I went to Addis with a friend who had never eaten Ethiopian food before. We ordered the vegetarian platter to share and lamb(for him). Everything was very fresh, and terrifically delicious. We had the njera bread which is used to scoop and eat the food, which ranged from potatoes, cabbage and a spicy green garnish. Elsa, our server was attentive and patient in answering questions. Addis is located on Fairfax in «Little Ethiopia» where there are several Ethiopian restaurants. My friend has returned to Vancouver but when he returns to visit, we will definitely revisit Addis.

Got take-out — veggie combo — it was really bad. The potatoes tasted really old, like it was going bad. I have Ethiopian food pretty regularly, and I’ve never had it this bad.

Took a friend just last week for his first Ethiopian meal. The food was great, the injira was perfectly spongy and soft, not too thin, not too think. The price was really reasonable. And who isn’t on a limited budget these days? For $ 8.99 I got a vegetarian combination which was enough for two people! What a deal! I didn’t realize they were new, I just liked the selection and the menu.

We went to another Ethiopian restaurant on the block for our first taste of the cuisine and didn’t really like it. However we wanted to keep an open mind and thought that is was maybe the restaurant that wasn’t good, so we went to Addis and loved it. The food comes a bit slow, but that’s because they were literally cooking it after we ordered, and everything was delicious. I especially liked the beef tibis(sp??). We had a party of 7, and literally ordered almost every item from the menu. The cook also came out and greeted us and asked how the food was. I highly recommend this place. The menu is small but great!

I am giving this spot a 5 for the food and the service. The ambiance could use a little touch up but. those sorta things don’t effect my reviews if the food is bomb. Our server was beautiful, informative and attentive. We ordered the veggie platter and the split pea stew Kik Alicha. Each dish was under $ 10, they came out quick & they were absolutely fantastic! We had more than enough food for two people and we left full :) This ethopian restaurant is open late, has fast service, hookah and is also BYOB. Im a vegetarian, and i actually enjoyed the food here more than the vegan place across the street. I will be back!

My bf and I are on a quest to try ALL the Ethiopian places on this drag and Addis was the first in line. Between the two of us we’d been to a few of the places but trying all seemed like an attainable and interesting goal. When we got there around 6pm on a Thursday night it was still pretty empty, save for a table full of local native dudes talking and smoking and a musician setting up his stuff in the front patio. A young waitress came out and told us we could sit wherever so we picked a table by the front door. A basketball game was playing very loudly on the TV – we were wondering whether we should ask to have them turn it down but ultimately we decided not to bother since it wouldn’t be a very long dinner anyway. Their menu was small but seemed to have all the usual favorites. We just ordered the veggie assortment platter, which is basically all those curry-like items along with the bread(omg, that bread – we ate so much of it!). When we got the food we noticed that it was missing one of the items listed on the menu, and when we asked the waitress about it she just said they don’t have any and that was that. She was nice and pretty efficient(except when she disappeared for like 20 minutes with no replacement) and we enjoyed the food but we’d had comparable food at the other joints and overall the vibe was a little weird. Case in point: I was waiting for the ladies’ room to free up and was a little startled when a dude walked out. Not that there’s anything wrong with a guy using the ladies’ room – women use the guys’ room all the time – but when there’s hardly anybody in there why is that necessary? STEPHJUDGEMENT: Good food, but the service was so-so and the ambiance was sorely lacking.

Decent enough food but honestly the lack of service would make me go back. Hate when places won’t honor the Entertainment rewards BOGO coupons. Had to complain manager. With Rosalinds and all the others around here I will never be back. Nothing stood out except the crappy service experience.

Incredibly delicious. Eating here now. The tzilzil tibs are perfect. sizzling hot beef and everything else is up to quality standards that you might expect from a good ethiopean restaurant. I recommend ordering one of the vegetable sides as the dish didn’t come with a lot of sides and spices. which would be my only negative… the potatoes and cabbage are fantastic. some of the best ive had. Ambiance is great. comfortable seating. and they even have hookah. Affordable and well worth it. Top notch food Definitely coming back here.

super friendly people. Can’t believe i have waited so long to write about this place. There is a lot of choices of restaurants to pick from when you are in Little Ethiopia. You have the formal fancy sit down style restaurants with full waiters dressed sharply with dimly lit rooms and slow background music. You have big popular loud restaurants with lots of décor and lot of people going in and out and bright signs and colors and then you have places like this where its a very nice slow casual restaurant where everyone is relaxed and super friendly. Reasons to want to come here. — Its very cheap — Its very relaxed and no fancy waiters, no reservations needed, open late — You get to eat with your hands and share your one big plate with your group or friend. — The staff is very friendly — Final and most importantly, the food here is really good. Tips — Ethiopian food is very curry based so expect that on the palate. — They eat with a bread thats similar to an Indian pancake type bread — You can eat with a fork, but typically you want to break apart the bread with your fingers and scoop up the curries or dishes and eat with your hands. There is a sink to wash your hands with.

