I loved the service. I enjoyed my Mac and cheese along with my order of tacos. The food was good for the price. I also love the décor, very romantic. I enjoyed it a lot.

To make it simple: Thank goodness for William, the bar tender in the private area upstairs. He took such good care of us, managed to get us upstairs since there was no party up there, and treated us so well. He is a gem for the restaurant. My friends all came from Seattle and Portland and Beso’s exceeded their expectations because of this man. Drinks were great, ambiance was amazing, and the food was delicious! I’d go back again, just because of William. Thank you William!!! I almost forgot, Virgil was our waiter and he was really kind and great too! Thank you Virgil!

Beso really is such a treat! The 2 of us came in for dinner on a Tuesday evening. The low lighting and cushy U-shaped booths provided the perfect intimate date night. The high ceilings and open event area seating on the second floor made the space feel big & not claustrophobic. We ordered Lobster Quesadilla, 4 tacos(2 tuna tartar, 1 skirt steak, and 1 shrimp), Ceviche, and the Jumbo Scallops with truffle mashed potatoes. Everything was so delicious! The ceviche tasted just like a trip to Mexico and the scallops were perfectly cooked. My date had a whiskey cocktail that included honey(!!) and I swear it’s the best drink I’ve had in LA. Overall, the food, drink, atmosphere gets 5 stars. One star removed because a waiter was haggling our neighboring table for a bigger tip. That put me off and made me embarrassed for the customers. I’d love to come back with a bigger party to see how they handle groups!

Holy crap the tacos are amazing. I could have eaten them all night! I had the chili rubbed steak, which was good but lacked salt. I asked the waitress to bring salt to the table which I generously applied to my meal. We also ordered the truffle Mac n cheese, which was delicious but a bit cold. My sister had the lamb, which she was extremely happy with! We ended the meal with the churro a dessert, which made us both extremely happy! Would definitely recommend!

FINALLY, I have tried Beso! And I am so soo happy we did. Food was amazing! Started off with the Eva’s Guacamole and Taco Sampler — get the steak and the shrimp ones SOGOOD! Then we switched gears and ordered the Ribeye and Truffled Mac & Cheese, first time I’ve ever ordered something truffle and you can actually taste it! Ya’ll know exactly what I mean. Ribeye was super tender and flavorful and a huuuuge cut. I had the Raspberry Gimlet, yumms. The only reason I’m taking a star off is because the service was painstakingly slow. However, the food came insanely fast, our apps came before my drink. I’m not even upset with our server because he was great, looked like he was working a busy night with only one other server. I’m more upset with the douchey manager who kept strolling around in his suit, doing nothing but check himself out. He walked past our table multiple times when we sat down and never once offered to grab us water or drinks. If you’re the manager and your staff is slammed, it’s your job to help out. End rant. All in all, an amazing night at Beso, will definitely be back for more deliciousness. Really loved the atmosphere and sexy vibes.

Went here for my Bday. What can I say, the ambience was a sight to behold! The food was good. Not exceptional, but still enough to want to try the other items. We tried the avocado dips. I actually enjoyed the other version over Eva’s. Still tasty though. We tried the trio of tacos as well as one of the entrees. Their banana’s foster dessert was so yummy too! Our waiter was such a treat as well. Always making sure we were ok and he was cute to boot lol. Anyhoo had a lovely time here and would love to come here for drinks.

