Must try the potato tacos. Tortillas are fried on the spot to a crisp and they can add cheese and even add chorizo. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

This place is absolutely a hidden gem, literally hidden inbetween two buildings. the guy who mans this is actually a air conditioning repair man who owns one of the buildings that is acting as a side for his alley business. The salsa they provide you is outrageously tasty, I would definitely go back here. The lengue the asada were really good, I like the burnt ends. The whole meal for two was about like $ 6bucks i guess he took a liking to someone i was with because we ordered more than 6bucks of tacos

Crawling along York Boulevard in search of tacos, we stopped at this taco stand set up between two buildings. It was not originally on our list but I’m so glad we stopped in. It’s a cute place, quite cozy with the covered tables in the«alley.» Tacos are a buck. I was waiting in line to order one but Libby R was kind enough to pass her(uneaten) al pastor to me. It was a little drier than I would have liked even with a dousing of salsa from the salsa and veggies table. I heard the other meats were far better. I’ll have to try them the next time I’m visiting my favorite bar on this street, Johnny’s! I did notice the woman was piling on the meat that had previously been cooked from a container onto the grill to warm up. I would have preferred freshly grilled but I understand the constraints of street food. You certainly wouldn’t want your hungry(and possibly drunk) customers waiting for their food to cook! Still, what do you want for a buck?

As far as Highland Park and Eagle Rock tacos go, this is definitely my second favorite spot(first now goes to Pelon). Not a truck and a little more than a stand, these guys have an awesome set-up between two buildings on York(just down the road from Johnny’s and The York, same side of the street), where they make delicioso tacos y burritos into the wee hours of el noche. Out front are a couple of plastic tables and chairs inviting you to get cozy and stay a while and behind Nato manning the grill is his lady’s prep area and a picnic table set up with all of the condiments you could ask for including guacamole and beans. Music is playing and there are more chairs to sidle up to if you want to stick around and savor the flavors. Asada was good, the al pastor a little drier than it was over at Pelon, but the seasoning was spot on fantastic. The pollo was nice and juicy and the lengua, ohhhhh, the lengua. Hands down, the best tongue I got all night. It was buttery and amazing with just a little cilantro and onion tucked into its lard grilled tortilla. Grab some lengua here and the al pastor con piña across the way at Pelon after a few drinks at Johnny’s or The York and your night’s set. Oh, and when he’s not whipping up tasty morsels street side, Nato does a/c and heating duct repairs and install, so if you’ve got some leaky ducts, you can get that shit sorted on the cheap, too!
