might not look like it but they do. Mike made us a grilled veggie salad on a bed of salad. They let us know that we could really customize our orders to the point you create another burger and they’re not pricks about it. Mind you, that full-​on customization may not work during lunch breaks, but will definitely work for these residential dinner events.
Yeah, it’s a little pricey, but you are paying for a half pounder gourmet burger, guys, so you get what you pay for. Or in our case, a really good Cubano that came to us!

The cubano with bacon was amazing! My friend had a burger and said it was awesome as well. 5 stars!

This food truck came to my work last night and the food was not only delicious but the employees had GREAT service. We had the southerner, the fancy pants, and the carne asada fries and oh man the southerner may be one of the best burgers ive ever had! Juicy, tender patty, BBQ sauce that had a nice kick to it, friend onion rings nice and crispy, perfectly grilled buns, HEAVEN! The asada fries had thick fries with really nicely seasoned asada with the cilantro dressing and melted cheese, SO YUMMY! And the employees! My boyfriend accidentally kicked my plate over as he was sitting down causing the burger to fall out of my hand. I went back to the window and asked If I could just have another top bun cuz the rest of the burger was still okay, but they insisted in making me a whole new burger. That shows the pride they take in their product and making sure the customer has the best tasting meal possible. I was so appreciative and it really was an incredibly delicious meal. I hope I run into BURNING BUNS again soon!

Wow, deliciously scrumptious food. We got the carni asada fries and the chipotle chicken wrap! We couldn’t stop eating our food until it was done. Great menu too, looking forward to trying the other items.
The crew also excelled in customer service.

The food is over priced and not that great. I ordered their Smurf Burger and asked for no ranch or sauce on it and when it came out it was smothered in ranch. Also ordered fries. You get a lot but they are ICE Cold! The name should be over priced cold food.

Im not one to go out of my way to find a food truck, but burning buns is one truck i will track down for an amazing Burger.

Pretty solid food. I had the Cubano and it was pretty tasty, good blend of flavor. I recommend extra pickles. By the end of the sandwich it felt pretty heavy, the meat had more fat and the cheese was sliced really thick (and could have been meltier), but overall pretty happy with it. Also very quick.

Stopped by this lovely food truck. They have a screen showing their yummy creations. Really gorgeous photos. This is very helpful & makes it easier to choose! Or harder in some cases since everything looks so delicious.
Between 3 of us we tried The Hulk, The Southerner, Creamy Sriracha, and Cheesy Fries. Have to mention all of the burgers were plentiful, juicy, and so very delicious.
The Hulk lived up to its name, BIG Time! It was so massive it couldn’t be finished.
The Southerner was simply marvelous! Really enjoyed the BBQ sauce and onion rings.
Creamy Sriracha was good but nothing to write home about. Presentation was very nice.
Cheesy Fries are so amazingly yummy! The grilled onions truly make it a must try! Seriously these are the best grilled onions I’ve ever had… AMAZING!
All in all we really enjoyed the food and service. Keep in mind it is a bit pricey, for 3 burgers & 1 fry it was $ 31. That said, I would definitely eat here again.

So happy that I finally got to Burning Buns! Their food is to die for! Bacon cheesy fries with Fancy Pants sauce is so mouth watering delicious and I am super picky on my Cuban sandwiches but theirs take the cake, hands down! Which is why when I saw them close to my sister’s job I just had to go «visit» her for lunch! Jessie and Mike are awesome and perfect for the amazing Burning Buns food truck! If you ever want good food Burning Buns is the place to eat! They make their food with care to ensure the perfect taste! THIS IS THE FOOD TRUCK YOU WERE LOOKING FOR!

It’s amazing I love their food. A bit pricey at a glance but it was worth it. The sandwich that I ate was delicious. The staff was friendly as well. Keep up the good work!

Best cheesy fries ever! That homemade Sriracha and chipotle sauce is to die for!!! I get my fries with extra of both. Also don’t claim you don’t like onions until you have them on these. Thank you burning buns for your awesome and super friendly service!

I have to admit, I have a burning desire for burning buns. At first I was a little skeptical because let’s face it, burgers are burgers. There are so many burger joints and food trucks with the same concept, so how much more different can this really taste?
I am SO glad I gave this truck a try. I am literally obsessed. I constantly am checking their Instagram for their next location because I just can’t get enough. I honestly have probably tried everything on their menu so I’m going to literally go through everything, but before doing so I would like to mention that their employees are the friendliest people I have ever spoken to at a food truck. Usually, people just take your orders and are on to the next customer but this truck didn’t treat me like a transaction, they seemed to really care about my order. They even suggested me to try different things without trying to up-​sale me to spend more.
I would also like to mention that everything they have made me did take a little time to prepare, but I have seen them start making my meal from scratch. I know that every time I come here, I am going to get fresh food. I would prefer a small wait for good tasting, quality food than a burger patty that was made an hour previous to me ordering that’ll probably end up giving me the shits. So the wait is well worth it.
The very first thing I tried was their «chipotle burger» & honestly when I’m craving a good burger, I’m always wanting to find their truck. The patties are HUGE, juicy, and full of so much flavor. They use brioche buns which I think are delicious, and different from the typical sesame seed buns that other places usually use. You can taste the freshness of the vegetables, & the chipotle sauce is seriously addicting. If they bottled it up and sold it, I would load up on that shit as if the apocalypse was about to occur. Now every time I go there, I always get extra chipotle sauce, even some extra to dip my fries into. I literally can not get enough.
Their French fries are so fresh, and they are perfectly crisp. I honestly am not a huge fan of cheese, but I will definitely make an exception for their cheesy fries!
If you aren’t in the mood for a burger and fries, they also have these chicken basil wraps, that are actually filling. Usually when I order a wrap from somewhere, I get this really dry, lettuce wrap with barely any chicken or other promised filling. When I ordered a wrap from this truck, I literally couldn’t even finish it. I had to share it with a friend because I wasn’t anticipating the that it would actually be stuffed with so much chicken. I was pleasantly surprised that the lettuce did not overpower the rest of the wrap. Everything inside of it was perfectly portioned. So this is definitely a healthier option for you dieters.
Another alternative to a burger is their quesadillas. If you aren’t starving but want something to hold you over, order this! But even then, you will probably need to share because it’s also HUGE. I think that’s my favorite thing about this truck. You get what you pay for. I hate when things are so over priced and you get the tiniest portion. At burning buns, you will literally never leave hungry!
Definitely go give this truck a try! You’ll thank me for this when you try it, so you’re welcome for the suggestion. (:
The only thing you will regret is becoming addicted. Because I literally would go there every week. I should probably go back, because just writing this review is triggering withdrawals.

Stopped by one day out of curiosity and convenience since they were parked nearby. Best move ive made it only saddens when they are to far for me to stop by and grab one of their killer angus burgers. Jesse created some really original and unique sauces that make every burger different so you never run out of options. On top of having the juiciest gnarliest burgers ive ever had (beating slaters, and in and out) they also have thick cut fries they season and load up with cheese, grilled onions and bacon topped with a killer sauce, just makes animal style seem like a kidsmeal.
Hands down best burgers! if you see this place bring your appetite because your gunna need it.
