Place has a long wait period, but it’s so delicious. The birria doesn’t smell too strong like other places and my boule friend thought he was eating pork. Hahaha. Coffee is pretty good too. I love that I can take the gold line and not be stuck in traffic.

Be aware: this restaurant has nothing else on the menu but Birria. That’s all. What about some rice? Nope Beans? Nope Salad? Nope T– Nope No Tortillas? Oh yes, I thought you were going to say Tacos. Yes on tortillas. My family and I came to celebrate a birria-lover’s birthday. Most of us wanted to share a nice big plate but our waiter made it perfectly clear with his looks that he didn’t like that. He wanted each and everyone of us to get our own plate. After taking an order of 3 plates for 6 of us he walked away and I saw him tell a lady something with disgust pointing with his head at our table. I’m sorry we like sharing, and one plate is a lot! Because I caught that act of his I decided to make our stay even longer. We asked for this and that, and that and this. Then we asked some more. I overheard a man asking for rice and beans, when they told him there was none whatsoever the man was shocked and looked around. I gave him an «I feel the same way» look. We shared a mutual feeling, the feeling of «next time lets rethink this place.»

Fantastic Birria. Goat was mostly tender, consommé was rich and flavorful, and the tortillas were fresh. As an added bonus, the salsa is phenomenal — spicy and incredibly flavorful. A little goes a long way with that stuff. I got the full order which was around $ 12. It honestly wasn’t as much food as I was expcting — just enough if you are very hungry.

Awesome, authentic birria, expertly seasoned and roasted, intricate sauce full of flavor and for $ 10 it’s an absolute must. You get a plateful of birria with 3 fresh tortillas, cilantro, lime, onions and a spicy, tasty hot sauce. It warms your soul and puts you at peace. It’s seriously that good. Staff is fast, friendly and hospitable. There really isn’t anything bad I can say about the place. Even the portion size, which I thought was small at first, turned out to be just right. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys birria and especially for newcomers. Although it may ruin you for other versions of it.

My parents used to drag me here when I was like 1, I pretended not to like it just to spite them but even I couldn’t resist how amazing this food was/is. You want birria? order it here, it’s the bee’s knees, the cat’s pajamas, it’s great food for a great price.

located between 1st at and Bailey. Barrier is De Don Boni a small family owned restaurant with a great atmosphere. The main dish is Birria or Goat served with cosome/broth. The prices vary as there are different sizes for the orders of Birria but are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant especially on a cold day! The only thing is that is a bit of a wait as there is limited seating, but is well worth it.

Ok this place is for someone who wants authentic mexican birria… its made of chivo(goat) and it’s rediculously tender. The menu is very limited to basically one thing. .birria. I ordered mine with the broth over the meat. it it’s pretty much perfect… you are given diced onions cilantro and lime at your table to prepare it to your liking. .and salsa as well. .go easy on the salsa… blending in a bit at a time with your broth till you get the perfect spice level you want… it’s worth it! …my hubby went crazy with the salsa pouring it directly onto the taco he made.(not mexican) lol. and he was hurting afterwards… lol…Prices are great quality is great. service could be better… remember to bring quarters for the parking meter.

Love this place, don’t doubt coming here. The servers are super friendly and very helpful. The place is very clean but small, you might have to wait for 20 minutes but it’s all worth it.

I recently started working in the area and have been scoping out different places to have lunch. I walked past this place a few times and finally decided to go in today. I saw people ordering without menus. I asked for a menu and basically it’s one choice… Birriea, half order or full order, and a great selection of drinks. I got a half order, which was plenty for me. I wasn’t expecting to be impressed, but OMG!!! This was one of the best tasting dishes I have ever had. I’ve had birriea at parties and other special occasions, but none have tasted like this. This was the best ever! I will definitely be coming back and bring my co-workers too.

Love this place. Went here for the first time after hearing my parents rave about it so much. I’m not a big birria fan, but with this windy weather I thought it would be perfect. Parking wasn’t a problem because we went early on a weekday. We were greeted 3 minutes after we got seated. The waiter taking care of us was so polite and efficient. He right away took our order and brought out our drinks. The birria was brought out fairly quick as well. WOW I’ve never had birria like this before. It was so juicy tender and delicious. To top it off the salsa picante they have ties all the flavored together. The only down side was they don’t offer rice and beans. But other than that it was a perfect experience. Will be going back to take my husband so he can try it as well.

I randomly walked in here on a Friday night to have dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a birrieria. It was a great meal! The place is pretty big so it’s family friendly. They have desert options like flan. Their take out looked very popular also. I will definitely be back next time I come see a show in Boyle Heights.

Dang, I have been eating birria since I was a child. It’s one of my favorite foods. I have eaten it all over L.A. I can honestly say that«Birrieria Don Boni» Is my favorite. This is how birria should taste. You can’t order chicken or stake, they only make birria and it shows. They have mastered the art of making birria. I took about 20 minutes to be seated but it was worth the wait. Everyone in my group agreed 5 star all around. The service was excellent. The home made tortillas are perfect. They even have coca cola from mexico. Birrieria Don Boni, a true Mexican experience!

I forgot to use the coupon but I’m soooooooo happy to find the hidden gem. Would like to give them 10 stars if I could.

The story began In 1972 — Founder Don Bonifacio Gonzales, who grew up in Jalisco where he inherited the over 100 year-old Family recipe of authentic Birria from his uncle. He then opened his first Birrieria, called the Birrieria Jalisco in 1972. It’s the Summer of 2012 and although the name has changed to Birrieria Don Boni the story continues… not sure why they went through a name change but I assume the birrieria is still Family run, the name now pays tribute to the father who started it all here in Los Angeles, Ca and the décor remains unchanged. Birria Menu as you can see it can be ordered in different ways and quantities. Birria de Chivo — Hal Order NO Bones($ 9.75) Beautifully braised Goat meat, nicely trimmed and lean meat, their consommé has great flavor and NEVER fatty The name might have changed but this place Hands Down still has the BEST Birria in Los Angeles

This birria is the best birria I’ve tried so far from Jalisco! You can’t miss this spot when you come to Los Angeles and it’s right next to the Mariachi plaza! Parking is located in the back near the alley way… FYI don’t forget to check in through here to get your 10% discount, it actually works!

I give their food a 5 star!!! No complaints about that! Customer service is not so great at this place. They are unorganized. There have been a couple of times where they take forever just to take my order. Also a lot of the times I guess they FORGET who sat down first so they will give their food to people who sat down after you. This is the reason why I say they are unorganized. The only waiters who have never let me down(I’ve been going there for well over 10 years) are the only 2 males who work there. All of the female waitresses always either take forever, forget about you, or give food to people who got there after you. Once I waited 40 mins just to get my order taken. I was not happy about that at all.

My friend wanted to introduce me to the best birria in town and he took me here. It was delicious! We shared a large platter and added an extra order of tortillas. The meat was so tender and the broth was just incredibly rich and flavorful. Great service, outstanding birria, and reasonable prices. Plus we got a discount with our Unilocal check-in! I look forward to returning.
