I’m an out of towner attending a conference at LACC. Found this place on Unilocal as I didn’t want to eat in the center. So glad I did! Every table in here is full and with good reason. Prices are reasonable, food is tasty, atmosphere is great(if you’re into hole in the wall establishments). Got a full plate of food plus a plantain and tortillas on the side and a pop for $ 7. Nice! Don’t let the exterior deter you. Awesomeness awaits inside.

My hubby wanted breakfast burrito and this little café came up with awesome reviews. A homey hole in the wall place getting ready for lunch around 10 am. The foot traffic was impressive. The nice owner got up and took our made to order bacon, chorizo, huevos, papas, cebollas, cilantro, and salsa. They were so good. The owner lady even gave some cabbages for pupusas. Definitely will return for pupusas and buffet of awesome home cooked meals. Thank you!

Just got out of the convention center and was starving, so I looked around for something close that wasn’t the same corporate garbage, and saw this coffee shop. My first impression was no, that looks a little scary to me. So l checked my phone for reviews and saw nothing but great ones. Well it didn’t disappoint. This place is truly a hole in the wall, mom and pop, hidden gem. I got the buffet and had grilled sea bass, fried date palm, beans and rice with tortillas. Food is excellent, authentic home style cooking, that I imagined somebody’s grandma was back in back cooking. Cindy the owner is super friendly and will know if it’s your first time there. She will walk you through and explain what all the food is, so you won’t feel like an idiot having to ask, all the while referring to you as «Honey». The food seems to be Central American/Mexican hence the sign. My plate was piled high all for $ 8. The place is small and is only open Monday thru Friday till 2pm.

Wow, buffet style only $ 7! I had chilaquiles, chile relleno, pescado en salsa roja, chayote, papaya y platano Frito. The meal comes with corn or flour tortillas. The owner is welcoming and offers great customer service!

This is seriously my fave spot in South Park. It’s an adorable mom and pop run by Cindi the owner, who calls everyone honey and serves up delicious food with true love. Her portions are gigantic and generous, and the food is delicious. Serving the local working community, she has many regulars — construction workers, security guards, local residents, business people, etc. Come in around lunch and you can totally see why. Delicious home-cooked Mexican food. You can do the buffet lunch for around $ 7 – 10 a plate and heap up your plate as high as you want. Cindi always has three buffet carts full of delicious stewed meats, baked beans, fried fish, fried plantains, steamed veggies, rice, fruit, tamales, roast chicken, spaghetti… you name it! Everything is delicious and really home-made. Your plate comes with two flour or corn tortillas. Cindi also makes a la carte orders like breakfast burritos, tacos, burritos, quesadillas. It’s got everything you could possibly want. Location is truly a hole in the wall. On the corner of hope and 12th(on hope), it’s got a simple front and signboard. Inside is much bigger and homey-er than you would expect from the outside. Just trust me on this one and give it a try. You’ll never go searching around for a great breakfast or lunch spot near Staples again!

Five star rating begins with walking in and being looked after. It was almost like going over to a friends house and their mom wants nothing more than to feed you and make you feel at home. Small place but packs a big punch with its food and flavors. Ordered 3 carne asada tacos with a side of rice and beans and walked away super full and happy!

I used to come at least once a week for their breakfast tacos(which are very good), but after my latest experience I’m not coming back. From the moment I came in there was confusion. I tried to order my usual(2 breakfast tacos — one with asada, cheese, beans and egg and one with bacon, cheese, beans and egg). The man at the register somehow misunderstood me. He thought I did one order of 2 tacos with beans, cheese and egg, which he charged me for and then a separate order that he tried to charge me for again. When I explained the mistake, he started yelling at me saying, no you did two orders you remember. I tried to calmly explain again and my friend backed me up, but he was insistent that I made the mistake. I was forced to take two tacos that I DIDN’T order. He thought he was being generous giving me one of the two tacos I actually wanted for free and refused to make the other even after I offered to pay for it. Gee thanks. You don’t argue with customers like that. You don’t yell at them when you’re the one that made the mistake. I can walk a little further to Fernando’s, get what I paid for and be treated with respect.

