The business name on the building is «Aqua Pura», but the receipt says«Aqua Fresca» & is divided by two services, cell phones & water(that I know of). Parking is usually difficult due to the multiple businesses on the block, unless you use the fairly new NE parking lot in the back. There is a NOPARKING red zone in front of their establishment. A few years ago, I parked there only because there was no where else to park at the time. I was going to run in & out(as the only customer) to either exchange or return a 5 gallon water bottle they sold to me(for refills). The plastic bottle looked okay, but had a horrible stench & made the water(they sell) taste like sewage. I’d only used it once, so was trying to return it the same week I bought it. The young Latino guy behind the counter refused to let me return it and kept giving me a hard time about it, even though I was a regular customer & paid with CASH. He deliberately detained me, refusing to help me or summon the manager(not on sight), just long enough for a cop to give me a parking ticket($ 60). The guy saw this happening the whole time I was trying to return the bottle, so he knew I was getting a ticket & didn’t say anything. He refused to exchange the bottle & laughed at me as I was leaving to move my car. I never went back to buy their water & ended up using the bottle for loose change. A few years pass & I went there to buy & activate a cell phone. The guy, who worked there before, wasn’t there. Instead, two young Latinas were at the counter & there was only one other customer ahead of me, but about to leave. As soon as it was my turn, 3 other Latino customers walked in behind me. Instead of servicing the next person in line, me, they served the other customers first. If I had any doubt about discrimination there before, I surely didn’t now, as I am Caucasian(which is the only reason I bring race up). I looked at them like they were either blind or nuts & didn’t say anything at the time, since the manager/owner was once again, UNAVAILABLE. About a year later, I needed a new battery for my cell phone I’d bought there. They sold me one for about $ 10& when I went to use it(one week later), I found out it didn’t fit my phone, so I couldn’t use it. I went back to exchange it for one that did & they REFUSED to exchange it or let me return it, even though I paid CASH& had a receipt. Once again, the owner/manager was unavailable! At that point I was totally disgusted with this place, the way they treated me and the way they ran business, so I vowed to never go there again. That is, until recently, after just having major foot surgery, I had to go in person to pay my cell-phone bill,(had no one else to help me do it & it was overdue). It was a Saturday, so the line was fairly long & the three fold-up chairs there were being used & played on by young children(n.p.). I was on crutches, so asked(anyone listening) where the end of the line was, as there were two lines. A man in the right line spoke up, so I went behind him. About 30 minutes passed & by this time I was in tears from exhaustion & pain, as my good leg was starting to buckle & hurt from standing so long on it. NOTONEPERSON working there, or otherwise, offered to let me go first(not that I asked) or even offered me a chair. After I paid for my phone, I didn’t even get a thank you, even though every other customer ahead of me(all Latino) did. If this isn’t discrimination, or just plain BADBUSINESS, I don’t know what is. Needless to say, they will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER get my business again, no matter how desperate I am.
