Bouncer hates his life and takes it out on everyone. Wouldn’t let me in cause I was drinking outside of the bar, literally grabbed my drink out of my hands without my permission. Fuck this place.

The bouncer is RIDICULOUS. The security is RIDICULOUS. I don’t know what incident made them this way, but they are way too out of line. The security guard at the door saw me about 5 cars away get out of my friend’s vehicle with a cup in my hand & drink it and throw the cup away. When I finally walk up to the door, he says he can’t let me in because he saw me drinking out of a cup & that when I noticed him I threw it away.(I didn’t have my glasses on so I didn’t even notice him at the door. I heard my name being called so I was trying to squint to find her.) I had never heard of such a «law». I was literally taken aback. I said it was definitely not public intoxication because I wasn’t even intoxicated. Needless to say, he didn’t let me in & my 10 friends and birthday boy –who were already inside– all had to leave because he wouldn’t budge on this never-before heard law he was trying to enforce. If somebody knows what law he’s referring to please let me know, because we are all still dumbfounded as to what he was even talking about. I tried googling it and found nothing. All in all, unreasonably terrible door man.

Amazing hole in the wall place. Came here for a friends birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the music… 90s with some hip hop, the crowd was pretty diverse, a little hipster. The most amazing part was the patio out back. Cover is free, don’t hold you in line too long. I’ll be back.

Wow no DJ’s in favor of repeating playlist. Haha, that’s laughable from the older set up where people used to write good reviews about Black. I guess they don’t like black people.

The owner was incredibly rude. All I did was request a song and I got yelled at and the security threatened to kick me out. I was enjoying my time but it was extremely unprofessional and I am never coming back.

First time going and will definitely be back! Awesome bartenders, cheap drinks, more than one stall thank god! No bs entrance cover fee. The music is great and the atmosphere was chill. Had a good time!

I love black. Especially on the week nights. I am scared of the weekends because the line is so long, but I’m there all the time.

Always fun times at Black. Music is always terrific, drinks are always excellent, and crowd is always amusing. The vibes are eclectic, slightly hipster-ish but welcoming. I’ve never had a real issue with anyone here. People just vibe and hang out with their crew. I usually like to go inside and dance near the DJ for a couple songs then make my way back outside to post up with my friends. The line can get long but I usually befriend someone at the door(Power of the P) and never really have an issue. However, I have waited before and it does move rather quickly. Overall, Black is consistently entertaining. Def one of my favorites spots to hit up when I want to let loose.

This place is so weird… Now let me start by saying that I dig hip-hop music — it absolutely bumps up any bar experience for me, which is why I gave it that extra star. But yikes, it is not worth trying to deal with the clientele that go to Black. The crowd was the strangest mix of white rastas and hipsters. I was pretty unimpressed by their thrashing to the music — my drink was almost knocked out of my hand multiple times! Needless to say, though I loved the music, I will not be back. What’s the point in good music if nobody knows how to dance to it?

The best place to have a good evening with your friends, parents or a loved one. Great snacks for a romantic evening with a glass of wine. Good choice of wines from all over the world.

No. Just… no. Have given this place two chances. Two more than it deserved. The sooner I’m done with this review the sooner I can stop thinking about how much this place sucks so that’s that. The end.

I really have had fun in the times that I’ve come visited black bar. I always liked the low key looking bars yet when you come inside there is a nice patio area, a cool lounge corners to sit, and a place to dance. What else do you require? I’ve been here on a weekday and on a busy weekend Saturday. Both times I’ve never had a problem getting a drink from a quick bartender. The variety of liquor and beer here is enough for me. The music played here is awesome. The dj definitely gets the crowd moving towards the end of the night. Perhaps you might not be one of those get up and dance but sit around and talk type of group of friends… here they provide you with an atmosphere that is just right for that too! There’s no cover charge and the drinks are relatively the same price if not even cheaper than most places in Hollywood or Santa Monica. The only problem is the parking in which I would just recommend parking in a neighborhood a block away and not necessarily on the Main Street as police are always out and about. Cheers to your good night!

Came in around 11:30 and the line was just starting to pick up. We got in and it was packed wall to wall. The service was fairly on point for how busy it was. The crowd was hipsters trying to be hip hop. The music ranged from 90’s hip hop to new releases. So it had everyone going on the inside. The patio was packed with a more chill vibe, still packed though. We saw a guy selling cocaine next to us on the patio, it was kinda funny and pretty obvious, but no one seemed to care. I’m an awkward person so I couldn’t get into the dancing and crowdedness, however it was an interesting bar to visit.

Black is great on week days if you want a quiet place to drink, and even better on weekends when you want to have a great time with friends. During the week, I’ve never seen them have their outdoor patio open and I’ve always been able to find a spot at the par or in their lounge. They have reasonably priced cocktails that feel like heavy pours. On the weekend though, their outdoor patio is opened, which draws a much larger crowd. I hate being in a zoo of people, unable to walk from one side of a bar to another without bumping into a hundred people. That is a nightmare to me, but this has never been the case at Black. I like that they have a smaller bar setup outside on the patio so you don’t have to navigate the much more crowded interior bar. There’s some room for dancing indoors, but I’d recommend this more as a great place for congregating on a birthday or a going away party, when you want to have a great time with friends and still be able to talk to everyone. The outdoor patio is perfect for that. I’m glad this place popped up as it’s a great addition to the neighborhood!

First time at Black and won’t be the last, absolutely loved the atmosphere, the crowd, the music was on point, and really reasonably priced drinks. BONUS: as you leave the bar there’s a street food stand right there and it’s delicious.

If you’re in your early to mid-twenties and want a really casual spot to grab a drink with one of the most ethnically diverse crowds I’ve seen at a bar in a very long time, then Black is for you. The only downside is that they can’t put speakers on the nice outside patio because Black is essentially in a residential neighborhood so they gotta contain the noise. Aside from that, it’s a really solid joint.

I was invited here for a birthday gathering, and didn’t really think too much of the place. I like dive bars, but this one seemed completely disorganized and poorly run. The bartenders didn’t know how to make simple drinks and the décor looked like after thought. Besides the people I came with, no one seemed that friendly. I wanted to leave a few minutes after I arrived, and if it wasn’t for my friends, I would have.

I’ve gone to this bar a couple of times and I gotta say I enjoyed it, but that all changed last night(Friday) of course when I had an incident with the«new» waitress, and the so call manager. She the waitress overcharged me, after bringing it to her attention she said i had to talk to her manager so i did. The«manager» accused me of not wanting to pay for my drinks, And also said she was pretty sure I was leaving a big tip of course being sarcastic, while finally telling me not to ever come back again?! Well now what kind of consumer service is that? She should be ashamed of calling herself a manager.

I LOVEBLACK! The staff is wonderful, the décor is sexy, the music rocks, the space is clean, and their wines are SOGOOD! Liquor and beer are not for me, so I’ve had a lot of really bad bar wine, to the point that(as the very patient and sweet co-owner now knows…) I can go on endlessly about my favorite bars of the last ten years that quietly stashed killer wine. Wishing them every success, and I’ll definitely help, because I want to go back and check out that patio!

The best bar in LA, as far as I’m concerned. Owned by skaters. For sure, a skate bar. Monday is basically hipster night. Patio is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday. That’s the perfect place to be — smoking and drinking at the same time. Nice bartenders and mellow crowd. Always good music & dance floor. Fantastic, eclectic movies playing. I found my heaven. Please bury me at this bar.
