Just left Atticus about half an hour ago and it automatically left a great impression on me. Wasn’t very busy at 3pm on Friday. The girl working was really patient and full of suggestions when helping me decide on what drink to get. I opted for an Atticus cold brew with 2% milk and vanilla syrup. You also have the option of caramel or maple syrup. Decently priced at $ 4.15. About average for coffee, cheaper and definitely better than Starbucks. Just the right amount of bitter and sweetness, so I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something sweet but not TOO overpowering. Check in on Unilocal and get a free chocolate chip cookie. Nothing special about the cookie but it was good nonetheless. I don’t discriminate against any cookie. Shop is clean and has a fair amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Bathroom available for customers and parking is fairly easy to find on S Gardener and S Vista street. Residential and free. I really REALLY wanted to try the earl grey pie but maybe another day. I’d come back if I was in the area.

Really cute and yummy mini pies. Perfect size to satisfy your sweet tooth. Also very cute to pick an assortment and bring to a potluck. My favorites are the earl grey and pistachio. The rest were just ok. I didn’t like the cookie ice cream sandwich. The nutella ice cream tasted like plain chocolate… no hints of hazelnut. And the ice cream hardened the cookie so much that it was hard to bite. Not sure if they thought this one through. Their customer service is inconsistent. The first time I came, I was greeted right away, offered ice cream samples, offered a free cookie for check-in and just overall well-taken care of. 2nd time I came… ehhhh not so much.

The pies were good, not as good as the Pie Hole but acceptable. They were more like tarts than pies in my opinion. I was extremely put off by the shadiness of the cashier. I came in with a Groupon worth $ 20. While I was deciding what to get I asked him about the prices. He told me the cheesecake ones were $ 5.65 and the rest were $ 5.25(as per the menu). I got three $ 5.25 pies(Lemon lavender, earl grey, and salted caramel), one $ 5.65 pie(Blackberry cheesecake) and a coffee. The coffee is $ 1 with any pie purchase(supposedly). So he rang me up and told me owed $ 4.47. He then told me the printer was broken so I had to sign on the computer. I had a grouchy toddler with me so I signed for it without doing the math because I wanted to get out of there. I emailed myself an electronic copy of the receipt. When I got back to the car, I realized he’d charged me for four cheesecake pies, which were at the higher price point. He even overcharged me for the damn coffee. Being the Asian person that I am(ha-ha), I went back and told him I was overcharged. He started off by playing dumb, saying that ALL pies are $ 5.65.(Lie#1) Totally caught off guard, I pointed at the menu and said, «.but that’s not what the menu says.» Not to mentioned he had verbally told me the prices earlier right before I ordered. Anyway, so then he said, «o, those are the old prices, they haven’t changed that in like, a year.»(Lie#2) I took a stab at it again, he proceeded to tell me that the price difference was just the sales tax(Lie#3). At this point I was just like dude, you’re messing with the wrong person because not only can I read and do simple math, I’m also a CPA. Super irritated, I told him he had charged me for four raspberry cheesecake pies, which were not the items I’d purchased; and if he could just ring me up for what I actually ordered?!! Finally he decided to stop with the lies and started processing the refund. Was he embarrassed? Probably. Remorseful? Probably not. All that said, I’m not even sure if the refund was processed properly because again he did not offer me a printed receipt; when I’d ask for an electronic copy of the refund, he said«it won’t give me a receipt because it’s a refund…» WHAT!!! I have never heard of such a thing before. I knew that was probably another lie but left anyway. So that was ten minutes of my life I would never get back. In my mind I could hear my husband going, «all this for like, what, three bucks?!» But it was the principle of the matter! *shakes fist*

Best tasting coffee with no after taste! Delicious pies(we tried the Mango pie and apple pie) Great and generous service! I’ll be coming here more often!

Nice woman working there, but the iced coffee was amongst the worst I’ve had. Although they pie presentation was beautiful, their flavor had a heavy sugar imbalance. The cheesecake did not taste like cheesecake, just dense sugar paste. The ice cream cookie sandwich was difficult to eat because the cookies were hard and the ice cream was bland. I won’t be back, even though their products are beautiful, and hand-crafted, they’re simply not good.

