Berlin Currywurst is a small little kiosk in the LA Central Market. I came at the later end when all the stores were closing up here. I’m gonna give props to the cashier; he was polite(with an amazing sense of style!). He explained the menu to us whenever we had a question. I ordered the chicken sausage with spicy cayenne and fries(German not French) for a side and my friend ordered the currywurst. I liked that we could see where the meal was being made as I was waiting for the food. The meal are pretty good for the price. The chicken sausage was big and juicy, the bread roll was HUGE. I had to take out the sausage and just tear pieces out. The sauerkraut was not overpowering and very mellow in comparison to the rest of the meal. In the middle, I ordered some currywurst sauce to dunk my chicken sausage and fries in and the sauce was pretty awesome! It was my first time eating at a German food place and Berlin Currywurst has made me a fan!

This place is delicious. I get the vegan sausage in a bun with some German fries. Let start off by saying that the service here is always so friendly and great. Every single time I’ve come, I’ve walked away very happy with the service. The sauerkraut and onions with that added heat just pushes this sausage over the top. Throw some mustard on there and you are in heaven. Also more brownie points for offering Virgil’s Root Beer! Always looking forward to visiting.

Located in the heart of Grand Central Market, Berlin Currywurst faces tough competition from the other food stands that are in the same area. However, they do already have a good name for themselves, so I decided to stop by and try it! I ordered the breakfast sandwich which consisted of a sausage in a large bun(similar to the bread you get at the Mexican Market) with sunny side up egg, onions, and sauerkraut. Although the bun was a little too big and there was too much bread to meat ratio, the sausage was amazing. The meat was super juicy and flavorful, and I ended up just eating the sausage on its own with the egg. The sandwich overall was enjoyable, and I am glad I decided to try this place! The cashier was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. I will be back to try the other sausages sometime!

Ate here on my first stop at the Grand Central market. It’s a really small but fascinating German spot with lots to choose from. Since I was already full that day, I chose to go with the renowned roasted potatoes — they’re delectable!

I loveeeeeeeeeeee wurst and I love curry! I mean it doesn’t get any better! The line at EggSlut was ridiculous so my friend and I came here instead. Great call! I ordered the paprika sausage and it came with half a loaf of bread. The sausage skin is crunchy on the outside and inside was juicy with a little kick of spice. Perfect! I will say its a little bit on the pricier side but it was good! I will be back soon!

I’ve learned of Berlin Currywurst from the Silver Lake location. This one’s located inside Grand Central. I ordered sausage with curry, level 6. Level 4 is the highest heat, but it can make level 6. I sat down at a table waiting for my colleagues. The staff was kind enough to bring my food to my table.

Definitely not the same as eating currywurst as you stroll down a nice street in Germany and breathe European air, but it comes pretty close. I tried just their basic currywurst, and it tasted almost as good as the first time I had it in Germany. For those unfamiliar with the food, it’s basically a bratwurst in curry flavored ketchup/sauce, with more curry powder on top. You can’t miss the curry flavor, so if you’re not a fan of curry, this probably isn’t for you. Size-wise it makes for a good snack, but it’s a little more on the pricey side for just a snack. I think my order of one sausage came out to about 7 dollars. While I wouldn’t be here often, I think it’s nice to know that I can get good currywurst here in the States.

Had a great to go lunch here with the family. Bought our sausages from grand central market and took a walk to the nearest park and ate under the beautiful LA sunshine. PAPRIKACURRYWURST Spicy, tangy, flavorful sausage in an excellent sauce. GERMANFRIES I guess the grilled onions made these german? Good stuff regardless. Auf Wiedersehen!

I came to the Grand Central Market and wanted to try something different, so I decided to head to this little stand next to the GINORMOUS line for Eggslut. I have a huge thing for accents and languages. The guy and the woman helping me, I could’ve listened to them all day. Their German accents were awesome. They were pretty helpful in helping me decide what the choose. I’m not very well-versed in German food. So some of the words on their menu, I had zero freaking idea what they meant. I love everything with eggs. I didn’t want to eat a sausage because I wanted to try something new. They recommended that I should try the Leberkäse(the number 3 on the menu) with some fries. It’s a sandwich with an egg, onions, sauerkraut, and Leberkäse. And I’m like… leber-whaaat? They explained to me that it is a German meatloaf. I should’ve asked how they cooked the egg because I was imagining my this nice over-easy or over-medium type of egg where they yolk will spill into the sandwich, instead I got a very well-done egg. The leberkäse was good, it was a tad salty. The sauerkraut was lacking it’s vinegar taste. If the sauerkraut was better, it would’ve paired well with the salty leberkäse. Overall it was a decent German sammich.

Sometimes I like to sample and share something from an eatery versus go all in and order one for everybody. We shared a breakfast sausage $ 8, meaning they added an egg to the top. Chose the«Chicken Cilantro» sausage, oh why, oh no, oh bet you can’t find one of those in Berlin. I don’t know if it’s my fault for ordering it or their fault for offering it. Either way it was only an OK sausage, on a very good piece of bread with decent warm sauerkraut and ok sauteed onions. A bigger let down was the fries $ 4. They are served in a boat one fry deep. I’ve never seen a sadder, smaller portion of spuds. I wanted to ask if this was the standard order or did I get ripped accidentally. I figured the cook put that portion in the boat and the server gave them to me, everything must have looked right… TOTHEM. The two ladies at the counter were friendly and one asked if everything was ok, but sometimes you just don’t want to complain because then you are the sausage! So this was a miss and hopefully the next guy won’t make our same mistakes.

