I’m a huge fan of Angolo DiVino! I’ve been fortunate enough to eat here 4 times and each time was wonderful! The first time — which stands out because I had no expectation of what awaited me — I had a burrata and tomato salad. Even though it wasn’t tomato season, the tomatoes were surprisingly good and the portion size was excellent for the price. Next a seafood risotto that was excellent. I’ve had so many bad risotto dishes that I cringe when I order, expecting either undercooked crunchy grains or a soggy flavorless mush. Their risotto was perfectly cooked with strong flavors that brought out the seafood rather than masking it. I’m salivating just thinking back… The pizza is also excellent — thin crust, not smothered in toppings, balanced. I’ve been the last customer in the restaurant on more than one occasion. We tend to be late eaters. They have never rushed, urged, cajoled, brought the check unsolicited. It’s wonderful! I found the prices extremely reasonable. The food was yummier than the prices suggested. Strongly recommended!

You know what they say about location … it doesn’t bode well for a restaurant when both Unilocal reviewers stumble on it by accident. What a find, though. Sarah K and I had just come out of a wine tasting and movie at the Getty, and we were dying for grub. Of all the restaurants in the first strip mall I came across that had easy parking, Angolo DiVino looked the most appealing with its fenced-in patio and candlelit interior — very flattering and romantic. Our charming host and server rolled off the night’s specials and offered us a wine menu, but we took the cheap route, pizza and pasta. We munched on flat bread drenched in herbs, dried cheese and olive and then waited … and waited … and waited. A large group celebrating someone’s graduation(from 8th grade!) looked extremely satisfied with their platters of the lobster special, wine and champagne and desserts. The rest of us could only salivate and wonder when our own plates would be coming(the host was exceedingly gracious, though, and promised us it would be soon). Sarah’s margherita pizza was missing some key ingredients — namely the basil and tomato — and the crust lacked oomph. My pasta, though, was masterful. Some people judge Italian restaurants by the vongele, but my yardstick has always been meat sauces like bolognese that require hours of simmering. The combination of beef and veal truly hit the spot, while the thick al dente noodles also tasted freshly made. The restaurant opened up just this spring, so I don’t know if it was inexperience or the large party that slowed things down tonight. I doubt I’ll be driving across town to seek it out, but the ambience and service warrant a return visit next time I’m in the neighborhood. TIP: Citysearch has coupons for 20% off meals over $ 50 and $ 100.

Found this place by COMPLETE accident. I needed to find a place to eat while getting my oil changed at Jiffy Lube on Santa Monica. Did not realize it was as nice as it was. Even thought I walked in with jeans and a sweatshirt. Boyfriend was in shorts. they were so nice to us. I’ve been looking for some escargot risotto in the los angeles area but still have yet to find any. if you have advice let me know. but let me tell you about the Risotto ai Funghi simply delicious. the truffles and mushrooms just smelled and tasted wonderful. BUT. what’s even better was their Duck Ravioli in truffle sauce special… I am not a fan of raviolis but this changed everything. I’ve been on a mission to check back to see if they’ll ever have this special again. but I have not been successful. It just melts in your mouth and this burst of tender juicy duck just slides right down your throat. I thought raviolis were always stuffed with ricotta cheese. boy was I WRONG. but they did have a roasted chicken ravioli which they made with a cream truffle oil sauce. which came VERY close. so you can try that.
