the pangea bowl here is incredibly delicious but unfortunately the only size it comes in is as big as the giant landmass that is its namesake and costs about as much($ 15, ouch). so why the 2 stars? three words: crappy customer service. i’ve been here at least 3 times in the last 2 weeks and customer service has been fine, i mean we’re not talking about a 3-star michelin restaurant here, but no real complaints. this most recent time, however, i came in a little before closing(yeah yeah, sue me, i was THAT customer) on a weekday, and the girl working looked like she wanted to murder me. «we close at 5,» she said, glaring. i mean like glaring like she was going to stab me with the utensils she was holding. wow, hello to you too. i look at my watch, knowing full well it wasn’t 5pm yet and hesitantly stammer, «umm i don’t think it’s – » and she cuts me off abruptly with«you’re only allowed to order something to-go.» fine, that was my plan anyways. why would i want to stay here and eat anyway when everyone is just SO pleasant to be around? another customer walks in 30 seconds after me and the same girl helping me audibly sighs, rolls her eyes, and says«OHGREAT.» actually, you know what’s great? the fact that you got 2 more customers who decided to bring their business to you and not another establishment DURINGYOURLISTEDBUSINESSHOURS. the same girl then proceeded to go outside and shoo away 2 more customers who were perusing the menu outside and about to come in and order. i get it girl. you worked a long day and it’s closing time. well guess what? i worked a long day too, and hauled ass to make it to your business before closing time. cry me a freaking river. no actually, don’t, because i don’t have time for your falling tears and eye-rolling and OH GREATs and glares of a thousand daggers, i have more important things to do like watch the real housewives on bravo while eating my pangea bowl that i just bought. burn. backyard bowls, let’s try not make customers feel bad for giving your store business during your listed hours. especially regular customers, who will now become former customers. luckily, i’ve already found a new acai place that actually treats its customers with respect and kindness.

Acai bowls were delicious, small bowl is plenty big enough for a meal. Highly recommend the power bowl if you’re a fan of peanut butter at all. Very filling and very fresh.

Backyard Bowl absolutely hit the craving I have had for something fruity, yet filling since traveling from Boston. I put in a phone call order for four bowls, and they were ready for pick up when we arrived. The fruit toppings were all at peak of freshness and chopped to perfect bitesize pieces. The granola stayed crunchy even though we had it as takeout. The smoothie part of the acai bowl was perfectly creamy, sweet but not too sweet.

Things I’ve learned today: 1.) Backyard Bowls makes a pretty decent acai bowl 2.) Gogi berries taste disgusting(please don’t ever put those on top of my acai bowl ever again — thank you) (For the Berry Bowl… not sure about the others) If you’re looking to cut calories or sugar, be warned that they use juice and not almond or cashew milk. They happily will substitute it for you if you ask. Also their ordering/checkout system is odd to me. You order at one end… and pay at the other… but not until your order is ready. I guess so they can try to upsell you at the last minute with some fancy powder or topping, but when I’m late for work and in a hurry, it’s a pain in the ass and a waste of time.

Backyard Bowls is health lovers paradise! Acai bowls, smoothies, and salads galore! I found this cute little café by accident last weekend when I was running errands in the neighborhood. I asked the cashier what he liked and he recommended the arroz verde bowl. The bowl was delicious, satisfying, and beautifully presented. I ended up saving half of it for later and it was definitely more than enough food. After I ordered I noticed that they serve my favorite coffee from Four Barrel. Forget Blue Bottle next door, order a coffee from Backyard Bowls(it’s much better, I promise). If you love healthy food and friendly service give Backyard Bowls a try!

First time here. It was alright. Shared a berry bowl and one of the oatmeals. Oatmeal was very standard flavor, felt I could have made it similar at home. Berry bowl was cool. But for $ 20 for the pair, I don’t see enough flavor/value in it to return on a regular basis.

A nice place to get a quick, fairly healthy breakfast or lunch if you are craving something sweet. Açai bowls are akin to a frozen yoghurt shop where you only get one kind of yoghurt but it’s mixed in with prearranged, high end toppings. They also sell fruit and nut based protein bars. The portions are actually quite generous for anyone who balks at the prices and the ingredients that you are getting are rather rare, if not expensive. Service is very kind, prompt, and accommodating. They do allow substitutions or omissions if you ask for it. For example, I asked for no peanut butter and they honoured that. Ambiance is lovely. It’s clean, bright, minimalist décor.

DELICIOUSANDFILLING! These bowls were huuuuge. I barely got through 1⁄3rd of the small size bowl. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Inside is small but there is outside seating as well.

Really great quality and delicious flavor combos. I thought the seating area was a little lacking(the hard benches are not really a place where you could chill for hours), but it was clean and open. It was pretty amusing and practical that they have a sound proofed glass area for the workers to use the blenders — although the noise canceling aviation headsets might have been a little overkill… but overall, a very nice place to get some healthy eats!

Backyard Bowls is the place to go to enjoy some great acai bowls! My friend and I tried this place about a month ago and we can not stop craving their bowls ever since! My friend usually gets the berry bowl and I order the Island Bowl. SOGOOD. Only downside is that I live pretty far from here so I can’t enjoy their food as much as I’d like. Other than that, its good. Definitely the spot to go hang with some friends. It is a very clean atmosphere and their interior décor makes you feel comfortable. I’ve been to a few places that served great acai bowls but Backyard Bowls is the best thus far! Only place I’d come to for acai bowls.

