Buddha is a destination meat market. Great for old school ingredients like smoked meats: smoked turkey tails, smoked turkey wings, smoked ham hocks. Oxtails. Turnip greens. You get the picture. And the butcher is happy to cut items in half when you want just the flavor and broth to accentuate your greens. They also have Cajon/Creole seasonings for gumbo, jambalaya and such. And, it’s a liquor store! Ha. People will say its in the hood like it’s some sort of warning. But anyone who’s cooking smoke turkey with turnip greens knows what’s up. The thing that might give you pause is it’s a liquor store. And you pay for your items through a plastic partition. Which leads me to think, some s&*t when down at one time or another. When I go, I’m there with my 6’4″ man, I go straight to the meat counter, pick up some seasonings and I’m out. 10 minutes tops. Well, I’ll go ahead and say it too, it’s a hood meat market. :-) And I mean that in a good way.

Buddha has been there for years and has changed hands and the new owners have done wonders with this place. They are still the only store in the immediate area that has a Butcher Meat Counter, which means you can choose your cuts of meats and buy as little or big as you want (that has always been a nice touch about Buddha Market). Buddha offers a little of everything from Liquor, Produce, fresh cuts of Meats, specialty Sausage and lottery tickets, they also have a private parking lot for their customers(Woo pee) Down side, sometimes the customer service is not that friendly and there is always people hanging around(however they seem to be harmless)

So long I have looked for a place for good Louisiana sausage! Finally!!! Decent selection of Louisiana products, including Savoie’s sausage and Camillia red beans!!! Now all they need is Abita beer and I will be good to go!

Handy. But charges $.75 for debit card transactions and no notice posted. So I will not be using debit card. Pretty much liquor store with meat counter. Some seasonings and produce available.

I don’t like to give bad reviews about I care about people’s business, especially single owners, but I went here a few times when my car broken down and I don’t reccomend. There seemed to be a lot of shady activity going on by non-customers in the parking lot. Be careful. Just go down the street to Ralph’s. Otherwise, be careful, you never know!

This little tiny local market has some of the best damn ground beef around! I don’t understand it? It’s gotten me spoiled to the point that I can’t even but it out if ralphs or any other chain market! Nice leanest beef always fresh! On the grill it’s like Angus! Now as far as everything else just run for the hills to ralphs! But if you want some good ground beef and a wide selection of malt liquor then buddahs is you destination lol

Great family market that’s been in the neighborhood for generations. Good butcher. Prices a little higher than mega supermarket, but the company, good vibes and easy parking make it well worth the extra pennies.
