The food options in the Garment District are kind of limited, and this unassuming food truck is somewhat of a hidden gem. Up until recently, all they had in the way of a menu was a handwritten menu in the window that would change from day to day. But, recently they made some upgrades and there is now a new menu featuring some set items, which makes it a little easier to know what to expect/order. The first time I went to Adelita I had the chicken plate. It came with a large serving of chicken, rice, beans, cheese, and a salad that was mostly iceberg lettuce. It was pretty good, not phenomenal, but definitely a good value. The second time I went I tried the chicken plate again, but they had changed it around considerably. Now instead of a salad with iceberg lettuce, it has a side of steamed veggies that were on point(fresh and not overcooked). The plate also comes with brown rice, which I personally prefer over white rice, and some orange slices – nice touch. It was fresh and satisfying. I’ve also tried their fish and chicken salads. They seem to have replaced the earlier iceberg lettuce with mixed greens, which I appreciate. If I’m going to make the effort to eat a salad, I want to get some vitamins out of the deal. I never would have thought I’d be getting salads from a food truck in the Garment District, but I keep going back every time I’m in the area because it’s fresh, tasty, and a good deal. Also, the owners are really, really nice. If you’re in the area, definitely check them out! NOTE – The address on this entry is WRONG! The truck is on E12th St, just east of S. San Pedro.
