Back Door Pub is one of the few true dives left in DTLA. Enter through a back door in the alleyway between Subway and Fogo on 8th, or alternatively find it by going through the front entrance of the Milner Hotel and walking down the hallway. The bar was recently renovated, and it looks great with the addition of a new side room. With probably the cheapest drinks downtown, free popcorn, a nice jukebox, and plenty of seating, Back Door is quickly becoming one of my go-to spots.

Cheap, strong drinks. Tiny and semi-hidden. Friendly and attentive bartenders. Free popcorn! Great place to watch a game if you want to stay far away from the maddening crowd. Not a «scene,» just a great place to be a dipsomaniac.

This is not a gay bar and it certainly isn’t a gem of any kind. This is simply a back room with a bar in it. I’m sure many garages and basements are more inviting than this place. Avoid at all costs.

Fun DTLA dive bar… often jokingly referred to as a «gay bar» because of the name«Back Door Pub». But it’s not really a gay bar, it just has an entrance at the back of the building. Though now that I think about it… the bartender Sam did tell me about a questionable experience at Summer Camp… I digress. This place is sort of dark and old school… you can sit at the bar and chat or get a private booth and be alone in the shadows like a good dive bars… whatever you want.

Great place, it’s a hidden gem in dtla. I did go here because we thought it was a gay bar. It turns out it’s not; but either way we stuck around and thank god we did! They treated us great! And they have great and friendly bartenders. I absolutely will be coming back! And they have very great prices too! Compared to Honeycut next door.

Can’t find cheaper drinks in DTLA and love the touchtunes jukebox. Very sneaky to add in gratuity last time I was there.

Excellent gay bar. It’s not usually my scene, but the welcoming atmosphere keeps it from being one of those over-styled, intimidating spots in WeHo. It’s trendy without being obnoxious, and has an excellent drink selection. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and you’re looking for a gay-friendly hangout.
