* Blueberry Ricotta Pancake — Huge, light, fluffy and tastes awesome. * Maple Syrup — The real stuff. Not the super thick sweet stuff. Almost a water consistency with a nice amount of sweet — not too sweet. Very Good. * Coffee — Awesome!!! * Ode to Butterfields Benedict — It’s not the traditional Hollandaise sauce and that’s okay with me cause it was delicious. Med Rare. — House potatoes with chorizo pretty good. A real delight and a great breakfast spot.

See my tip. Can’t cook an egg — fail fail fail. Didn’t see any point in sending it back after trying to eat half of it and the second egg was just as disgusting. Breakfast chorizo potatoes were edible though. Not going back. Ever.

No wait. Service was spotty on a Friday afternoon. The pancakes were good and the salmon eggs benedict was just okay. I didn’t appreciate the fact that my potatoes were cold as if they were sitting out for a day. The bacon was thick cut and had a lot of fat on it. Not the crispy, delicious fat either. The pancakes had a nice crisp around its edges which surprised me. I liked these pancakes and I’m a waffle person.

I remembered coming here a couple years ago with a friend, and remembered it being good so I decided to come here again with my husband and a couple friends after we all ran the half marathon. We all saw the«B» health rating on the door and this made us all a little hesitant to go inside since we didn’t know what the«B» rating was for. Reluctantly, we decided to go in and have breakfast because we were all tired and everywhere else had very long waits. We were all pleasantly surprised actually! The wait wasn’t too bad and our server came to greet us pretty quickly. I had hot tea which was far superior than tea at other restaurants! I don’t know what brand they use, but it was good quality tea. For breakfast, I had the«Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast» with graham cracker crumbs, whipped vanilla cream cheese, and strawberries. I was worried that this might be way too heavy, but the portion was just right and it wasn’t too rich at all! It’s hard to make a whipped cream cheese topping for french toast that isn’t too heavy. The french toast was perfect, and SO tasty with the cream cheese topping and strawberries. My husband also wanted to try their«Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes» with berkshire maple syrup. We ended up taking these home, because these pancakes were HUGE. We definitely enjoyed them later. They were super tasty and quite a large portion. Our server was really nice and she seemed pretty on top of it. The meals were perhaps a little pricey, but certainly not bad for the area. I would like to see their«B» rating changed to an «A»(perhaps it is now), but other than that, everything was great and I saw no reason for them to have this rating. I would definitely recommend!

My first four star review. They’ve all been either a 1 or a 5 so far. Shaved off a star for the thick ass toast on the pulled pork Benedict. Maybe some people like that but it detracted from the dish for me. Also the pork itself could have had some more zip to it. Go with the steak and Cabernet hollandaise benedict over the pulled pork Benedict. That was . French press pot when you order coffee. A+

Great location! Parking: — Street parking in the neighborhood is available just around the corner Service: — Friendly, attentive service to our group of 4 Food: Strawberry cream cheese french toast: 5⁄5 — The reason we’ll be coming back! — Our table ordered this to share — Thick, soft, fluffy bread with a lightly crisp exterior — Strawberries and cream add richness and brighten up the flavor Crab cake benedict: 3⁄5 — Underseasoned crabcakes in my opinion — Spinach was either boiled/steamed so that it made the english muffins soggy :( — Would pass on ordering again Ode to Butterfield’s: 4⁄5 — Overhyped for sure — Very savory, enjoyable, you should try it once Braised pork and poached eggs: 2⁄5 — Again, nothing tasty/special about the pork — Crispy potatoes that came with it had grilled onions and were very tasty!

Really quite impressed with the quality of food served here. I had Avocado Toast, which was amazing. Poached egg, chorizo and poached egg on top of a baked avocado. Served with dry sourdough toast. Wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when I ordered it but was really impressed. Had the French press coffee which was bold and rich in flavor an enough for 4 mugs of coffee. Their bacon is thickly sliced and smokey in flavor and their blueberry ricotta pancakes are delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft inside. The flavor profile between the pancakes and the syrup is perfect. I’m not a fan of blueberries but I would order these for sure. Maybe on my next visit. The service was great and even though the restaurant was packed we were still able to get seated right away. A must try if you are in the area.