An open letter to Eva Longoria… — — — — — — — — - Beso’s two star rating on Unilocal perfectly encapsulates our dining experience: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» How best should I explain it? Perhaps it’s unfair to compare this place to, say, Alma De Cuba in Philadelphia(that place is THEBOMB). But then again, why shouldn’t I make the comparison? At the end of the day, we didn’t feel like this place was worth the price for sub-par food. Three of us decided to check this place out with a $ 60 for $ 30 Groupon — don’t judge; Tuesday night is one of their slow nights. For starters, there is a slightly intimidating bouncer at the door. At least, he seemed intimidating — until we walked right by and opened the door ourselves. So much for«show of force»(LOL…) The place was pretty empty when we walked in — just a smattering of guests /guests of management? The interior décor is incredibly dark, which wouldn’t be a problem until you realize it is entirely closed off to outside view. I get it, it’s located in a slightly gritty part of Hollywood, but I couldn’t shake the unmistakeable feeling of being inside an upscale warehouse. As we were escorted to our table, we walked past a disproportionately large tank of ice, with a slightly smaller amount of lemons — which was covering three tiny fish. At least the eyes were clear. We ordered an extensive spread — two appetizers, a beer, a caipirinha, and three entrees. Almost every item left us wanting — either for sweeter cachaça, more tender short ribs, a better-seasoned jidori chicken, or a less«gristly» ribeye. It’s no wonder that the place was half empty during dinner service. Sorry Eva, you may want to call Steven Starr for some tips on turning this place around.

I was a little skeptical about this place having read some of the bad reviews, but I must say, my experience was pretty good. We ordered a bunch of the small plates including the tuna tacos(which I found interesting, but very flavorful. The truffle Mac and Cheese was pretty delicious as well. We tried the corn, which was neither here nor there(it was ok, but prob wouldn’t order again) and the shrimp flatbread was ok as well. For dessert we shared the churros, which is the best option from their selection, but I wasn’t impressed with them at all. All in all, our experience was pleasant because our expectations were low. I must say the food is good but nothing special.

I just have to say if you use groupon, it’s not that bad but it is def not worth paying the full price on the menu. Do not order Flat bread, it tastes worse than frozen pizza that you get from Ralphs lol If you are going for drinks, not bad although one drink is about $ 15 on average. Def use groupon if you hit this spot. Skirt stake was okay. Nothing memorable. Mac&Cheese was actually pretty good. The waitress was not very nice either. Valet parking was $ 12 or $ 13 I think. If you part in the public parking right across the street, it’s $ 10 for 2 hours after 6pm or something like that. I would not go out of your way to hit this spot. If you are in the area and have groupon, maybe…

This place is a joke. The woman manager is rude and unpleasant. Not allowed to walk inside the restaurant after clearly having proof of another manager saying we would be refunded our meal. The previous time we came to beso an employee wrote himself a huge tip after we had signed the receipt. The manager told us we weren’t the only people he did this too. And then we got treated like this!!! The food is below par anyway.

I have had Beso bookmarked for years, so when a friend invited me for dinner and drinks, of course I said YES! The night started out great. Valet parking, door man, pretty hostess, cool bar area, so far so good, right? Aesthetically, this place hits the mark. Beso is a beautiful swanky looking restaurant with a trendy modern edge. The restaurant has posh décor, gorgeous dimly lit chandeliers and candle-lit lighting throughout, with sexy modern Spanish rock and Spanish pop music playing in the background. Clearly Eva’s good taste translates to her establishment. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and the first thing I noticed was the tables were uncomfortably too close together. I felt like we were intruding on the date happening at the neighboring table. I hate that. I could hear every word they were saying and we had to whisper as to not speak over each other and keep our conversation private. It was weird and awkward. The service: Our waiter was extremely neglectful. He took our drink order. Came back an hour later for our dinner order. Came back an hour later for our dessert order. Came back an hour later to bring us the bill. One of our dishes, a salad, never arrived, but there was no one to notify. By the time our waiter approached the table, we had finished our meal and were over it. I would have liked a glass of wine or another cocktail with dinner, but homie was nowhere to be found for that either. By the time he brought our check he stopped apologizing. He knew it was really bad. I haven’t had service this awful, maybe ever. True story. The food: The food was good. I especially liked the ceviche. The star of the meal were the churros we had for dessert, which would have gone great with the cappuccino I ordered, but never arrived. Seriously– worse service ever. Also, during dessert, the lost salad from our entrée showed up– over an hour later! It was ridiculous. The verdict: Beso is going to be a No. You can easily find a beautiful restaurant with good food is all over the city. To earn repeat business, loyal customers and ultimately great Unilocal reviews, its all about the customer service and the experience. Beso failed. Surely this place survives on the good name of the owner, the touristy location and first time customers. There are plenty of surrounding restaurants with the same trendy edge, excellent food and AMAZING service. Check out my «It’s a date» list and«Places I go out» list, for my picks in the city.

