Worst dining experience ever!!! Very slow service, (There were three waitresses when there were only six customers, including my party.) Servers do not attend to the customers. Food came out really late! It took us more than 20mins to get our rolls. The chef did not know how to make the roll we order. The server claimed that he put wrong ingredients in our rolls because he is new. However, I believe that is an excuse. If the chef is professional, he should’ve looked at the menu before he makes it. It says everything that comes in that roll on the menu!!! The price of the food is not cheap, more on the expensive side. However, the sashimi we ordered came out as frozen!!! I would just totally understand even if they use frozen fish and sell it expensive. But they should’ve not served the sashimi as frozen. We could not even eat it because it was hard and too cold! I just felt like I am trying to chew a small ice piece… I did not wanna keep complaining because it is how they do the business and try to make money! Our bill came out to be almost 80 dollars.(We ordered two sashimi and two rolls) And I even paid 18% tip, because I know the servers were not intended to be impolite or helpful. It seemed like they have never trained well as a server and they did not know about their job very well. Also I left a good tip despite this horrible experience because I asked them to just take back the roll the chef did not know how to make and cancelled. There was nothing normal. Everything was poor and horrible. I would never go back even if I am starving…

First time here. Had lunch today(Saturday) and it wasn’t terribly busy but my friend had been here before and recommended it. Had a bento box. Excellent proportions. Sushi was not the Americanized huge piece of rice and slab of fish but just the correct mouth filling in one or two bites. Very fresh. Lovely tempura, salad, chicken teriyaki that wasn’t swimming in sauce.

Wow I hadn’t realized how EXPENSIVE it would be, I came here actually a couple years back and the cheapest thing was $ 95/per person. WTF this place looks so fuckin shitty from the outside in the dirty strip plaza at Wilshire and Wilton. The inside was also not much better, they’ve got private rooms and you sit around tatami mats which is normal but everything looked worn out and it needed to be replaced 10 years ago. If it were just me and I realized lunch would be $ 95 per person I would’ve walked out in a heartbeat but I was with guests so I couldn’t. This is probably the worst surprise I’ve ever gotten in any Los Angeles restaurant. That kind of sticker shock I was not expecting in some crappy looking restaurant with mediocre food and mediocre service in dense ass Ktown. How can you fuckin be next to El Pollo Loco and Subway and Pizza hut and charge $ 95/per person? Totally ridiculous. They seriously need a reality check. There were many courses and I’m not really a fan of sashimi but seriously, nothing stood out. I do remember we had«maeuntang» which is literally spicy soup, and they had lobster in there a REALLIVE lobster that was unfortunately mutilated up top and amputated at halfway point. The poor thing was still alive and being boiled alive right in front of our eyes and fought like HELL to get out. He may have been fresh but I couldn’t eat after him struggle so hard for his life. The service is a gleeful smug condescending type like they can’t believe they lucked out with suckers who agreed to pay insane amounts for their shitty food. They behave like captors or people how have entrapped you successfully, it makes me sick thinking about them. Valet parking is only $ 2 in this lot where the subway, pizza hut, el pollo loco, etc is. Would not recommend and I sure as hell am never going back.

Okay so three people, the server suggested the 200 dollar meal. We went in NOT knowing this place was THISEXPENSIVE! WTF!!! I spent 90BYMYSELF for the course they give you, and it is not much fish. They give you some Korean style sashimi, etc, and the Fish soup at the end to finish. Definitely will not be back, the room was also hot, and the servers never come because the bell is broken. I would have left but I was too hungry, and tired to leave. Will not be back.

Way too expensive for not much value. Portions are small and not a lot of sides for a Korean sashimi course. Food itself is decent but definitely not worth paying $ 100 a person(with drinks).

Stopped in for lunch, pondering some noodles or a bento box. Went with the noodles. Very good. Al dente, although I will admit that I’m not sure if al dente noodles are appreciated in Asian kitchens. Good broth and flavorful tempura. Tempura was fresh and not too greasy. Would like to come back and try the sushi.