We came here for breakfast early Sunday morning and the place was pretty empty, which was a surprise-we were prepared to wait for a while, since it is a popular eatery. The parking is kind of an issue, since it is mostly street parking and this is West Hollywood after all, so make sure to read the signs! We started with coffee and it was a french press, strong coffee which was perfect for me, I am a coffee addict! For my main dish I got the Eggs Benedict– loved it! The seasoned potatoes on the side were to die for. I guess the ricotta and blueberry pancakes is what they are known for, so we had to try it. We got one order for the table and shared. Let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. Very fluffy, flavorful. I’m not a huge fan of blueberries, yet I loved these pancakes! Beyond that, the staff was very nice. Our waitress was very sweet and took her time to make some suggestions and was attentive throughout our breakfast. I am planning on coming back again soon!

I have only ever been to BLD for breakfast, but it’s definitely one of my favorite breakfast places in LA. Listen to all of the reviews and order the ricotta blueberry pancakes. They totally live up to the hype because they are amazing. Ricotta cheese makes such a difference in these pancakes. They have a crispy texture on the outside, but are extremely moist, fluffy, and loaded with ricotta on the inside. Also, please note that these pancakes are massive and that you will undoubtably get sick if you eat them all to yourself. Do yourself a favor and share these with a friend. If you’re looking for something savory to help balance out all the sugar, get the wild mushroom omelette with a side of roasted fingerling potatoes. Both also fantastic.

**A-OK BRUNCH** There are a LOT of good brunch places in this hood. However, this one was just A-OK(insert OK emoji). ABOUT ====== BLD, which stands for breakfast, lunch and dinner has been opened since June 2006. Focuses on casual American cuisine or upscale café food. Most requested dishes are the artisan cheese and charcuterie and the blueberry-ricotta pancakes. Dine indoors or out, or to a counter that seats twelve. PARKING ======== Residential street and metered. AMBIANCE ========= Located in a popular neighborhood spot. Sat outside with good view of passer-bys on Beverly Blvd. Good mix of young, fun, and well-to-do customers. FOOD ===== RICOTTABLUEBERRYPANCAKES You should order sides with this. Because it’s gets tiresome after the 6th bite. Boring pancakes with enough maple syrup to save it. RATING: 3⁄5 The husband was disappointed with his THREEBEANHUEVOSRANCHEROS. Said it was mostly 70% beans. SERVICE ======= Ours was friendly enough. Not genuine, but easy-going. RATING: 3.5÷5 PROTIPS ======== — No alcohol consumption on their patio seating. :( — They don’t take reservations for breakfast, brunch, or lunch for parties under 5 persons. Be prepared to wait 15 – 20 minutes. OVERALL ======== Atmosphere was better than the pancakes. This place wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my favorite. RECOMMEND if you have a group of more than 5 and don’t want to wait by making advance reservations here.

SERVICE: without a doubt 5 stars. We came on a Sunday, and were seated immediately, unlike other busy brunch places that take over an hour. Our waiter took such amazing care of us, knew the menu like the back of his hand, gave us amazing recommendations. The food was really creative and so delicious, wr got the ricotta pancakes to share, the fried avocado egg, the vegan Benedict, and the shrimp tacos. The pancakes were really great and not dry! I didn’t even need syrup because it was the perfect moist consistency. The vegan Benedict was really good, my brother said the fake bacon was actually good! My mom enjoyed her avocado egg and wants to learn how to make it herself. My brother said he enjoyed his tacos too! The downfall was the cleanliness. Our plates and spoons weren’t clean, and also what’s up with the B rating on the door?

