We ate here today and were very pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the service. It was a holiday so it was obviously busier than expected but the one man manning the grill, busing the tables and taking orders did a great job of keeping up. We noticed that he called for reinforcements but we were happy with food, service and price. I would definitely return to Abby’s.

I like it here a lot! Have lunch for breakfast or breakfast for lunch. Menu is simple, a great deal for the quality and hearty servings. Service is always pleasant. Cute 50s diner steez.

Been living in Eagle Rock for over 30 years and just recently noticed this place on Eagle Rock Blvd. The place is tiny so it’s easy to miss. Stopped by here with the family for breakfast about a year ago and have been consistently coming back for breakfast at least once or twice a month. The owner is friendly, and the service is good(coffee mug always refilled). It’s a small place, so waiting for the food to come out sometimes can be slow on a busy day. We just have to make sure we’re not in a rush when we come here. But since the place is cute and comfortable, we don’t mind on a lazy weekend morning. Prices are very reasonable and the food is good. Nothing fancy like cornflakes in pancakes, or imported chilis in the jam — just good ol’ fashioned breakfast — the way my family likes it. We love supporting local small businesses, and this little gem is a perfect example of why we do so.

Went for my birthday breakfast, they didn’t look open at first but they were, we just got there right at opening time. Great food, especially the potatoes with peppers, exactly what I wanted. Large portions, wife and I both left completely full on $ 20. Very small but nice staff and no problem parking on a Sunday morning.

Was looking a diner to eat while traffic died down a little. It was a small and simple 1950s inspired diner. When I say simple I mean simple, no chessy oversized posters covering the walls or loud music from the era that you would probably talk over during your meal. Very clean and the waitress always made herself visible. Was attended promptly and was greeted with a smile. I got the home fries with a side of wheat toast. Food was good, but their was very little bell peppers and onion in the home fries. When I went to the restroom to wash my hands I became confused because I didn’t know whether if it was the bathroom or a storage area. We do plan on going back if in the area.

This place is tiny, u might miss it If you’re driving too fast! Accept cash&card. Parking, don’t know if there’s a lot but I just parked in the neighborhood. Waitress was super nice and friendly, don’t know if she’s really«Abby» though. If I was in the mood for diner food I would come here(none of that hipster/retro sh*t). I live near Loz Feliz and its missing places like this one. Food was yum. Menu was straightforward. This place is classic dining on a budget! Me like it.

Small place with great food, and great prices. I ordered the pancake breakfast which comes with 3 slices of bacon. The food was served hot & quick, with the food being excellent. My coffee cup was never empty, which is always a plus ! Will definitely be back, and highly recommended the place…

Has the feeling of an old school diner packed into a small room with roughly 20 seats on a good day. The menu is small, which was really surprising but refreshing to see from a diner. I got the pancake breakfast special, really just about what youd expect. Bottomless iced coffee is a nice touch

Delicious, low key spot in the heart of Eagle Rock. It’s a true throwback to a 50s diner experience with ample seating at the bar. I ordered an omelette — one of the best and finest I have tasted. An entire breakfast for two was $ 21! Such friendly service and waitstaff, willing to refill coffee at a glance and take suggestions on how to run the checkout /bill service better. They write all by hand and take the time to cater to each party. The bacon serving was ample but could have been crispier, just a personal preference.

Piping hot, delicious burgers(got mine with cheese & grilled onions), along with fries for $ 6.50. Burger quality waaaaaaay better than Everest or Astro Burger! Very friendly, fast service by the owner. Had the shake on another occasion, which was stellar! A meal in itself! I also did the classic rock music playing on the the speakers. And plenty of free, shaded parking along the nearby side street.