My friend had a Groupon that was expiring, so we came. I’ve never been to Beso, nor had a desire to go but since it was free. Sure, why not! First off valet parking is $ 13.00 for the restaurant. Ummm, no I would not pay that much for parking. I parked at W Hollywood Hotel(free for me) and walked over, I did notice across from the W Hotel there was a parking lot that was charging $ 10.00 We walked up to the restaurant and there was a doorman who opens the door for you, at first we walked pass by the place because it’s just a restaurant. Who has a doorman? lol. He was friendly and funny. Our reservations were at 7:30pm and it was still sunny outside, we walk in to this dark restaurant. I could not see anything, I had to wait till my eyes adjusted to the lighting or should I said darkening. Restaurant itself is beautiful, it has such potential. I don’t know why it was so dead on a Friday night. Our first waiter was an odd fellow, he had this British accent which we thought was fake. He was a bit impatient and acted like he was soooo busy. Anyways we ordered our food and midway our waiter changed to a different guy(who was much better and personable). Anyways on to the food we started off with Eva’s Avocado Guacamole– nothing special, I’ve had better. Lobster Quesadilla– chunks of lobster pieces, very tasty but very small portions. Shrimp & Chorizo Flatbread– we got this w/o the Chorizo since my friend does not eat pork. Each bite had big pieces of shrimp and tasted delicious Jidori Chicken– I thought it was going to be a boring piece of chicken but the roasted chicken had so much flavor and very juicy. Lots of herb seasoning. the purple potatoes at first tasted bland but once i mixed in the butter sauce it was sooo good. Dessert: Beso Churros– YUM! Hot out the fryer, it was soft and crispy. A must try! I don’t think I will be coming back to Beso but I’m glad I got to try it.

The only reason why we went here is because me and my friend were on set for a TV show that filmed in this location, and we have been pretty much best friends ever since. We decided that day to come back a year later to celebrate our MANiversary. Yea, we are weird. We were shocked that on a Friday night in Hollywood at 8 pm this place was dead. I had a reservation but clearly did not need it, as walk ins were greatly appreciated. I would assume that a restaurant owned by Eva Longoria(perhaps she moved on from here) to be better managed than this. The guests(not all of them) were dressed like they were going to a Denny’s. I was so put off by this especially given the fact that the have $ 30-$ 40 entrees. The service was stellar. Had a drink at the bar before hand, and the bartender was attentive, I mean sure there was no one else there. Credit still given to him. The server we had was also very good. No complaints from any staff. Shrimp Tacos — 4 tacos VERY well seasoned, and shrimp was cooked beautifully. No complaints. Perfect dish Lobster Quesadilla — Should say lobster shaving or «hint of lobster» quesadilla. it was only half of a quesadilla. I wasn’t impressed at all. For an upscale restaurant, I feel like this could have been off of a taco truck. NOT impressive. My friend that I went with got the filet, and it was cooked great, and he said it was awesome. I don’t eat much meat so I took his word for it. For $ 40 it better be damn perfect. came with no sides. The worst thing about this place… A damn BATHROOMATTENDANT!!! The bathroom is barely big enough for one person, now you have someone to give me stale gum, and turn my water on? I wash my hands, and go to reach for a towel form the dispenser and it’s empty. A voice off to the side offers that he has plenty of towels. I accept, and then begin the awkward conversation that I don’t carry cash. I have to pee in front of a stranger, and then pay him. Get with the times, Beso. I think that we may need to skip tradition, and have MANiversary somewhere else… Shame.
