GOOOOD burger!(Avocado burger with cheese) delicious fries! CHEAPAF! I think the most expensive thing on the menu is $ 7.50. A small hole in the wall with good cheap food. If u wrk, attend school or hv to visit the hospital(LAC+USC) it’s worth a try! I

Good breakfast burrito. Inexpensive. Fast and friendly service. And they won’t charge you for parking if you’re eating there. That’s a huge plus in this area. Smart choice to grab a quick bite.

Art’s is a landmark. It has been here forever. It is not a coffee shop in the traditional sense of the word. But, the Mexican food is outstanding. Very yummy soft tacos and burritos! Love the Taquito combination plate.

I tried the fish tacos. Wouldn’t recommend them at all. Over cooked and fish was in pieces. No fish taco sauce as you would typically expect. Also, not a real coffee shop. They should really think about changing the name. Still leaving my 4 star rating just because the carne asada is so good.

This«Coffee shop» can’t actually make coffee. I ordered an iced coffee and the woman proceeded to pour a carton of packaged«iced coffee» into a cup of ice. It cost $ 2 and tastes like oversweetened chocolate milk without any resemblance of coffee. Seriously, don’t bother. Their food might be ok based on other reviews I’ve read, but their coffee is… literally from a carton.

Art’s Coffee Shop is definitely SHACKTASTIC! This unassuming shack serves more than coffee so don’t let the name fool you. Breakfast burritos and breakfast plates… they got it! Burritos(just meat or with all the fixings)…they got it. Tacos and Tortas… they got it. Gorditas…dunno wtf that is but… they got it!!! Nachos and Quesadillas… yup, they got it! Hamburgers…at a Mexican joint? YUP, THEYGOTIT!!! BEERS and WINE… what? they got a liquor license? NOIDEA but they got it!!! Art’s is located right across the street from the Health Science Campus of USC. IT’S PAINTEDYELLOW so you can’t miss it! It might not look like much from the outside but they got an A rating, the food is DELICIOUS, and it’s CHEAP! NOT reasonably priced… CHEAP!!! They even have their own lot so picking up food is easy. It’s a TAKEOUT kinda place but they have a few tables if you want to dine in and impress a date(JK). They even TAKECREDITCARDS! Mind = Blown!!!

I’ve walked and driven past this place many of times and it’s taken me about 2 years to finally give it a try. No reason not too in the beginning, just always slipped my mind. My co-worker and I stopped in for lunch yesterday and were pretty pleased with our experience. Aside from the construction going on almost right outside the door, it was a good visit, and not the shops fault. I got the chicken gordita and she got the 3 chicken enchiladas a la carte in red sauce. My gordita was fresh, homemade and perfectly portioned. Reminded me of something my Grandmother would make us. Taste was on point, the chicken was super flavorful and nice big chunks. The red chili they give you on the side with chips was very good. Co-worker like her enchiladas, Same type of chicken and loaded with cheese. Four our two meals and two sodas our tab was about 11.00 Not to shabby since a wack little salad from the seaver café will run you about 7. The two ladies behind the counter are the cooks, bussers and cashiers and definitely work their behinds off. I dropped a 5 in the tip jar, they definitely deserved more. Looks like you can call in a to go order which is good to know. I picked up a few menus for the office hoping to bring them some more business.

What a cute little hole-in-the-wall, family owned eatery! My co-worker first got me to try their nachos(take-out) and I was in love… The price is right and the portions are healthy(I said healthy, not obese-American style). They serve everything from burgers, hot dogs, subs & wings too delicious homemade Mexican fair like tacos and nachos. Ohhh yeah, and cerveza! This is an eclectic little spot with an eclectic mix of food… I suggest giving it a go if you are ever at teh HSC campus or hospital.

After reading Unilocal and being in the area I stopped in to try a breakfast burrito. Very good I hate to sound like a pig… I ate the whole thing! Everything was cooked to order and fresh. I will be back to try the carne asada and a few other items from the menu.

Never would have came to this little shop had it not been for my younger sister going to review sessions at the USC pharmacy campus. Arts coffee shop? really? It could not be further from the actual description of this place. When I think of Arts coffee shop I think of coffee, donuts, bear claws, etc… needless to say its not a coffee shop. Its a mexican breakfast joint! The breakfast burritos are to DIEFOR… The lady makes the food fresh, so it takes a while. minus 1 star, the lady isnt the most friendly…

One of the hidden spots near county hospital/USC health sciences other than the usual fast food chains. GOOD Mexican food for cheap! I like the shrimp burrito and the chicken burrito. The fish burrito isn’t that good in my opinion. Ate here quite often during second year of med school. If you are very short on time, you can call in an order in advance for pickup.

Decent cheap Mexican food made by two ladies. Well, really one lady. I think the other lady just takes orders and sits around. Since I’ve only seen one actually make the food. They also serve burgers and fries and fried chicken. Had the machaca burrito. $ 5. Oh man, was that huge. Definitely couldn’t finish it by myself. Oh and did I mention it was cheap. Great place to go if you are in that part of County/USC hospital, since it’s the backside, closer to the Norris Cancer center and med school.

