Some people must really hate their jobs. Be happy you have one in this ecomnomy. I was in the market for new make up. I walked into the store and there were two customers who were already being hleped. A salesperson came up to me and had a look like«what do you want cause i have better things to do» look. JEEZ! I told her that I was new to Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals and wanted to get introduced to the products. She flatly and with a tone of irritation said«ok». I told her i wasn’t sure what color I was as it’s hard to tell from the online swatches and there are so many options. During this entire time, no routine probing questions were asked such as «what’s your normal make up routine», «do you have any make up on right now», «what are your concerns or areas of concern», «do you break out, have sensitive skin», etc… Since she seemed so disinterested, I didn’t want to spend another moment in there. I asked her if it was possible to get a sample to see how my skins reacts. She walked away and gave me a sample. She didn’t look at me to see what color I would be, no test. NOTHING! She didn’t show me how to use it or anything, even though you can go on their website, it’s helpful to have someone show you on your face. Look, half the battle was done for you, a customer came in. Now it’s your job, for which you get paid for, to help that person. What a concept! Needless to say, I will not be going back there. One bad apple spoiled the bunch!

I want to name names because I think an experience in a specialty store like this one is totally dependent on customer service. Most of the people walking through the door already use and like Bare Minerals. For a sales rep it should be a piece of cake to make a sale, no? I have used Bare Minerals for over 5 years and was looking for a lavender eyeshadow that wasn’t purple, but was smokey, subtle and not too dark for every day. I walked in and Sheresha was the closest sales associate I saw so I asked for her help. She seemed like she was pissed right off the bat. Since the other guy sales associate was with someone else, she was my only choice. I described what I was looking for and she started pulling out all these purple shades. I stated again that I did not want purple. Also, I asked if she could do a color match for my base powder which I was almost out of. I’ll get back to that story in a minute. She applied a whole face of makeup and the whole time she was talking to me, she sounded flat and uninterested. Then she did my eyes and what a purple nightmare that was!!! Fortunately, the guy sales associate(name?) freed up and came over to listen in. Right away, he suggested a lavender that was perfect! So I got that shadow and the new base powder that was my new match and headed home. I should have gotten a sample of the base. I did a test at home comparing one side of my face with Bare Minerals to Bobbie Brown liquid foundation. I was shocked to see how way too light the Bare Minerals was! When I returned the incorrect powder, Zenja helped me and I can’t say enough good things about her. I got the feeling she was a manager, but I’m not sure. Anyway, she was extremely helpful in helping me to find the right match, of which I took a sample home this time. She also took back the opened base that was the wrong color. So, they may just have a bad apple at this store, who knows. It sounds like from the other reviews that there are some disgrunteled wanna-be-stars that take it out on customers by being snooty or rude or bitchy. It’s not my damn fault your not a ‘super star’ yet!!!

Typical nice sales people until they can’t get you to shell out mega-bucks. Now that is off my chest, I am going to start from the beginning. The person who did my make up, taught me a couple of new tricks. Awesome. She also somehow managed to convince her manager that I wanted to buy every single thing she put on my face. WRONG. When I stood in line to pay for the item I wanted, they asked me if I liked the products and I said something to the effect of, I didn’t really like it because the the whole tapping routine kicks up a lot of powder and clogs my sinuses. She look shocked and then just snapped at me. I was pretty scared but I stood my ground and said I will not buy anything outside of the lipstick I was holding in my hands. I would recommend going here for a try because everyone else I know who uses it seems to like it, and to learn new tricks, but if you don’t have the strongest spine, they will shove products down your throat and that is unprofessional.

This review isn’t about the makeup… It’s about the service I received at this particular store. Maybe it was because it was early, maybe it was just this specific sales girl… but I was about to walk out without daring to spend a penny here even though I was in desperate need to restock my Bare Minerals. This girl was extremely rude, pushy, and tried to force me to buy something I didn’t need. I already racked up almost $ 100 in makeup and brushes and she felt the need to give me the evil eye when I declined her offers. Really? Never had such a bad experience at any Bare Escentuals store before… Other than that, the store was clean, and I mean… all of these stores are identical so what else is there to complain about? Now through the beginning of August, btw, if you spend more than $ 50 you get a free gift(it’s a refillable travel brush).