Why did the pie go to the dentist? TOGET A FILLING. HAHA. HA. HA? Ok, no more dentist and pie jokes… *sigh* Good thing I never became a comedian. :The 3.14159: Two pies, two ice cream flavors so it’s what they call the a la mode. Paid around $ 18 total. +EARLGREY $ 5.25: Made with Earl Grey mousse and bottom filled chocolate ganache, topped with light cream and callebaut chocolate pieces. Probably liked this more than the raspberry surprisingly. It had a good mix of earl grey and chocolate where both were equally strong. +RASPBERRY $ 5.65: Filled with raspberry cheesecake and bottom filled with chocolate ganache, topped with light cream and real raspberries. A little too sweet for my liking(and i LOVE sweets) +HONEYHONEYCOMB: GETTHIS. You WONT regret it! AMAZING blast of honey flavor, not too sweet where I would cringe. +BERRY: Mix of three types of berry, correct me if i’m wrong– strawberry, blueberry, raspberry. pretty fruity and good! :Parking/Service/Atmosphere: Parking was horrible as always in DTLA. They have a small parking lot but only fits 2 – 3 cars. Luckily we found street parking 2 blocks down. Service was pretty good. It was pretty much order at counter, pick up, find table, sit down. But the cashier was friendly and patient with recommendations. FREEPIESAMPLESAYCE. LOL jk not AYCE, but they have a huge selection of samples to try prior to buying. Atmosphere had a chill hipster feel to it. Two high tables, one long bench, and one small table to the side.

I been here twice both times I’ve had a good experience this time I had the lavender lemon ice cream it was amazing … It’s really more lavender tasting than lemon. Some might think they are eating soap but I enjoyed it quite a bit! If you like lavender you will enjoy it! We bought 4 pies earl grey, coconut banana cream, pistachio strawberry and mango pineapple. They were all very tasty, but my favorite was the coconut banana cream that was delicious! The only drawback to this place is parking. It’s has a very small parking lot. Other than that everything is pieawesome!

I have been to all of the area ice cream places and besides MILK, which I love,(but love my time more than to waste it on those excruciating lines), the rest of them leave me cold. Nice pun that. Except Atticus. Great variety of flavors, Sweet Corn, Honey Honeycomb are crave-worthy and you can chase them with one of their amazing tarts.(Yeah, they call them pies, but unless it’s your dollies eating them, they’re tarts). No matter. Love them.

I am a total coffee snob, especially coming from Australia where the coffee is like nectar of the Gods. I dropped into Atticus because it was brand new and looked super interesting plus the name reminds me of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ so why not? I ordered an Almond Milk Latte(nothing fancy) and also was able to try a sample of the Strawberry Cheesecake and also this crazy good caramel gelato. Aside from these being delicious… The Coffee OMIGOD the COFFEE is incredible! I couldn’t believe how great it was, especially coming from LA. I will definitely be back and bringing all my coffee snob friends! Good job Atticus, pat on the back for you.

Rating: 3.5 Pie’s galore! Don’t let the pie display fool you! On the day I went there were only three types of pies left, I thought they were probably going to sell out by the time I got up to the cashier but the worker informed me they have all the flavor in the back which was totally music to my ears! I purchased the lemon/lavender and early grey pie. Depending on which one you get, prices are between $ 5-$ 6 per pie. Lemon/Lavender: I am a lavender fanatic so I naturally gravitated to it. However, I was a little hesitant due to the lemon flavor because I envisioned it to be really tart. To my surprised, both flavors when combined together created a good balance and it was not too sweet which I was happy about. Earl Grey: I also love the flavor of earl grey so I had to purchase this one as well. It was rich, decadant, and was worth a whole lot of calories but I don’t regret eating it one bit! Service: This aspect was the true reason why I rated this place so low. On the day I went in there was only one person on the shift and there was already a line that formed when I got there. I stood in line for a good 10 – 15 minutes to put in my order. Shortly after I got there, there was a family that came in behind me that ultimately left because it was just taking too long. It was not completely the workers fault because the two customers before me were taking their sweet a** time sampling every ice cream flavor you can think of. However, the worker could of been more efficient by telling them to think about it and take my order first. Final Verdict: I love their pies but they need to get their act together in terms of service. (Picture:early grey & mango because worker gave me the wrong pie initially)

Such a cute place for coffee and desserts including pies and ice cream! Yum! I’ve had the Oreo cheesecake pie and it’s simply delicious. My favorite ice cream flavor here is the milk + cereal! So good! Almost all the flavors I’ve tried are pretty good actually. There’s only a few parking spots on the lot but if you drive around you can find some street parking.

One of my favorite new ice cream and pie places! I am obsessed with not only how superb the service is, but just how AMAZING everything tastes here. Absolutely not a lover of pie, I really loved the chocolate peanut butter pie here, so rich and creamy! The ice cream is again, made in house with high quality ingredients, I am in love with their strawberry, a flavor usually to bland for me to bother to get or even sample. My son chose strawberry and having one bite I had to get my own, SO good! They have a nice selection of ice cream, cookies and pies, all prices fairly. They even have a tiny parking lot, free and easy parking in this area of 3rd st? Unheard of! Can’t wait to be back, I wish them all the best at their new location here, love this place!