When you’re watching a loved one in the hospital, you want to do anything to make them feel better. Hospital food sucks. The sweet lady at Art’s Coffee Shop saved the day! We got the fish tacos and a carne asada burrito, which were both delicious. The chips were not so great. But good food leads to feeling better and a speedier hospital discharge! They close at 5 on weekdays, but they take phone orders. The lady was so sweet, she said if I didn’t have cash I could pay her tomorrow. Who does that? Loved it.

Arts Coffee Shop? This is as homemade as it gets. Home made mexican with great taste. We stopped for coffee but ended up eating tacos for breakfast. Tacos with chicharon. Yum! They also have Machaca and al the other regular dishes. The big bonus is that this place SERVESBEER! If I was in the area, I would eat here again. They do have coffee, and it’s good. They brew it with a regular old coffee maker. one cup at a time.

I usually go here during lunch because USC’s seaver café serves pathetic excuses for food at ridiculous prices. I love that they call it a coffee shop, you’re more likely to find champurrado and pan dulce here than coffee! Anyway, the food is delicious. I’ve only had the quesadillas(super cheesy and slightly crunchy on the outside) and tacos(very tender juicy asada… makes your mouth water), but those were enough to keep me coming back for more. They have a huge menu, someday I might try something new.

Art’s Coffee Shop isn’t a coffee shop at all and, trust me, Art ain’t here. It is a bare-bones and basic Mexican taco stand run by an abuelita and a middle-aged woman(her daughter perhaps?) who serve BARNONE! THEBESTFISHTACOS I’VEEVERENCOUNTERED.* (*at least on this side of the border.) Yes, I know the quest for the perfect fish taco has gone from Silver Lake to Pasadena to Downtown to(gasp!) «the valley» and back again. I’ve read the reviews here on Unilocal*extolling the virtues of the various and sundry reviewers’ favorites. Please allow me to present a new contender to the fray. I’ve spent a cumulative total of about 2 weeks as an in-patient at USC and I’m facing a bunch more days at the hospital before this is over. Let’s dispense with the obvious question from the outset: the food at the hospital is beyond vile. Victoria brought me McDonalds, Subway, etc. to supplement, but the day she brought the fish taco was a day that will live in infamy. We’d passed Art’s Coffee Shop a few times. It’s dinky and plain. Located right across the street from LAC+USC, I think it’s literally no larger than 12′ X 12′. Inside, to the left is the grill, to the right a few formica tables and red plastic chairs. In between are whitewashed walls and on one is posted the menu. The menu is huge and offers a variety of tacos, tortas, gorditas and burritos. It even lists a few«exotics» like chile rellenos, chile verde and such. It looked like a place I might want to try. I like divey Mexican joints. They serve one helluva fish taco! It comes on two five-inch corn tortillas. The mild fish is grilled… not deep fried or battered. It is FAT with vegetables like tomato, cabbage, cilantro and what all. When you pick it up, bite fast because it will fall apart. These things are definitely messy eating. You can either scoop up the remaining bits with your fingers or reach for one of the plastic forks from the baskets nearby. Maybe you should get a few paper napkins too. There aren’t any exotic ingredients. It really doesn’t look like anything special. All I can figure is, these ladies have found the PERFECT ratio of all the ingredients to one another, something magical happens and with each and every one of these they serve, the planets all line up and smile. Hot carrots are free. In addition to my fish taco today, I ordered a tamale and it was terribly bland so don’t bother to order tamales. The chips are nothing special either. The green salsa, however, is muy sabroso! UPDATE2÷06÷08; Carne Asada Burrito: Filled with tender spiced beef and tasty beans. Comes also wih rice but I don’t like rice in a burrito so I asked for it to be left out. The burrito could have used a little guac. but was still Oh, So delicious! Dump in a little of the green salsa and you’ll never miss the guac. El Pastor Burrito: OMG! The bomb. Leave out the rice, it doesn’t need it. Spectacular. Pescado Burrito: Somehow the rice and beans take away from the mild fish. Get the tacos instead.

Even though it’s called Art’s Coffee Shop, it is actually a tiny Mexican place. To be honest, I have only had the carne asada burrito with everything but onions on it so I am basing my review on that burrito and the service. The burrito was really good. It was only a little over $ 4 and it was well worth it because it ended up being two meals for me. They also give you this little thing of hot sauce which was very tasty. The place is teeny-tiny. There are a few tables but mostly people take the food to go. You order at the counter. There is usually this elderly woman there who is so super cute. When she’s not there, however, there are two younger girls who work there. One of them is very friendly and cheery. The other one, on the other hand, is kinda rude and her attitude makes it seem like you’re interrupting her day with your intrusive request for a burrito. Aside from having to deal her, the place is good.