The food is good and prices are expected for LA brunch prices. I got the crab cake egg benedict and it was good, but it was a little cold when it came out. If it was warm and toasted right out of the oven then it would’ve been better. I got a side salad and that was very good. The Spanish Scramble was only okay for me, it was a little bland and I’m not a fan of the meat that’s in it. I think it’s a chorizo sausage type of meat? The fingerling potatoes were quite good though. Blueberry pancake was very delicious, probably the best part of the meal. Our server seemed like she didn’t like us and didn’t really want serve us at all. Her attitude seemed to get progressively worse as the meal went on. But overall the meat is good, although I think maybe I expected amazing since BLD is such a popular brunch spot in DTLA.

Really loved my experience here. I came here with two friends, and we only had to wait around fifteen minutes for a table, which was awesome! The inside of the restaurant isn’t the most spacious or gorgeous, but it makes use of the space(fits as many people as it can!). I ordered the fried egg sandwich(toasted sourdough bread, nueske’s thick cut bacon, gruyère, aioli) with a side of the roasted fingerling potatoes. My friends also ordered dishes with eggs/meat, so we can’t say anything about the ricotta pancakes :(But! We can definitely say that BLD is killing the egg/benedict/fritatta game. My sandwich was DELICIOUS, and my potatoes were pretty darn good too(which is saying a lot because I’m not a particularly huge fan of potatoes). Note: the servings are pretty large, but yay for ~LEFTOVERS~! The staff is super friendly, and I had a great experience. I would definitely come back here again, because now I’m determined to taste how the ricotta blueberry pancakes are!

Great for brunch! We decided to come here even though there were no reservations available until the next day(according to the website). We ended up waitin 30 minutes, which was fine considering it was Valentine’s Day! We ordered: 1) Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes — the ricotta cheese makes such a difference in these pancakes! The pancakes were huge and the order came with two pancakes and they were fluffy, buttery heaven! 2) House Cured Salmon Benedict with a side of Spanish Chorizo Home Fries — the Spinach and the Hollandaise were not too overpowering, although the salmon was a bit salty. But I enjoyed this dish because the flavors worked so well together! We would definitely come back again but probably before the lunch rush or just make a reservation next time. This brunch was a hipstery experience but the staff was very friendly and the customer service was awesome! There was always someone available or nearby to assist you go even though it was very busy. Go for the pancakes! I would have liked to take the mini metal syrup house with me because it was so cute haha

Great little place that has an awesome staff and a fun menu. We got there early ish with a reservation for brunch on Saturday and our decent sized group were seated rather quickly. Service was phenomenal, and we enjoyed an array of traditional and transnational breakfast fare. The plates were actually quite sizely, with a lot of eggs. I was not a huge fan of the baccon, as it had a little bit of a funny taste to me, and was just too limp. The blueberry pancakes were bomb. We got an order to split among the table and we had so much food it was hard to cram it down. I wish I could have made some of these puppies at home, that and the little maple syrup house was cute.

4 stars because I don’t believe any place should ever run out of avocado. Needless to say, I was craving eggs with avocado and I was depressed to hear they ran out. It was upsetting because there’s an avocado dish on the menu. I also craved a pineapple Mirmosas, thank goodness those were in stock! Ordered the fried egg sandwich with fingerling potatoes, luckily the amazingness that was on my plate helped me suppress my avocado heartache. It was crazy loud in here, and it was only due to other patrons conversing. Pretty cool that they have pressed coffee table side.

My husband and I were staying in LA for New Years weekend, and after waking up on New Year’s Day a bit worse for the wear, we took to Unilocal to find a nearby place to stuff our mouths we delicious carbs and grease– enter BLD. There was about a 30 minute wait, but we waited slightly longer before we were seated. I was slightly annoyed while we were waiting as it seemed they were slow to turn tables, as dirty tables sat for about 5 minutes before being cleaned, and there were some tables that just sat empty. Anywho, we planned what we wanted to eat in line, so we ordered as soon as I our waitress came by. My husband got the pancakes with a side of pork sausage, and I had the fried egg sandwich. Our food came out pretty quickly. My fried egg sandwich was delicious. The bacon was perfectly cooked, the egg was slightly runny and the aioli added great flavor. The side of dinner long potatoes were also perfectly seasoned. One minor qualm– I know the bread was toasted, but it was a little too thick and crunchy, which made it hard to eat. My husband’s pancakes were really good as well. In fact, I’m surprised he shared a bite with me. The side of sausage, on the other hand, was underwhelming. It was just a big dry link with zero flavor. Although our food was good, our waitress was pretty MIA. I only saw her when she took our order and then we should dropped off the check. I know it’s LA, and I should expect things to cost more, but $ 15 for a breakfast sandwich and $ 16 for pancakes? Were the pancakes made with organic wheat harvested with the tears of a small Guatemalan child?