Very good fish. Albacore that melts in your mouth. I can’t think of a single bad thing about the quality of the food. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but that’s to be expected with most quality sushi. I average about $ 30 a meal here and leave stuffed. The problem is that service is not very good. They are friendly enough with the hello’s and goodbye’s but it’s really difficult to get anybody to give you one moment of their time because they don’t seem to care about you unless you look like you just fell out of your daddy’s Maserati or you’re ordering over $ 100 worth of sushi per person. I tend to go in during the week, after work for casual meal and I guess maybe I don’t look fancy enough? There always seem to be at least two people working the floor as waitresses but they spend all their time with the people in the private rooms or people who have the large fancy sushi boats on their tables, so ordering can take so long and if you need anything after your initial order, GOODLUCK. I came here a good number of times. I loved it for the quality and I was really looking forward to using their private rooms sometime and trying their more expensive options when I’m looking to have a serious meal but the fact that they consistently make me feel like a cheap guest who is wasting their time has made me reluctant to go back again. It is VERY disappointing.

A tucked away sushi spot that’s legit. All the sushi I got plus all the ones recommended to me that I also got were on point. I do admit that the prices for sushi here are a bit on the high side. However, the quality of the sushi was top notch. The service and friendliness of the people here was exceptional. There are also rooms in which serve for a traditional Japanese eating experience. No major complaints from me. Try the sake! Everything was good.

I haven’t been to many sushi restaurants in Koreatown but that’s probably because I didn’t go to any other places after finding this place. This restaurant is conveniently located near Wilshire & Wilton. But it’s kind of hidden under the stairs of this plaza where it’s located. You really have to look for it on the first floor where elevator is located. Once you go inside, you’ll notice that they have private rooms available which I find it very private and quiet that I can be relaxed to. They have other menus available but I always order their sashimi course meal. Some of the dishes change from time to time and I think they bring out what is available in the season. Some dishes are traditionally Korean and some are more to the authentic Japanese style. I always find every dish that comes out to be enjoyable even if it’s not something that was served before. If I was to compare the omakase from Sasabune to sashime course meal from this place, you get about double the amount of dishes with half the cost. As for the taste, Sasabune has the edge but there’s not much difference in my opinion. The quality is very high here and it’s not something you expect from other common sushi places. If anyone likes a private room with calming environment and wants to try several different Korean/Japanese style dishes, I recommend this place ordering sashimi course meal.

I want to sit in one of their sliding door rooms. I usually stop in for a quick lunch and resort to a basic salmon roll and miso soup. I just tried this seaweed wrapped roll with crab and wooooooah! It’s my favorite thing to eat now! I would try more of their sushi, but maybe for dinner because it’s a bit pricey for lunch. Good service. Smells like fish, but it is a sushi bar after all!

High quality sushi/sashimi. Good taste, authentic wasabi. In the corner of the el pollo loco shopping mall. Lot of parking in the back, front is very busy and needs valet.

This is my neighborhood sushi bar, right across the street from me. The fish is fresh and of good quality. The rolls are creative. My favorite non-sushi menu item is the«Dragon Ball», which is spicy tuna and avocado over rice with a spicy sauce.

If you are an annoying sushi snob, this place is not for you. However, as a seafood restaurant it is bangin’. Get it straight; you get what you pay for. This is probably one of the best seafood values in Koreatown. The family platers are totally worth it, and feed more people than advertised(unless you happen to be a group of guys). Two thumbs up. This place is good for large parties, and parking is easy. Definitely coming back.

I don’t eat sushi so I will not comment on the food expect my Salmon Bento box I ordered. They didn’t give me teriyaki sauce for my Salmon… what the hell… my country ass needs some sauce! They also didn’t have a big roll selection, I think this place is very traditional Japanese(sushi/sashimi) I had an important meeting and this place has private rooms which is great for conversation and discussions. I never knew this place existed until today and I will definitely go there again for important meetings. Another plus… the presentation of food is superb! Looks very authentic and expensive(I don’t know how much it was cause I didn’t have to pay… oh yea~~~~~)

I really enjoyed having dinner at Boongho. 4 friends and I went for dinner on a Friday night, the place was small and luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table. There are private rooms available for reservation, but I believe there is an extra charge per person for the room. We ordered rolls family style to share: LA Roll, Tiger Roll, Domodotzzi Roll, Calamari Roll, Las Vegas Roll. All of the fish was really fresh and the rolls were really tasty.

$ 85 omakase was a great deal for the feast we were served! Boongho surpassed my expectations of a Korean sashimi restaurant. I’ve had better uni and ikura, but I can’t complain about much else. There are a lot of private tatami mat rooms where you sit on the floor if you prefer a more traditional experience. Too bad the waitresses aren’t in costume. Parking in this plaza is usually difficult because of Yoshinoya/Subway/El Pollo/and Pizza Hut, but they offer valet around dinnertime.