Loved it! Got a vegetarian plate, then another lentil curry, all was very good! Great atmosphere, my kid was able to run around and explore, staff was friendly and accommodating. Will go back again. P. S. No fancy furniture or table cloths there, just warm staff and good food at reasonable prices. P.P.S Got quite a bit of gas next day — lowered my rating by one star.

One of four L.A. Ethiopian restaurants which are better than any you’ll find in DC or NYC.(My other 3 faves here are Palm Grove, Meals By Genet, and Marathon). What distinguishes this place is that it Injera smells more delightfully sour than some of the others on the strip(although I still wish they had more tef flour), and their kitfo is more buttery. Their prices are a little higher than Marathon, though the place is far less divey, and it’s not nearly as expensive as Genet. Marathon has more varieties of kitfo. They do have a real bargain there: a supercombo comprised of(surprisingly fine) grilled fish and a(very good) vegetarian combo. Get that, and a spicy kitfo, for instance, and you’ll easily feed 3 or 4.

Oh my goodness. Absolutely delicious! They gave me an amazing impression of Ethiopian food as this is my first time trying it! Very good quality, I love the ambiance of this restaurant and the owners and waitress so so sweet and courteous! Will be coming back and bringing others

The most amazing food ever! Healthy, tasty, low priced and really authentic. Was a true pleasure! I’ll start coming here every week! Vegans and veggies — have the veggie combo! You won’t believe it!

This restaurant is AMAZING! Ordered the vegetarian platter with a side of fish, as well as some spiced tea. The vegetarian platter tasted very fresh with generous potions and for the fish they gave us an entire broiled fish on a plate. It was the most fresh, tender fish I had eaten(and only cost $ 5 extra!). Service was very fast and attentive, too. My only complaint is that they had no tej, as it’s one of those special drinks I always like to have with Ethiopian food and wish they had had some for sale.

I am a huge fan of Ethiopian food, and thrilled that I live so close to Little Ethiopia. With the huge selection of choices available, it is often difficult to distinguish what is recognized as a 4-star versus 5-star venue. My friend and I came here for dinner last night, and got the vegetarian plate with fish. The time it took for the food to come out was longer than the norm, but the quality was superb. The presentation was also impressive. I was pleased with the flavors of the veggie platter and the amount of food, which was enough for leftovers for both of us. However, my friend said that the fish wasn’t as flavorful as it could’ve been, it was fried without any seasoning that we could taste. Though the food was great, the menu was very bare bones, we had asked to add a side of beef/chicken to the veggie platter and were told that we had to order the whole entrée, but that there was a fish option that came with the veggie platter. The menu really only had a few options to choose from, with the highlight being the veggie platter. It is a place for a good fix, but there are definitely more showy options surrounding. The restaurant had wide open space, was dimly-lit for dinner, and has a hookah lounge in the back. It was a comfortable place to be and the service was incredibly friendly! To summarize, good place for a quick fix, but but not for the whole Ethiopian-dining-experience-shebang. Menu: 2⁄5 Value: 5⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Ambiance: 3⁄5 Cleanliness: 4⁄5 Food Quality: 5⁄5

Veggie combo came with well-seasoned, hearty items that included red lentils, yellow lentils, salad, collard greens(yummmm), and cabbage. As opposed to the usual mushy version, these veggies were more on the chunky, full-filling version of themselves. We also had the chicken awazi. Service is more«European-style» where they don’t bother you every 2 minutes to check is you are ready for the bill. We visited around 1030pm and it had a laid back, lounge-like feeling with jazz music. They also roast their own coffee beans. Will definitely be back for more.

Really bare décor. When I walked in, I was surprised this was even a restaurant. There is a lounge to the left with a bar in the back. There were also only 6 tables on the right side. Not too much on the walls. There is a flatscreen TV, though, so you could always catch your favorite sports game. In any case, we got the vegetarian platter as well as a spicy meat dish. Both were fantastic. The bread is sour, but not too sour as in some of the other places. The veggies were really yummy. The beef was amazing! It’s a separate order so comes in bigger portions. Overall good price. Everything is around $ 10. My only gripe is that, even though the waitress was so sweet and nice, it was very slow. It took a while for the food to come out and we had to actively get people’s attention to pay or order more. I know it’s a family business and was probably understaffed on a Sunday night, but don’t expect a quick in-and-out kind of meal.

Headline: cheap, flavorful Dinner. Little Ethiopia has become a favorite of mine after visiting Hollywood with guests What: veggie combo– $ 10 platter enough for 2 people with salad, collard greens, lentils, potatoes, in delicious almost curry like morsels that you eat with sponge bread. Pleasantly light, savory, but filing Ambiance: dark with a tv playing sports $ 5/person. What a steal! And tasty to boot
