A lovely framing store you should really check out. I came in with two pieces that meant a lot to me, and Audrey was so helpful and artful with her suggestions for different frames that would complement the pieces well.
The first was a photograph of my Grandmother at her 1942 wedding. The frame she picked out and showed me almost magically matched the sheen of her dress in the photo. It was like the two were meant to go together.
The 2^nd was a vibrant, colorful little painting of a setting in Greece. Rather than picking out a generic little brown frame to go around it (which my non-​artistic mind was expecting), she found this beautiful burnt orange frame which perfectly accented the rooftops and foliage in the painting. It completely took on a new life when I saw it.

There are three (or more) things to know about custom framing:
1) It’s (usually) expensive.
2) It improves and brings out the aesthetics of your art.
3) it’s awesome (and increases the value of your art)!
I’ve been a customer of Aframe for almost a year. They’ve framed four pieces for me, and they’ve broken the mold for me ever since! When it comes to expense Aframe keeps it real, meaning it’s the classic idea of value: «what comes good does not come cheap and what comes cheap does not come good!»
But…Aframe breaks the mold. Their prices are competitive – especially if you’re getting a vintage frame job (their specialty). It’s not like they have two-dollar-tuesday’s, but I checked around a lot and they were the best at working with me on getting impressive quality at a great price.
At first, I was kinda adamant about only going with white matting, but Audrey (head framer in these parts) caught my trust in allowing her to choose the matting and frame combination and I ALWAYS showed up to pick up my art accented and ‘brought out.‘
Even aside from all this,…I got Thunderdome impressed when Audrey framed a black light piece in a shadow box frame with hidden internal black lights attached via magnet! Hit the switch ALL built by her with extreme intuition. (Kinda makes me wish I could afford to have my Dan McCarthy print done this way…
I’m a ‘Mondo-​style’ print collector, and this place makes me wish I could have every one of my prints framed. Maybe someday, but until then it’s flat file city in my house.
Aframe also has really great original gallery shows. I’ve only been to two, but I had a great time at both. The atmosphere is SO much more inviting than every other frame shop I’ve been to. Walking in, meeting Audrey and David – it’s immediately inviting.
Now’s the time to invest in art – and this is the place to find that out.
