Bear 4 hair is one of the best stylist Iv ever seen. The salon is Taylor Rose Hair Studio in WEHO. But the customer service is what gives Bear five stars. He is funny, charming, and professional. Def Check him out!

Bear can cut some short hair. I saw his work and decided to step out on faith and trust my hair to a new person and I came to him as I was looking for a new look and boy did I land in the right place. He was so knowledgeable and professional. He now works in Taylor Rose Hair Studio on Sant monica and Fairfax. this location is so perfect near my house, small and comfy it over looks west hollywood with great resturants at its door steps. He gave me a completely new look my husband loved it and thats the biggest compliment anyone could recieve. go check out the best in the West

Derrith is the WORSE hairdresser I’ve ever had work on my hair! I’m a performer in the valley, took a chance on him to try something different… and he completely ruined my thick, healthy hair! My hair is in shambles with less than ¼ «of hair on most of my scalp… I cried for days, but had already paid him… tried reporting him to the Better Business Bureau only to find out he is not even listed! I cannot warn you enough about this salon! Karma… is all that I have to say!

Absolutely never again. This review isn’t about Bear’s hair styling ability because he forced me to leave an hour and a half after my appointment was supposed to start. I will never be able to review his actual hairstyling skills because I will never return. Had an appointment at 10 am on a Saturday. Called 5 to, inquiring whether there were any parking spots in the area that were for longer than 2 hours. Bear’s salon is no longer on Vine but is now on Fairfax and Santa Monica, a heavily metered/permit required parking area. I would have mentioned this to a new customer when they were booking their appointment. Bear didn’t. He also had no real suggestions for parking. He was also running late… okay… Found parking two blocks away and walked to the shop. There were several women sitting around waiting for their turn in the chair. I absolutely loathe when a salon deliberately overbooks. Just because you’re going to be here all day doesn’t mean I want/need to be. At 10:15 Bear strolls in and a woman who had been waiting from before I arrived jumped up and walked to his chair. I can accept that. She had short hair and Bear quickly washed and wrapped her up and a second woman is in his chair before I know what’s what. Now I’m getting aggravated. Its 10:35 and this second woman had walked in with me, saw Bear wasn’t there and left, coming back with coffee and breakfast after Bear arrived. What time was your appointment??? This woman again has short hair and a relaxer is quickly put in it and she’s set aside. Bear finally introduces himself and sits me in his chair. Its 10:45. I’m getting a touchup(texlax) and Bear slowly applies petroleum jelly to protect my scalp. He does this all the while looking at pictures on other clients phones, chatting with the stylist at the next mirror, complaining about being tired etc. What should have been a 5 minute job in sectioning my hair and applying protectant to my scalp takes 10 to 15. I’m finally in the chair so that’s something but I’m getting more annoyed by the second over Bear and the general vibe in the salon which was like a bad movie about an ultra-stereotypical black salon full of dishy stylists and their loud clients. At 11 Bear informs me he needs to rinse out the relaxer of the woman in the chair before me. I expected that. I occupy myself with my phone for a while and look up 15 minutes later and Bear has started washing another woman’s hair, one who has just walked in. WTF? I sit for a few minutes, seething but eventually I’m so livid I gather my things(I had to bring my own hard rollers) and just walked out, hair covered in petroleum jelly, sticking up in every which direction. It was clear to me as a new customer I would be waiting every time a regular strolled in. I didn’t want to risk having to wait around while yet another customer skipped the line while I had relaxer chemicals burning a hole in my scalp. If you have very short hair, have been BFF’s with Bear for the last 10 years and don’t mind siting around all morning I would say take your chances making an appointment with him. After clearly overbooking his morning, being 15 minutes late and giving an obvious preference to his regulars despite my having an appointment, I can honestly say I got my fill of Bear before he even started on my hair.

Just got a hair cut and relaxer from the Bear. It’s HOT!!! The best my hair have looked since I’ve been in LA after years of trying different salons and stylists. My hair is on point, edges lined up, and everything. He gives advice on taking care your hair as well. He also doesn’t over book which I liked. All in all I had a wonderful experience. I love my hair, I just hope I can keep it looking half of beautiful in between treatments.

I have been going to Bear for nearly 10 years now. That should say something about the quality of his work. All I have to do is sit in the chair and a few hours later, my hair has been transformed. Truly, Bear, is an artist. I love you boo boo!

3.5 Stars The women leaving his chair looked really good. All had really cute razor cuts and were on point. If you’re looking for edgy, fun, lined up hair, I’d highly recommend. My only problem is that I don’t quite fit into this niche. I have very long, thick hair and I didn’t get the impression that a relationship would last. He pressed it fine enough, but the whole experience was very«Meh.» Also, I was kept waiting, which is not unusual in ethnic hair salons, but I’m just over it. I work all week and don’t want to spend half of my weekend in a salon, unnecessarily. I’ve found some stylists who don’t keep me waiting. I tip them very well. Now I’m including wait time in my reviews. Here, I had about an hour or so wait. Also, it’s such a cute location. I hope he decorates his salon. Derrith Mitchell is a great stylist… He styled my hair back in the 90’s and it was always on point… Although I am not in his area anymore I will clearly vouch for his work to this very day. If I was in the Hollywood area, Derrith would be a part of my monthly budget as my hair would always be «right» when he works his magic…

If you need to get cut or styled this is the place to be. D cut my hair 25 years ago and I am still happy to see him after all of these years. One of those people that do what it takes to make you happy, you will love how you look when your finished, or he is upset. Give him a try!

Love Derrith aka Bear. He’s professional, and prompt and does exactly what you ask for. I hate that black hair stylists are known for having you in the salon all day long but that isn’t the case with Bear, he has you in and out in a timely fashion and looking fabulous!