This place was really a authentic hidden gem. Love this place! The owner, Cindy was Super sweet! She was very generous with her portions and genuinely caring. The food was amazing!!! You can order from the buffet spread or a la carte. The chicken there was super flavorful and tasty! Prices were very fair. I saw Cindy hook up a homeless man. Cindy is great! Happy Burritoing!

Wow, this place is a gem. My company just moved to downtown, i heard from fellow coworkers that this place was very good. It’s very small but it feels like you just walked in to your moms kitchen. Staff is very welcoming and the food is delicious. I had a chile relleno, a rib, rice and veggies for $ 5.50!!! Great price, great portions. Will definitely be back because I’m told the menu changes daily. The cook is a lady with lots of energy and personality and greets her usual customers by first name. They will accommodate your meal to anything you want, u don’t want cheese? They will customize it for you. I already love this place

Finding a quality place that serves breakfast near the convention center in LA has proved to be difficult. I found that in Aladdin’s Coffee Shop. First of all, this place is very close, maybe a third of a mile from the convention center. Very walkable. It’s appearance is nothing special. Can definitely be considered a hole in the wall. Upon entering the restaurant, I was first greeted by who I think was the owners daughter. She was very friendly and helped me feel at home. The restaurant serves a breakfast buffet or will make breakfast burritos or tacos to order. I went with the sausage burrito and it was very good, very large, and only $ 5. The best part about this restaurant is the community and personality I can tell that this establishment embodies. Customers are encouraged to go up to the counter and pour their own coffee. The owners seem to know their regulars vs first time guests and walk people through the ordering process. Even a long time regular of the restaurant invited me to sit at his table. Truly a small town diner feel packed into the heart of LA. I plan to return to this place again before I head back home because I have yet to find a better breakfast place in this area.

From the outside this place doesn’t look appealing but once you walk in you’re greeted by the NICEST lady(didn’t catch her name), but she calls you sweetie and she comes out from behind the counter to tell you what is in each dish at the buffet, she was awesome. The place is a hole-in-the-wall eatery which caters to everyone in the area, they also do catering. They also have a full service kitchen in case you don’t want to order from the buffet, her cooks will basically make anything you ask for. I opted for the buffet on my first time here, the green chile tamales were bomb and spicy just they way they should be. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside and the meats were also very good, seasoned and had a good taste to them. I’d definitely come back here again.

Walked to this place from a conference at the convention center… hole in the wall with a friendly staff and good breakfast. They have a buffet style breakfast, although you do pay per item you grab. I had a customized breakfast chorizo burrito and it was delicious. The owner and staff were all very outgoing and made sure we were happy. Prices are reasonable, restaurant itself is small with not many tables. Their breakfast definitely beat the conference food!

This is purely based off the food. If I were to give stars for the service and friendliness of the owner alone, that’d be 5 stars. Came in for lunch, and had some pazole and a carne asada taco. Pazole was pretty salty, but, I sort of was need of sodium. Carne asada taco was ok. Meat was a little chewy. They had a bunch of other stuff in their buffet for lunch, I just didn’t partake. May be better than what I had. It’s El Salvadorean and Mexican, if I recall correctly. Total hole in the wall with loyal customers. Lots of construction workers and locals coming in for inexpensive homey food. I hope they are able to make it with rising rents in downtown.

I always wondered about this place as I would drive by & always see people popping in there. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall place, but what awaits inside is anything but! It’s a small place with just some tables & a buffet set up. They have all kinds of different things, such as chicken or fish & side dishes like rice & beans. They also have different sized plates & containers in which to place your meal depending on how hungry you are. Price is based on the size you use to have for your meal. The woman working the restaurant was so friendly and makes you feel at home. I know we walked in there looking confused & she let us know how the buffet works. She also let us know that you can order things besides what’s in the buffet area and that they can make it for you. I could tell that this place was going to be a hit because as I thought about what to eat, she kept greeting all the regulars coming in for their lunches. I had some juicy, spicy chicken & rice from the buffet, along with a cheese pupusa which I ordered. The pupusa was warm, toasty & cheesy! Price was very reasonable & worth it. This place is definitely worth a try! P. S. Just a tip, I know they have limited hours so just make sure to check if they are open.