Pretty good place to stop at for a small sweet treat. Came here for a Unilocal event and enjoyed the tastings of pies and ice cream. My favorite… the mango and blueberry cheesecake pies. Yum! The good thing is they come in mini size, just enough to fix your sweet craving. Try one of their unique flavors of ice cream on a waffle cone as well. Some of them are a bit too sweet for my taste, but I enjoyed the Nutella Ferrara Roche(sp) and Apple Pie ice cream. Thanks to the excellent customer service, I’ll be back if I’m in the area!

I’m not really a sweets person, but damnnnn. Cute little place hidden on 3rd by the Grove. It’s easy to overlook, but it definitely should not be. Sampled a couple of their pies that were heavenly. Not usually a pie person but if I were to eat some, this is what I’d be looking for! Ice cream however I will actively seek out, and this place has some really impressive flavors. A double scoop in a cone was roughly the size of my head, so if you’re not feeling gluttonous, maybe stick to one… You can tell it’s very fresh and made with solid ingredients. Didn’t have a chance to try any, but they also do coffee and tea.

Really cute shop with pies, cookies and ice cream. I stopped by around 8 pm on a Monday and their case looked pretty empty but I was able to get the Earl Grey, which was the one I wanted to try. They also offered a few samples of the pies, which is nice so you don’t end up ordering a whole one and not liking it. The filling was velvety smooth and the crust soft. It reminded me of the earl grey pie from pie hole. I also tried two of their ice cream flavors, the cereal and milk and the chocoalte pretzel brittle. I ended up odering one scoop of the chocolate pretzel and it was a huge scoop! The flavor was really different, sweet from the chocolate with a hint of saltiness from the pretzel. I recommend this flavor if you want something a little sweet and salty. Overall, a really cute spot to get some dessert!

I used my Groupon here on a Sunday morning but the place was barren, and the employee said the people who closed the night before had left a mess of things; for example, there were quite a few pies that had to be thrown out because the refrigerator was not plugged in. Strange how this is allowed to happen in a business like this. We were basically only able to get 4 things from my $ 20 groupon, so we got two pies(Earl Grey and Blueberry Cheesecake), an Nutella Ferrero Rocher ice cream in a Korean brioche bun(only because cookies were not available), and the Sober Man’s Guinness Because of the awkward atmosphere and the fact that they didn’t have many of the things I wanted available, the experience wasn’t too satisfying. I was very happy with the pies but not my other two choices; I felt so gross eating the weirdly textured Korean brioche bun. It’s not even advertised on the menu so no one will believe me! :(The Sober Man’s Guinness was like drinking carbonated black coffee; it was weird and gross. I guess I like my coffee with cream and sugar. I give it 4 stars because the employee’s customer service and attentiveness was great. Even though his coworkers left him a mess to clean up, he was still very hospitable and humble. Btw, buy 4 pies and you get 5% off. At $ 5 a pie, you only save $ 1 by buying 4. Perhaps I’ll come back because the pies are so delicious and not heavy at all!

Came here with a groupon deal and had $ 20 to use up. We got here around 9pm on a Friday evening and the display cases were very empty but I am assuming it is due to the fact that they just opened this location not too long ago. When we got in, we were offered many different samples of the various pies they had and after tasting, we opted to have the blackberry cheesecake(and we got the last one). We also got a mango and earl grey pies to take home and the employee was nice enough to offer to keep it in the fridge while we enjoyed our cheesecake in the store. We also got a single scoop(which was massive) of milk cereal ice cream which had pieces of rice krispy treat mixed in a milk ice cream base. The 3 pies and ice cream added up to $ 20.55 which was perfect! Besides the lack of options, everything else was good. Oh… and you can pass on the cookie. Not good at all.

I’m a fan of Atticus! Stopped in for dessert on a Friday night and it was great! Parking was my only gripe. Only about 5 cars can fit in the little lot and street parking is tough like most 3rd St businesses. We ordered one mango pie. The dessert itself wasn’t overly sweet. Just right for my liking. It reminded me of growing up and eating mango pudding at dim sum restaurants. The tart was buttery, there was a thin layer of mango jelly filling, the custard was smooth and both fluid yet firm, and the whipped cream was fluffy and not terribly sweet. Also ordered two scoops of ice cream, which are very generous! The flavors were pretty basic, double cookies, vanilla, macchiato, and more. They were super creamy yet not too sweet as well. I look forward to stopping by again a definitely prefer Atticus over Milk. If there aren’t pies in the window case, don’t fret, there are more in the back, just ask for the desired flavor and wait a bit for it to be soft enough to eat. Looking forward to try other pies!