Went there based on the Unilocal reviews. It’s a very small diner. Three booths and about a dozen stools. I actually like that about Abby’s. We only had to wait about five minutes for a booth. We had to wait about another ten minutes to have our order taken. I saw the server making fries and putting orders together, so she was pretty busy keeping it all together. Orders seemed to be prepared one table at a time. We waited a bit for our food, but it wasn’t too bad. I love their coffee. It’s classic diner coffee. It wasn’t strong, but it was smooth and had a nice flavor. We had both breakfast and lunch items. The pancakes were light and decent sized. The eggs were nice. The yolks were almost orange in color. Not sure if that’s a sign of freshness, but they tasted great! Bacon was nice and crispy. The burger was good. $ 5.95 for a good sized cheeseburger with lettuce, onions, and tomato. It also comes with fries. You get plenty and they are good. When it was time to pay, I paid with my credit card. The server only brought me the merchant copy to sign. I never received a customer copy. Never had that happen before. All in all, not bad. I’d call it average diner food, but I say that in a good way. The burger is the way to go at this place in my opinion. Parking is on the street, but it’s really easy to find a place close by.

Yo Angelenos! Eagle Rockians! Hipster Brigade(I saw you up the street at Swork — even though you averted your gaze I know there was momentary eye contact) get yourselves over and support this local gem of a diner already! I was here at about 11:30 on a weekday for a diner lunch(actually breakfast for lunch — one of my favorite things at a diner) and they were dead! I had eggs scrambled perfectly(I didn’t ask for them that way-they just do them that way — you know — light, just done) home fries with onions and peppers(righteous) and bacon(3 strips, on the thick side and slightly salty but delicious) and wheat toast. Service, like the food, was spot on for a diner. Solid. One of the best straight forward diner breakfasts I’ve had in awhile. Looking forward to a return trip. @LApicks

Cute little diner in eagle rock — family owned and operated. Good portions, clean/fresh cooking, friendly service. Loved all the old school diner décor! Great prices also. Came here with the finace and sat at the bar. We were able to witness the cook in action — just very honest, simple, clean cooking with large portions. I ordered the omelet and finace got a chicken salad. We left feeling happy and full. Street parking only! We will definitely be back!

Nice guy. My breakfast potatoes were pre-cooked to some extent, because they looked done, but they were cold here n there. English muffin was cold n hard with no toasted color to it. Similarly, I ordered one pancake, which looked good, but by the time I ate it, it was cold, like the plate it was served on. Scrambled eggs were part cooked whites, odd. He was working alone, so maybe it’s better other times. I was grouchy too, since the older guy at the counter, who arrived after us was done with his meal before we were served our food. Super low prices. Pleasant guy, I told him about my food being cold, he said«sorry». Funny then the old guy walks back into the kitchen… unimpeded by the cook.

Found this gem while craving a late breakfast. Plenty of neighborhood parking and classic short order menu. Cozy inside with booths and a bar. The service is friendly and attentive. I went with pancakes and eggs which come fresh off the grill. The other members of the party enjoyed a turkey club and burger which both looked fresh and incredible. Try it out.

There’s a solid 4 stars on Unilocal so I agreed to come to this diner for brunch. Unfortunately, I was only blown away by… wait, let me rephrase that… I was only pleased with their French Toast… and the price. =FOOD= 1. Ham N Eggs — ham, 2 eggs(scrambled for me), country potatoes, and choice of toast(English muffin for me). First off… don’t get the English muffin. Mine was burnt, tiny, tough to bite, and even being drenched in butter/jelly, couldn’t save it. Eggs and ham were average. Country potatoes were actually pretty good… but overall, a very average dinner breakfast. 2. One side of French Toast — This I liked. It was not too sweet, and not bland. This place makes their own batter. When it comes, immediately scrape the butter off and onto the plate so that it doesn’t melt a crater in the middle of your yummy fluffy toast. =SERVICE&AMBIENCE= The sweet lady who helped us out when we first went in was very friendly and helpful when deciding orders. She suggested the French Toast for us and I was glad she did. The diner is actually really tiny with a few booth seats and bar seating. Luckily there weren’t too many people there when we arrived. Food also came out quickly. =PARKING= No private lot, but plenty of parking on the street! We had no trouble finding a spot… but it was a Tuesday morning so I have no idea what the weekends bring. =FINALVERDICT= Not a restaurant that I’d jump to come back to. If I’m in the area during breakfast hours and want something fast and cheap(and I’m unaware of any other places), perhaps.