Whoa, my mind is a little blown right now. Look past the off-beat location, simple store front, hole-in-the-wall interior, and lack of any kind of menu and come in for one of the best bacon burritos around. I’ve been lured to more than a few disappointing locations in my quest for great breakfast burritos, and I was half-expecting this is be yet another. I remain surprised and delighted that Aladdin’s lives up to the hyped, glowing reviews. First of all, they toast the outside of the tortilla which is always a big plus in my book. The eggs are soft-scrambled and deliciously rich and creamy, the way proper scrambled eggs should be. They also include fixings that, for some reason or another, don’t usually make their way into breakfast burritos — beans, onion, cilantro. A bit of a rebel; I like it! I also ordered mine with potato, salsa, and cheese — and they’ll thrown in rice if you want it. Do yourself a favor, and come try the bacon breakfast burrito!

Small hole in the wall with only about 7 tables. Food is delicious home-made. Menu changes daily, there is no printed menu. Buffet style, prices depend on what you get. Owner LITERALLY sees your plate and gives you a price. I have never paid anything outrageous, usually plate is from $ 5-$ 8. Owners are super friendly, you feel like you’re eating at a friends house. You can use debit/cc but there is a $ 5 minimum.

This hole in a wall spot is perfect for breakfast and lunch. Cindy is the sweetest and provides amazing customer service. You can built your own breakfast burrito and add anything you’d like! There’s also hot food available for lunch. I will definitely be coming back here for more.

it’s been a while since I came… but I actually came because of the Unilocal reviews. It is a mom and pop store. They are super nice and explain how it goes. you can order buffet style or you can make a special order– like burrito, or what not. the portions are huge for a girl, it defintely fills you up. I ended up ordering burrito and took their recommendation of what to add. The manager even got me all these sauces– there’s like 4 – 5 of them that you can eat with your burrito. This place is located in the corner of a street light. The patrons are super friendly as well. It’s a small place, fits like 6 tables at most, and sometimes you have to share tables. I went during lunch hour and there wasn’t a long long during the weekday. I think they don’t have a toilet for you to use. That’s all.

A real gem — a hole in the wall that you want to come back to all the time. For both the food and the ambiance. The food tastes like it’s home-cooked. The place is smallish and feels like you are in a friend’s home and they are just bringing all those trays of food from their kitchen for you. The customer service is top notch, friendly and courteous in a familial way. Expect to be addressed as honey or mi corazon. I had deep fried squash, an enchilada and fried bananas. Finger-licking good!

Don’t let looks on the outside deceive you. This tiny corner restaurant has some pretty good deals if you’re someone looking for food on a budget. I remember having a small breakfast burrito for $ 2.50 a long long time ago. I was not the one who had ordered it the first time, so this was actually my first time ordering something on my own. I guess if you don’t mention what size you want, they’ll give you the larger breakfast burrito for $ 5. $ 5 will get you a breakfast burrito with anything your little heart desires(some items may be extra). Salsa & lemon wedges are off to the side. I created a chorizo, salsa, guacamole, rice, beans, cilantro… burrito. I think that was all I added to it. The wait was maybe 2 – 3 minutes — not bad. The burrito was HUGE!!!(Keep in mind I was expecting the smaller version I was first introduced to, haha). I ended up eating half for breakfast and the other for lunch. Not looking for burritos? They also have a buffet style selection of different entrees. Mix and match what you want for a hearty meal. Good selection of drinks, indoor dining(quaint), super kind lady behind the counter who took my order, & a range of random things for purchase inside the glass counter(candy, I think I saw over the counter meds, random electronic devices, etc). Something to keep in mind is that they close early(I think around 2−230pm?) Cash/Credit is accepted; street parking.