My second time trying BLD out. Last time, a friend got the blueberry pancakes and I remember it being delicious. So I decided to get the blueberry pancakes this time around. It was not as good as I remembered. I felt like I was stuffing my mouth with baked batter. My boyfriend got the strawberry cream cheese French toast and it was a lot better than I expected. I kept on eating off his plate rather than eating my pancakes. We also ordered the side of thick bacon and that was worth the order. Overall, the ambience is cool. It was a pretty diverse crowd. A bit too pricey for what it is. It wasn’t worth the drive to the west side. I wouldn’t choose to come back to this place again… in short, it was just ehhhh.

BLD was a delightful breakfast to start off a day filled with museum-hopping and shopping. I don’t usually drive out to this area so I took the opportunity to dine at this spot that I had stored in my bookmarks for a while! My breakfast started off with a glass of Granny’s Bloody Mary. I thought it was overpriced at $ 10, but the drink nonetheless was spicy and refreshing. I also got a sip of the spicy bloody mary which was just too hot for me but if you’re into the burn of spicy food, this may be the drink for you. I got the house cured salmon benedict. It came with a side of salad or potatoes. The smoked salmon was slightly salty but still worked with the english muffin and the cooked spinach. The eggs were precisely poached and oozed onto the rest of the contents of the dish. I would order this one again. The ricotta blueberry pancakes on the other hand was just ordinary. It was fluffy and sweet but between the two of us, we could only eat a third of it until we felt like puking. We boxed the rest to eat at home, but unfortunately pancakes make for a horrible and soggy leftover. So the majority of this was sadly gone to waste… Everything was a bit pricey but the elegant atmosphere made up for it. Parking is free in the residential area, but read the signs carefully!

I love breakfast just as much as the next person, but I find myself choosing to revisit my favorite staples more often than venturing out to try new breakfast spots. Maybe I’m actively neglecting what seems to be my duty as an LA resident to spend my weekends discovering the next best brunch spot… maybe I’m okay with that. In any case, extra pat on the back for me, then, for finally making it out to BLD for breakfast. With upwards of 2,000 reviews, BLD is in no way a new discovery, but it is a pretty tasty dish. Got the famed Fried Egg Sandwich along with the equally famed Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes. Obviously, got my sandwich with a side order of polenta, because I am incapable of not ordering polenta when I see it on any menu. Both the sandwich and the pancakes have already been beaten to death on Unilocal so I’m not adding anything new when I say that both are pretty great. The pancakes are supremely soft and fluffy, with the ricotta helping produce the lightest of consistencies. The blueberries lend a tart bite and the syrup is served in the cutest little container resembling a snowy house. Safe to say that there was a lot of cooing at the mini-mini house of syrup(I love anything/everything mini-mini). The pancakes were great, but if I were to order one thing on my return visit, it would have to be the Fried Egg Sandwich. Thick cut bacon, ooey gooey gruyère, aioli… what’s not to love? The toasted sourdough was warm and crunchy, the fried egg — perfectly runny, and the bacon… Oh, the bacon. So thick, so smoky, so delicious. When all’s said and done, it is a melty mess of a sandwich and it is glorious. If the sandwich is awesome, the polenta is just okay — a bit under seasoned and not as creamy as I prefer. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at BLD. I’m sure the fact that I found easy street parking right out front and that there was no wait to be seated contributed to the experience, but I’m also sure that the food was good. It’s a little far for me to be making regular weekend trips, but I’m sure I’ll be back!
