I had always seen signs on the sidewalk advertising«the 606,» what they now call it. However, being an underground joint, I imagined it would be too small, cramped, dark, and dingy. I was wrong! When I curiosity got the best of me, I was pleasantly surprised to see an open, clean, and well-lit café-style room with a delicious menu in front of me. I got a vegetarian Indian-style sub(don’t remember the name on the menu) and it was delicious! Definitely coming back.

I was walking a dog in the area and saw a sign on the street advertising for this place . I don’t see many signs inviting me into a jewelry building’s building for lunch. It piqued my curiosity, so of course I returned after the dog was tuckered out. I ordered a greek salad with grilled chicken to go: The lady who took my order was a bit unpleasant, but she did her job. My salad was delicious when I got back to the loft. The chicken was a little soggy, but it tasted great. The feta cheese melted in my mouth which was refreshing. The oil, vinegar, and spices they tossed my salad with made me not have to use the generic salad dressing they gave me for my salad. I’m probably going to end up craving this concoction of theirs, If you’re in the area and have the time for some greek, I highly recommend going into the basement for this. As a bonus, cell phone reception still exists if you NEED it(4G and all).

new location(acutallt this ISTHE original location back in the 80’s), same bomb-ass sandwiches Ill make this SIMPLE: pay 6 bucks at subway get a shit-filled crappy meat sandwich, or pay 1 – 2 $ more and get premium quality meats and a delish sandwich loaded with meats cheeses and veggies, and fresh. Unlike subway, no extra charge here for any sandwich LOADED with avocado, and I mean oozing out loaded. They always have a lunch special for around 5 bucks you get a gyro and chips/soda. Where the hell in downtown can you get that? If you work/live in downtown L.A. Artos panini sandwiches are pretty much a legend This new location is in a cool basement(hence the name underground; this was actually their first location 25+ years ago) The tables, setup is clean and cool looking A big-screen tv for games/soap operas etc. Menu at each table; they have like a gazillion sandwiches, combos, and salads. For the huge portion you get, 7 – 8 bucks really a steal. And tons of peculiar, hard to find drink options. My fav= #23 corned beef/pastrami=its frikkin loaded. but lately… BESTSANDWICH===PHILLYCHEESESTEAK, made from diced hot roast beef. The best sandwich period anywhere with that pressed baguette toasty.m.m.m… Clean, cheap, good portions, just the way I like em. Their breakfast is too addicting; I try not to eat the simit with cheese like every freakin morning.(round crisp toasted sesame bread roll with melted cheese inside) damn son that shit is good… Cheesecake factory cheesecake slices for desert!!!