I stopped by the new BE store at the Century City Mall last night after an early Cinco De Mayo celebration at Pink Taco. I had my mom in tow who is in town visiting. I really just planned to restock my supply, not have a full consult. However one thing led to another and Tamika, who assisted, us ended up treating my mom and I to fantastic service; a full face for me and smoky eyes for my mom. I am never disappointed with the service at a standalone BE store and this was no exception. Tamika was very patient, answered all of my questions and introduced me to a few products that were not a part of my original line-up. Her goal was clearly education and not sales, which I greatly appreciated. I ended buying my usual products and a few more. Mom enjoyed her smoky eyes for the evening, but is not much of a makeup wearer so she decided not to purchase. Great service as usual! I recommend this store to all BE users.

I was in dire… I mean DIRE need for some Bare Escentuals make up. I was out of everything! Mineral Veil, Rev-Upper, and running low on foundation fast! I also needed a new brush. Both of my brushes started getting brittle and the texture was just getting painful while applying. So, I decided to swing by the Century City mall after work and head over to the BE store. I’ve been using the products for about three years now and I always prefer to go to the stand alone stores versus buying from Sephora or on line. Partly because I always have a million questions. Given Sephora carries the same stuff at the same prices, but the BE store has a knowledgeable staff which use the make up consistently. And really just provides wonderful service. The sales girl(sadly I didn’t get her name) I had was super patient as I was asking 8 million questions about the new products, old products, if the company had a recycling program and my brush problem. My brush problem was this — I did go to Sephora and ask about the brushes, because they are pricey, I didn’t want to buy one if I didn’t have to. So their advice was to shampoo the brush every week and they’ll stay«like new» forever. Tried that for two months and my brushes still felt brittle. I think because the sales people at Sephora have to be so familiar with multiple products, it’s tough to really know Bare Escentuals inside and out. When I talked to the gal at BE store she said that you should be cleaning them every two weeks, but the shelf life really is only about two years… which sounded about right to me. Also, the stores have the buy $ 120 worth of product punch cards and get $ 10 off. So, at the end of the day, I saved $ 20(I had two punch cards full) and walked out with some amazing deals.

Great service! I was there a few days ago and they were super friendly and helpful. Willing to try the different shades to determine the correct one for me. They are always open to giving samples of their eyeshadows which actually last a while. I’ll go there again for sure! Its located near the gelson’s parking area. So park Near Gelson and take the escalator up. 3 hrs free parking at Westfield Mall Century City.

This particular location opened a little over 2 weeks ago. It’s so new that the Westfield Century City website doesn’t even have it listed on it’s directory yet! Like other BE stores I’ve seen, this one isn’t really big like Sephora, but their customer service was remarkable. I was helped by Tara, who said she was an attorney on the weekdays and salesperson at BE on the weekend. I found it interesting that a lawyer would be working at BE, but only b/c I’d imagine she would have a lot of casework and no free time. She was really bubbly and listened to my pathetic story about not knowing how to put on make-up. Then she proceeded too ask me questions about what kind of look I was going for and I stared at her dumb-founded. She laughed a little and said that we’d try something light and natural and see if I liked it. After she was done, I stood outside with a handheld mirror to see what I looked like in natural light. I have to say… I was horrified. She did exactly as planned, going with natural, light colors, but I was so not expecting myself to look the way I did. I felt too dolled up. So why 4-stars then? Because of her patience! I was basically a n00b walking into a make-up store with no previous experience other than using a little eyeliner I got from Rite-Aid. Tara helped me a lot and even though I didn’t end up buying anything, she still gave me a free sample and never once tried to guilt me into getting anything. I learned a lot from her about different techniques(though I will probably forget in a short while) and matching my colors. If anyone is curious, I am a medium beige at BE. =]