This place is the wurst.(See what I did there?) By which I mean it’s pretty cool. The Italians make a pretty mean sausage but no one can quite handle a foot-long like the Germans. Add to that some curry with a kick, and you’ve got a winner. When I ordered the attractive teutonic guy at the counter asked me if I like it hot. Yes sir, I like it habanero hot. And I had a great time. The«German-style» fries on the side were thick-cut and well-hung with just the right amount of skin. My only complaint was that the included bread seemed a bit stale. And I like my white bread fresh. Summary: Hot sausage.

A native Berliner reviewing a Currywurst stand in LA — and trust me, I’d love to give this little business some more credit as the idea of bringing original Berlin Currywurst to LA deserves 5 stars, let alone the use of the Berlin bear, the logo of the city. Currywurst originated from Berlin, invented by Herta Heuwer in the late 1940’s. It’s basically a slightly fried pork sausage, topped with a special ketchup(the secret sauce!) and curry flavor. Sounds simple, but it’s soooo good. At the Berlin Currywurst stand in the Grand Central Market you’ll get a decent tasting Currywurst either on a paper plate(original) or in a bun(American). You can add fries(original) or Sauerkraut(American). But folks, $ 6 for one small Currywurst?! You gotta be kidding me. This is street food. It’s like selling a taco for $ 5 just because it’s from Mexico. Also, $ 4 for a super small side of Sauerkraut is nothing but ridiculous. After paying $ 11 for a tiny Currywurst and a spoon of Sauerkraut my stomach felt as empty as before and I queued up at the Thai stand to get a plate of fried rice. Wow. I just paid $ 20 for my lunch.

My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review and it was 5 days ago when I tried the place out. It was a light snack on our food journey but boy did it pack punches. Noernberger currywurst with ghost peppers. Man oh man were we crying tears of joy and pain. It is what it is. Don’t expect something fancy because it’s downright dirty. ANDTHAT’S OKAY. Because sometimes we need a little excitement in our lives outside of the clean cut and dry. It was spicy, it was flavorful, and the bread made everything just right.

Enjoyed my experience trying German sausage here. Needless to say the food is just DELICIOUS. I can’t believe I never tried German cuisine like this before, it’s SO good. I didn’t order the typical bratwurst or sauerkraut here on a bun, instead I decided to go with the cut slices of currywurst sausage meat that was wonderfully served with half a side of french bread. Mmm’ the sauce was the best part of the dish, super flavorful, with a garlic taste & a cayenne level heat to it. The size is great to share too if you want something small to grub to save room & try other GCM eateries. There is a good amount of wurst to choose from(about 10), even a tofuwurst for your meatless lovers! Love to come back again & try out their breakfast here one day!

I have heard good things about this place and finally made my way over to GCM this past Sunday. I originally wanted to eat eggslut, but so did about a hundred other people. Im glad I made the decision to eat here instead. My friend and I both got the paprika currywurst with some fries and sauerkraut on the side. The cashier was very funny, friendly and helpful and he told us what was good and popular. I’m not normally a huge fan of sausage but the currywurst was amazingly good, very flavorful but not overly salty as many processed meats can be. Despite the relatively small looking portions the sausage was very filling. The sauerkraut was very refreshing and the fries were perfect. Please serve beer! We ended up grabbing a pint at another stand to go with our meal and it definitely made the experience that much better. Well done.

Fantastic sausage. Fan. Tastic. Berlin Currywurst was the very first thing that caught my eye in the marketplace, and am I glad it did. Nice looking place, little stools as well. Kaese sausage in a bun with hot cayenne, sauerkraut, onion and fries with Virgil’s root beer. The sausage snaps, exactly what you want. It was a taste of heaven. The jalapeño and cheese in the sausage were the right amount, meanwhile the beef worked perfectly in the sausage. The sauerkraut was also good and the onion was very tame. The fries were very nice and crispy as well. The root beer was veeeeery sweet. Sausage enthusiasts need to make a stop here!

I’m beginning to wonder if the jury duty system was created to help populate Downtown LA during daylight hours. Here I was shuffling around GCM with dozens of other tagged goobers, thinking to myself that no egg between two pieces of bread is worth waiting over 30 minutes to get. Sidle up to Currywurst and see the Bauernpfanne Sausage Hash — any sausage sliced up with sunny side egg, roasted potatoes, onions/sauerkraut. When I went to order and sounded very affirmative in wanting it spicy, I was offered super duper extra spicy, which I took, and boy was it on fire! Loved every bite. Hope to get back soon, but if not, see you in about two years!(I voted.)

One thing I miss about Chicago are their bratwurst especially during the cold season. I found this place by accident while wondering Grand Central Market. There was no wait at the time so decided to give it a go. As I approached the cashier, he directed me to their chalk board menu. It was pretty basic, even had a number configuration in case those like myself get lost. Ordered brat on a bun filled with sauerkraut. Normally it is accompanied with onions but since I’m not a fan told them minus the onions. Also ordered a side of fries which was quite good, crispy and seasoned just right. Although I found it odd all they had to drink was diet cola, water, and some other bottled drink. Moments later after nearly finishing my fries, the brat was served to me at the counter. The proportion was pretty big, even the bun that it come with was allot. The sausage was okay, liked that they sprinkled paprika over it, nice touch. I can’t say it was the best brat ever had but it wasn’t bad. The service was good, very cool peeps working at this spot. This would actually go well with beer which I missed to overlook. At the end it was good and would give it another try.