I decided to meet a friend for lunch and he recommended we have Acai bowls. He mentioned this being one of the best Acai spots in our area, so of course I was up for the challenge. The place is very clean and spacious. I’ve actually been here twice already and both times we sat outside, where there is plenty of room as well. I decided to order the Power bowl with extra granola and substitute the banana for strawberries. They filled my bowl up with a lot of strawberries, so that was a great move on my part. For the price, i don’t think it was that great but it was pretty good. I still like Ubatuba by my house a little better because it’s cheaper and it taste sweeter. This one wasn’t as sweet but it also tasted healthier than Ubatuba. Overall, I’d recommend it to my friends and I’ll come back to meet my friend for lunch when we want a healthy alternative. OOOO 4 out of 5 Afros

I tried Backyard Bowls for the first time in Santa Barbara and was excited to see its newest location open up in LA! I tried the Island Bowl today, which I enjoyed. The base is made of acai, banana, mango, pineapple juice, and coconut milk. It’s topped off with granola, banana, strawberry, blueberry, coconut shavings, and honey. I shared the large with two other friends and it was the perfect amount. Backyard Bowls is fairly spacious. They have tables both inside and outside.

The acai bowls are amazing. I had the island and power bowl on two separate occasions while visiting LA for work. Seriously, the best acai bowl I’ve ever had. The base was super creamy and totally magical. They pack on the fruit and toppings and the small is friggin’ huge. The bad: I just saw a giant cockroach crawl all over the counter where my bowl just came from. I get that these things happen, but the staff reacted sorta like a bunch of children. I know it’s gross, but their reactions are what made me realize what was happening right in front of me as I was putting a crunchy acai bite in my mouth. The visual was kinda uncool. Whomp whomp :/

Magical little acai bowl place! Super casual spot with an industrial/modern interior– great for a quick lunch. They have 8 acai bowl options — it was impossible to decide because they all looked so good! We ended up going with the Power Bowl and Dragon Bowl. The ratio of ingredients(base, toppings, fruit) was spot on. So much yes at Backyard Bowls!

Thank goodness Backyard Bowls from SB finally opened up in LA! F O O D: Backyard bowls offers 8 different kinds of bowls and many options for«enhancements” – extra toppings and extra things to blend in such as spirulina, protein powder, matcha, etc. This place also offers snacks, other healthy drinks, coffee, juices, oatmeal, chia pudding, etc. I’ve had the Island Bowl and Berry Bowl and I must say, I completely understand the reason why people obsess over Backyard Bowls. The ratio of fruits, granola, to acai is PERFECT. Most of the acai bowls I’ve had always have too little fruit and too little granola – after all, fresh fruits are the most expensive part of the bowl. But Backyard bowls has it all down. The bowls here have PLENTY of fresh fruits – yaaaassss!!! The consistency of the acai is also perfect – very creamy and smooth, almost like frozen yogurt – so delicious! There are plenty of space – indoors and outdoors – to study and do work here(although music does get pretty loud sometimes) and there is also free wifi so I do recommend this place as a casual study/work spot. P A R K I N G: I’ve always park around the block behind the store – never had trouble finding parking and never had to park too far away.

OMG Backyard Bowls is truly magical! I’m so grateful for living in LA and having a plethora of healthy and delicious spots all over the city. I grabbed a quick and shall I say reasonably priced lunch here today! Their acai bowls are priced reaaaalllllyyyyyy well compared to other spots(Beaming, Earth Bar, etc). The menu is very diverse and everything sounds delicious. I like how there are two size options, I got the small and that was more than enough! I forget the name of the bowl… cocoa-something. The base was acai, banana, avocado, spinach and cacoa topped with bee pollen, granola, strawberries, coconut and honey. I will definitely return, this is such a great healthy option!

I saw a fellow Unilocaler check-in at this place and as a lover of acai bowls, I made my way over to check it out. Mid-day on Sunday there were very few people there. I placed my order for the island bowl($ 8.95 + tax) with a base of acai, banana, mango, pineapple juice and coconut milk. It was topped with a hefty portion of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, coconut, honey, and granola. It was good, indeed, but with fruit blended and fresh fruit and granola on top, it’s hard to go wrong. Did I think it was nearly $ 10 good? No. I couldn’t taste the difference between this bowl and the ones for $ 6 at other places. I have to wonder how their $ 14.95 bowl tastes. Given the price and lack of ambiance — it looks pretty sterile inside — this isn’t a place I would venture to time and time again. But it was good to try once. 4 stars for the bowl, 3 stars for the price(should be in the $ 6-$ 7 range similar to the SB prices online), 3 stars for the ambiance

This is a big adding gem to West-Hollywood. Love their industrial and modern decoration. Menu is very big, and you can get most of the combination you want, with those add-on items. I had their smoothie, with a scoop of protein. Everything is plant based(probably except for honey). Nice quality and reasonable price. Not sure if they are organic or not, but at least the ingredients are very fresh. I would like to try their acai bowl next time when I visit the neighborhood.
